Ikr?! Epic really under exaggerated Odysseus' crew members, until they became just background characters. It even removed a lot of Odysseus' relationship with them as in the Odyssey the crew were basically like family as they all mourn the deaths of their comrades, everyone who has ever read Homer knows he likes to humanize even the most insignificant characters. Also when Circe freed his men: Odysseus and the remaining crew (who stayed behind on the boat weeping for the unknown fate of their comrades) rejoiced and wept upon seeing them safe and human. It honestly hurts me a little that in the Thunder Saga Odysseus chooses to let them die WHEN Odyssey Odysseus would and had never (Zeus in canon killed only those who participated in killing and eating the sacred cows, there was never a choice for Odysseus)

All the cut songs Jorge releases of them makes me want like a bonus features Crew Saga that happens at the same time as Epic and follows Elpenor, Perimedes, and the other crew. Elpenor and Perimedes' relationship is an obvious thing to touch, but there's also "Everything's changed since Polites" so that would be cool to see how they cope with that, including Odysseus since we don't really get to see him grieve Polites, heck one could miss that he died until Underworld

and it sort of makes the mutiny all the more understandable, a lot of people love to say how Ody was right and whatnot because the crew "deserved" it, but I get annoyed with that because they seem to be placing moralities in black and white, and not understanding and sympathizing more that the crew had their own complex set of motives that brought them to commit mutiny. People are so willing to insert themselves into these situations "I would've done this I would've done that" which just seems to annoy me since they're just so willing to trade human lives. We see that Odysseus still wishes for his crew to live, because these were his men and friends, he was not ready to kill his own friends. And that's what I like about these songs, we see the POV of the crew, and why they would eventually betray Odysseus, because from their POV, Odysseus seems to be unreasonable.

@doctorenvy9650 Exactly, we see the build up where as in the final cut, it's just Eurylochus, and it's overdone with him. There are 3 songs that Eurylochus is in that he is not arguing with Odysseus, and most of them is a minor speaking or singing role, being Polyphemus, Scylla, and Thunder Bringer. And of those 3, Polyphemus is the only one where there isn't tension between them anyways. The way it is makes it easy to antagonize Eurylochus and the crew and see them as whiney, foolish, and at fault

I really hate this, I mean the fact that when two people are very close and worry about each other, when two people are very good friends, no matter male or female, everyone jumps to call them "gay" or "lesbian" for each other, because this is a trend nowadays, now it isn't only that two people of opposite sexes can't be very good friends and worry about each other deeply but platonically, but now two people of the same sex can't do that either, Elpenor and Perimedes are only shown in this songs to care deeply about each other like any good friend would care about their close friend, wouldn't you care and worry about your best friend like this and more so if they were suffering so much and normally in silence to top it all off? I most definitely would, it's only natural to care and worry so deeply about someone else that you love and to search and want what's best for them even when it's not in a romantical way, but it's still love, and love in its core is the same and it's always pure and never selfish and you always want what's best for the other even if you might make mistakes sometimes, there exist more types of love, like true friendship, fraternal love (we also could call friendship fraternal love) and paternal love, and of course romantic love, which is very intense, but you don't only show deep care, worry and affection to the person you romantically love, you also show deep care, worry and affection to your best friend, definitely more so when they really need it and you see that they are suffering, it hurts you too and you want to see them okay, not every two people of the same or opposite sex that are very close and care for each other have romantic feelings for each other or are already together, the majority don't but still care deeply for each other like true good friends care and stick for each other, people can still be and definitely are still simply good friends that like good friends they love and worry a lot for each other but platonically, but that doesn't mean that they don't love and care for each other

A part of me hopes that if we ever get a cut content version of the album where the songs involving the other members of Odysseus' Crew are included, there's the inclusion a similar version of this song where Perimedes demands Ody turn back from the Underworld to Circe's Island so they can give Elpenor a proper burial - something that's included in some versions of Homer's Odyssey - so his soul won't be trapped in the River Styx but Ody refuses. Because that'd give Perimedes being the one to stab Odysseus in Mutiny a lot more emotional weight to it.

I love how Elpenor is fully aware Oddyseus is being manipulative. Ok so i have two theories/headcannons for what happens with these two. Either perimedies dies during ruthlessness, and Elpenor drinks himself to death trying to forget the pain and the reason why noone remembered him is because perimedes was the only one who really cared about him, or elpenor was just drinking for the hell of it and after he falls from the balcony perimides is borderline suicidal (especially after seeing elpenor in the afterlife thinking that no one cared that he died), so when when odysseus choses the crew to die in thunder bringer he just sits down in a corner of the boat and crys tears of joy at the fact that he would be reunited with his beloved soon. I love that Ody in the moment doesn't have his headband, and can be seen as "just a man". But when he reflects on the choices he's made/will make, you drew him w/ the headband that would signify him as royalty.
