Technically we had planned on taking that shortcut, since we hiked out from our trip 2 years ago. I didn't expect how tough it would be cutting trail in the 4ft of snow there... somehow.. 😂 - now looking back, I wished we would've taken it on the way out too!

Mixed thoughts on taking the shortcut back. I wished we would've taken it. This time there was a cut trail, and single-track trail always beats a road walk for me. By the last right, I was able to sit inside of the fire pit on the ground. It's pretty warm in there!

Great videos your making . I’ve watched most if not all of them and also some of the other KZbin guys that you hike with sometimes. I only remember one time you’ve mentioned elk hunters while hiking. I was wondering if you see many elk on your hiking exertions off of highway 200? A few years back I was in a couple of the spots you visited. The Eagle Caps and another trip was Noxon Happy trails.

Thanks for checking them out! You've obviously seen that I hike with dogs a lot. That has up and downsides. One of the downsides is I don't see as much wildlife as I do when they are not there. In the Cabinets, I haven't seen many. Further south in the Great Burn along the Idaho / Montana border, I've seen the most in that area. Most of the time if my dog is hiking ahead of me, he pushes any wildlife out that might be near by. Keep it hot! j/k When we start the fire (on snow) we have 2-3 layers of logs build up and we build the fire on top and let it burn down.
