I would remove the dealer plate and get a local shop to fix it. Either with a full replacement or a flat plate over the weld area and work the warp out of it. I think the plate will eventually fall off. The bad weld into paint and bad settings, the blow through, and the unpainted haz develop a crack fast.. Its going to catch air at higher speeds and just vibrate until it rips off.

That’s awesome that you got a new truck! Also I would more than recommend to have a 20lb. ABC fire extinguisher mounted on the outside in a vehicle bracket. The fire extinguisher that you have in the cab is only a 2 1/2 lb. BC extinguisher which won’t put out much fire at all and it also can’t put out A class fires (ordinary combustibles). Hope you get a nice 20lb. ABC fire extinguisher for the truck and wish you the best!
@Unknown-pc9yq3 ай бұрын
At least one.

I would definitely add a bigger extinguisher and consider mounting a bow rake, push broom, and square shovel. Bow rake so if you unfortunately get a fire inside the trash compartment you can dump it on the street and rake it out. Broom and shovel so if trash spills, you can clean it up. And finally, add a trauma kit. You mentioned how many ways the hydraulics could kill you. Having a trauma kit in the cab can help prevent a lot of those.

You probably already know this, but turbos don't like to be shut off hot. I know cummins used to recommend idling the engine for a short time before shutting it off. My understanding is that the oil in the turbo bearing would cook and reduce the life of the bearing. The turbo uses oil flow to cool the bearing. Wouldn't hurt to consult the owners manual or the isuzu service department.

Beep-Beep Nom-Nom. The Garbage Gobbler isn't just a truck but a friendly neighborhood character. Your customers adopt this hungry truck and take care of it by feeding it regularly. This approach turns a utilitarian service into an interesting character with its own backstory, hopes, and dreams.

I was the 3rd gen of of our family own scavenger service in the north Chicago verbs so I found your channel interesting, venturing into something with out knowing much about the pit falls that you will face. I think you did the right thing buying that truck, with 200 90 gallon cans, I couldnt see much future with out it, other that a busted or worn out Brad! With the Hollidays comming up, you would have a very hard time to keep up, at the pace you had with the pumpkins, Thanks Giving dinners, Christmas parties and Christmas itself. I know you will take care of that truck, just make shure you check the inside of the cab for loose items, even behind the seat before you lift the cab, if you dont, you will be buying a windshield! Run empty with the pushout blade forword for a better ride, and at the dump, unlatch the hopper then run the packer blade up to clear the hopper before you raise it up to unload. You maybe know all that but I just thought I wpuld put my 2cents in from a 73yr old garbage man Good luck Brad, I hope you grow and prosper and I cant wait to see your next vidio and see you say,( why didnt I do this sooner ) at the end. We've got around 60 different trash trucks - biggest advice with those packing handles is to make sure the rubber/plastic cap is in the hole at the top of each detent valve. If you don't have a cap in the hole pack it with grease & find a way to keep water from getting down it. Your handle detents will rust & stick then your functions will get stuck 'on' until you yank on it. This will kill your pump via continued deadheading. Also - every body builder I've met would recommend using high idle whenever you're running a function (tip, claw, sweep, wall, tailgate). The pumps they use on these trucks will die a slow painful death if they're not given enough RPM under load. Expensive part to replace when they'll last a decade if properly operated... Good luck- enjoy the new truck! :)
@24allix3 ай бұрын
Also - grease grease grease. Take a pic of that yellow grease point map while it's still in good shape. That truck will run for a long time if you keep up the maintenance! Oil, grease & filters are cheap!

The fan noise could be the A/C condensor fan, not sure if the US trucks has it under the LH floor board like they are here in Australia. If it is under the cab I'd recommend getting condensor guard as it seems to attact damage, we've got 5 Isuzu tow trucks and all of them have had damaged condensors. Couple of things to know, those big mirrors will bend the tops of the doors down. Common issue that Isuzu has known about, and not done anything about, since this cab was released. More an irritation than a real problem, if the wind noise gets to annoying just pull the top of the window frame towards the cab with the window open. The Isuzu I drive has nearly 900.000 km on it and it's never had the doors replaced. Make sure you clean the filter for the HVAC under the inspection panel in the nose, it cakes with dirt easily and causes the blower fan to overheat. I'd also recommend pulling the HVAC blower fan out and cleaning it every so often because it sits horizontally and is only supported at the motor end. To much dust on the blades will kill the bearing. We actually keep a couple spares on the shelf. Hopefully Isuzu kept all the grease points on the North American trucks, if so there's zerks on the upper and lower king pins, front spring hanger, 2 on the front spring shackle, on each drive shaft uni joint, the drive shaft slip joint and the rear spring hanger and shackles. I've found the dealer sometimes forgets to grease them, we grease the trucks weekly .

12:26 True. I had a coworker stab the back up beeper with a pen once, if you do disconnect the audible alarm you could replace it with a light, so you know the gate is closed before resetting the saftey pins. Its just a hall sensor normally, near the top of the gate and a bottle cap works great. 🫡 If you didn't have those pins to keep the gate closed, you would have to rely on hearing that beeper, all the time incase a hydraulic cylinder loses pressure from wearing internal seals and it just popping open on you.

That is going to save your back. It is great that you can provide such a service to your customers. The name of the truck should be the Neighborhood Packer with a smile. or the Trash Crusher. Have a great day.

Exciting video! Congratulations on that truck man it is nice. You’re moving up quick in that business. That welding bit was very cringeworthy but I’m glad the damage wasn’t a big deal functionally.

No more liners!!!! i can wait till next week's video for the answer, but you mentioned you used this trash truck 3 times already. how has your time improved during trash pick-up? or do you think you need more practice with it before you can get quicker at each stops?
@CopperCreekCuts3 ай бұрын
Great question and will cover it! First day was slow. The first half dozen stops were 5-8 minutes because we didn't realize the PTO high idle Cuts off if you press the brake. My wife put it in park and was holding the brake and I couldn't get any life out of the PTO. Thought something was broken until we figured out she was pressing the brake in and it was connected somehow. We are now down to about a minute a stop! If I don't have to pack the trash (if we are in a neighborhood and can drive to the next can with trash in the hopper and the slide/packer up), it only takes about 20 seconds to get out, tip the can, and get back in.

When you're getting full and your ejector blade is all the way back, be SUPER careful if you're going to keep trying to compact it. I've seen a lot of panels get totally bent way out of shape because of operators trying to pack and pack and pack and it's a long, expensive pain in the ass to fix. Otherwise, congratulations on the truck!

On what brand and model of truck? Never been a problem on the RL8.
@jonathanmontgomery76753 ай бұрын
@@markjobin427new way but don't know the model. They ran three or four different new way rear loader body styles. I ran a front loader so I never had it happen to me but seen those trucks in the shop for it a lot.

So happy to finaly see the new truck. The poor customer support is kinda sad for the money u spent but maybe that´s normal for trucks idk... Hope you always have safe trips in your new truck and that it will last for a very long time. Safe trucking Brad!!

Awesome video and truck! I think RDK should have done way better of a job ngl. Btw 2 things. 1. For the button that is not work on that side of the truck, you could just make a signal with your wife for go, stop, and back up. 2. I think you should call the truck either trashy or smasher.

Keep an I on the DEF regen, I used to drive the same model of Izzu. Three different years and everyone of them the regen system had to be fixed several times in a month.

Why do all my faves have to release videos on the same day? Killin me!!! 😂 I’d recommend a check list to go through for garbage day. Make sure everything is in working order and good to go.

Also because it’s a cab over truck don’t keep anything that isn’t tied down in the cab otherwise you will not could or maybe you will definitely bust out ur window it’s happened thousands of times to people experienced or rookie drivers just remember to take extra precautions and bring loose items out of the cab especially heavy stuff

@@CopperCreekCuts my grandpa drove truck and it’s happened to him just a good rule of thumb never keep anything you don’t need in the truck because you WILL forget about it until it’s sitting on the window lol
