No one is above the law, Dean should have remembered that when you're a police officer, you're under oath to arrest anyone who breaks the law, even members of your own family. Hopefully he was arrested later for aiding and abetting a criminal. As for Dean's mom if she didn't want to be arrested, she shouldn't have shoplifted in the first place.

Instead of police investigating you or arrest you. Even worse, gang robbers just find you, chase you and hurt you to death ☠️💀 to take belongings you have. So have to think twice about that. Yes you will get devastated and refuse to want to arrest her to be locked away in jail, wouldn't be nice at all, whether you work as ( Police department) or not. But have stand by their law, if you got caught and captured the name of person, best to find them and arrest them until sometime else bad does happen to them! Not police! What else.
