A friend of mine had a similar situation and when her youngest boy was getting more and more violent she took all three of them to learn kick boxing. This became an outlet for his anger - hers too, and taught discipline. Both boys, now adults and fathers are well adjusted and great.

I don’t understand how people can be so critical of this woman? I found the discussion and sharing of her story very thought provoking, and I’ve learnt a lot from this video. So thank you for sharing because I really listened to this advice with an open heart. 🙏

I just watched this and have to say that I'm disappointed in how they handled the father's suicide. Not one word was said about depression. I totally get the feelings of anger toward dad for leaving them, but what that mom and especially that boy need to understand is that suicide is the result of an ILLNESS. An illness that doesn't show, but an illness that clearly dad had, and perhaps if mental illness was something that people felt more comfortable discussing, he might have reached out for help and still be with that family. They are allowed to feel their anger, but they also need to understand the real cause of his death in order to heal and move forward.

I am glad to see that Jo cut taping for the Mom and son's conversation. Anger is the one part of grief that many do not understand until they walk through it. Hope things have improved for this family.

I cross the Queensferry Crossing everyday and hear about the people who jump. I’m so sorry this has happened to you. I think grief counselling aimed at young teens would be good for Ross, also joining an angling club or similar where he can get out in the fresh air away from the screen. Wish you all the best, from Fife x

"I'm doing you a disservice." is always good to hear. Much better than "I'm not going to do you a disservice."! I've used it and paid it forward. You don't have the LUXURY of being his "mate". He is not your peer. He never will be. You have to love him more than you want him to love you.

I feel so sad for these moms, especially the first. Where is the freakin dad? The commenter trolls love bashing this poor woman, which is convenient since all of the work is on her. Honestly, I don't understand people. This woman needs love and support, not hostile, cruel remarks from people who don't know their family. No wonder single moms are suffering so much.

This was totally me. And I turned into an alcoholic. I’m good at giving love, but not much else, apparently. I was dying to return to work. Because he was an angel, for everyone else, (not teachers, though, 😂). I thought all Jack needed was love. How wrong I was. Either way, he will always be my baby. I don’t know another way to be, except to love him. Oh, the pain.

I think that as a parent all you can do is your very best to prepare them for the world and showing them love is one of the best thing you can do for them. However, they need to learn respect now though because once they're teenagers they can just spiral without structure. Don't be too harsh on yourself, I'm sure your kids adore you and that there's a lot you're good at.

I think the son probably wishes it was his Mom and not his Dad because of the relationship he had with his Dad. They seemed quite close, and that's why he's so angry at her. And probably angry at his Dad for abandoning him.

You and Ross need to cry on each others' shoulders. Tell him everyday how much you love him. Everyday. Regardless of how you're feeling. Love is a verb. The more you say it, the more you'll believe it and soon you'll be shocked at how very much you DO love him! I'm so glad your Mum and her partner are there for you. That is a GREAT blessing! We will pray for him. "We" means my husband and I and every Christian who reads this!

@@debbiemohekey1509 That is beyond heartbreaking. The evil that men do can not be understated. Good thing we have a heavenly Father who looks after her needs. There are many good churches with wonderful help for single Mums and also provide good male role models. Not the RC church, unfortunately.

Can we take a moment to appreciate the fact that the first lady not only had a best friend who by all accounts looked like she practically lives there, but is willingly and lovingly co-parenting. She knows all the things a parent would, down to what their teachers are saying at school. You can tell she plays a role in discipline, education and the decisions made about them. Those kiddies have an amazing “auntie” right there. Yes somebody who was born is in that position I know how much she loves them kiddies and her friend and will do anything for all of them. I hope she’s cherished and able to be a remaining and stable part of the children’s lives as they grow up. I hope her friend realises how lucky she is and doesn’t cast her aside surplus to requirements as soon as the first boyfriend comes on the scene. Tia has bonds with those children and they have bombs with her. It wouldn’t be fair for them to be punished and have all ties cut off just because mum got herself some guy. That’s how I was treated, never even respected with a reason. Just no longer required to babysit, taxi, advise, fill forms in, make meals et cetera… No longer required to be part of their lives apparently. That’s not a full thing to do to the kids. I mean I’m having counselling and psychotherapy as a result also but it breaks my heart to think what must be going on in those little heads, probably wondering why I’ve abandoned them when it’s far from the case. So I hope Tia never gets treat like that and that she is appreciated for the role she has played making that mothers life easier and better. You don’t come by many friends who would drop everything to help you with your family. And like me, Tia wouldn’t be looking for any kind of reward - she has it already just being able to be the person she is to them. My heart hurts so much that the friendship will be lifelong. 💜

A guy who was in a place of uncertainly had to be more stronger and think what his kids would do, she is right how did he only think about himself only. Any illness can be cured and he should have fought. What has he taught his kids to give up and run away from any problem. When you make a commitment to one another and you have kids incase things do not work out separation is best option. You can still be very good parents living apart. The first woman I think is a control freak what will happen if Lego stays in his room for a week. She decided to have the kids for whatever reason thier dad is not in the picture. Kids need love hugs and reassurance that they are safe and comfortable. May be something is going on in school as he has no dad maybe kids are cruel to him. We would not like it if someone was shouting at us in our face. She should have 50/50 so be a mum with authority and also gave that downtime with her kids.
