My teacher once had her cat lost. She put missing cat announcement on social media and someone told her that her cat was seen in the other end of the city. She went there and took the cat that looked exactly like her cat. He didn’t react to his name though, and she was puzzled by it, but decided he was just stressed. Few days later her real cat returned home. She was amazed at how similar they looked: same peachy coloured fluffy fur, same white spots, same eye colour. They looked like identical twins. She kept them both 😊

My grandparents had a fluffy orange cat, Nicky. One day, Nicky asked to be let out into the garage to hang out with grandpa. Grandma obliged and opened the door, only to find Nicky was already sitting on Grandpa’s lap. Nicky had brought home his doppelgänger and it took that event for my grandparents to learn they had two cats. They named the second cat Nicholas. Nicky and Nicholas were best friends and cuddle buddies to the end of their days.

Something similar happened to me once. I had an orange derp named Stewart, sadly he never got his turn at the brain cell. He ran out one day as I was signing for a package, and I couldn't find him. I was devastated. The next day, I went looking for him again, and passed by a neighbor's house on the far side of the neighborhood. I saw a cat meowing in the window. It was Stewart! I don't know how or why, but apparently they had a cat that looked just like him. He was an outdoor cat though, and so when they were trying to let him in for the night, Stewart just showed up. They took him in thinking it was their cat 😂

This one took me a few days to finish since it was really emotionally difficult. I didn’t expect to be so angry with Olive- I want to cut her some slack for being so lonely, but I can’t get over how irresponsible she was adopting a cat without a backup caretaker or anything. The fact that she dumped the cat in the wild instead of at least leaving her near a shelter was really frustrating. It was really rough working through the whole mixed bag of feelings the characters evoked. The mantra about home being where you’re are needed feels less like a moral of the story and more a survival tactic. This game was really good, but man it messed me up. Thank you for coming to my TedTalk

My wife said to never speak to her about this game again because of how Olive and Mae treated the cats. :( I'm happy that the ending was good for Dawn and Sunrise, but... I guess the point is that humans are seemingly so....omnipresent and near omniscient to a furry family member that they can get away with the most awful things and there's nothing they can do about it. It's just the reality of life for a non-human creature. To be angry, upset, or vengeful towards a human is like being angry at a storm or vengeful about the ocean.

For those curious we just adopted another cat a few months ago from a shelter. We named him Dr. Pepper. It's clear he was a catch & release stray for a very long time and maybe deemed too feral to be housed. Happy to say he has found a wonderful home with us after a few months of patience. :)

I completely understand where your wife is coming from because it's so difficult to have to think about what pets go through every day and how incredibly powerless they are at the end of the day. But I appreciated that this game showed this so openly, not shying away from portraying that even the "good" owners can still do bad by their pets, even if they truly love them in their own way, just by making poor choices that harm the pet. And that at the end of the day, we need to take better care of them, because we are all they have! Also Dr. Pepper sounds awesome, I'm so happy you guys have each other now!

Cats don't usually get thrown out of cars as much as gets reported. Kittens have a tendency to climb into engine bays or wheel cases, because they're warm, secluded spots. They then get flung out onto the road when a car owner doesn't notice the cat and drives off with the kitten still there. Unless you see a person actually throwing a cat out of their car, it's probably safe to assume no foul play. Helps maintain one's faith in humanity a bit, too. Still, good on you for rescueing your cat!

@@Gfoot1 Thank you for this. I'm constantly tired of people saying "oh she was thrown/dropped from a car" when it's extremely unlikely, and the fact cats climb into car workings is a well known fact. I got way too emotionally attached to Dawn and Olive - To be quite honest, I was so genuinely upset with you when you chose to stay quiet while Olive was being rushed to the hospital - because I realised that it meant no one was reminded that Dawn was there and needed looking after and needed to be fed and taken care of. Even though rationally I knew it's just a game & not a real cat that was gonna be neglected, the panic and dread I felt was way too real. My 2 little female cats have free roam of our yard outside. Everything was fine for a couple years of living there, they’d go out and go no further than the neighbours yard, catching bugs and tiny mice and just enjoying the sunshine. Eventually everything became hostile when a couple of strays started coming into our backyard everyday. They would spray everywhere and fully stalked and attacked my cats on numerous occasions. My cats became afraid of going outside and seemed to be generally unhappy out of boredom. I didn’t know why the strays showed up or why they were roaming my backyard, I tried trapping them but catching cats is more difficult than I imagined. One night when I was having a cigarette out the front of my house, I noticed the woman in the house across the street from me, who is a close friend of my mother, came outside and placed dishes on the floor of her patio. The two strays then came, ate the food and immediately crossed the road heading for my house before I scared them off. I watched her feed those cats several nights in a row and was certain this was the reason strays were frequenting my yard. I told my mom to tell her friend to stop feeding the strays unless she plans on fixing them, vaccinating them and keeping them as pets. The next day I watched and she didn’t feed them. They yowled and begged at her door but she didn’t appear. She never fed them again and those cats moved on and I’ve never seen them since. Eventually my cats regained their confidence to be outside and they are noticeably happier because of it. I’m telling you this because although your stray cat may be sweet to you, unfixed cats are territorial, and your good intentions may be causing stress to your neighbours. They can carry diseases transmittable to other pets as well as internal parasites and fleas. One of the fights between the strays and my cats resulted in a $300 vet bill for an abscess which is not something I can easily afford. Remember that when you feed a stray, it will stick around for good and invite its friends to come as well. Cats are very able hunters, if you don’t feed them they’ll just go find something to eat elsewhere, they’ll survive just fine.

1. Watching this at night was a mistake. I went to bed in tears. 5 star play through, 4 star game 2. Game lost one star because I feel like the attempted murder of the mom was never really addressed? Like I 100% understand what they were going for: grief, despair, and caretaker burnout cloud judgement and can drive people to make terrible decisions. BUT ALSO, wtf?! If it hadn't been for throwing out the cat I would've had a lot more empathy for her in that moment. But that PLUS throwing out the cat--twice!--paints the daughter as cruel, which made it hard for me to buy into her as the loving-but-grieving daughter the rest of the time. 3. That said, I can see where she gets it from. On what planet is dumping your pet in the middle of nowhere a better option than taking it back to the shelter you got it from like... Two weeks ago? They would've taken the cat back! The dude there already knew you couldn't handle it! He was probably expecting someone in her family to return it as soon as she keeled over! 4. Speaking of Olive, I think math might not be her strong suit. She lost one cat, and adopted a second, near identical cat. One cat returned. Why did it NEVER occur to her "what happened to the other cat?" Does she lack object permanence when it comes to cats specifically? WTF Olive Anyway, great game. But those are the parts that still stick out to me this morning.

I have always avoided getting a new cat exactly like the one I am grieving. I go with a different breed or coat color so I don't compare or have unrealistic expectations of the new pet to act like the one who passed, possibly leading to resentment and unhealthy grieving a loss. I had a tortoiseshell cat go missing. I could never replace her or call another cat the same name.

I think it's the fickleness of humans. If something is not convenient anymore, they discard it. When I developed severe, life-threatening allergies to my cat, she was only a kitten I had adopted recently - never had a pet in the house, especially not one that slept in the room with me, so I couldn't know my windpipe would decide the dander was the enemy. I cried - or wheezed - the whole time and gave her to a friend, vaccines and operations payed for on my end, and she gives me photos. I still buy her gifts and miss her. I didn't even take her to a shelter - I took her to another HOME. I hate how this game ended but I love this game. It is important to show how cruel humans can be.

I've looked forward to this game! Now that I finished watching this, I have mixed feelings. It had good education points. Overall, it's a good story showcasing what all too commonly happens to pets. It was the ending that felt lackluster to me. Sure, Sunrise gets her home with Olive. We get the "happy ending" you'd hope for in a fairy tale. But this isn't a fairy tale. Why can she suddenly take care of/own two cats when she couldn't before? Why did we not get to see any closure to Sunrise's feelings of abandonment and betrayal toward Olive? We don't get that final confrontation for Sunrise to get her validation and for Olive to - maybe - get some redemption for acknowledging her wrongs. It's really unsatisfying.
@Grrimbark2 ай бұрын
Olive gained something that she didn't have before- help. She is finally in a retirement home that has staff trained to help her and make sure she is happy and comfortable in her final years. She was finally able to give Dawn and Sunrise a home because she was able to take care of herself, and know that help is OKAY. This game also seemed to have a message on realizing that you are getting older, and that you might need that additional help. You might feel ashamed and deny help, therefore denying care for yourself and that can impact SO much more than just you. When you let yourself suffer, those that love you will suffer too. It's okay to ask for help.

@@Grrimbark I understand that, but that does not in any way excuse her actions. And we do not get to see her growth, or receive any kind of closure for the MC. The ending is rushed and abrupt. A story can have a clear, excellent message (which I've said it did) and still be weakly written.

Hello, I don't usually comment, I find it awkward. But I wanted to say that I loved watching you play this game, mainly because I love your passion for cats! I have mixed feelings about the game - Olive's daughter was horrible by kicking out the first Dawn and then the way she mistreated the second Dawn, and whilst Olive abandoned Dawn II, she did redeem herself at the end by giving both a home, and a name! I'm a cat lover myself (fun fact apparently someone's preference for cats or dogs is in their DNA!) and I feel like I can also relate to Dawn II. I grew up in foster care, and was moved from place to place so never really had a place to call home. Some places I was moved from because I wasn't "good enough". I'm autistic and also have adhd so could be pretty intense as a child, but I do remember in one home I was in there was a cat named Squiggle who was my best friend. He was the most faithful and reliable "person" in my life. I ran away from there a few times because I didn't like being in that house, and it was always Squiggle who came to find me. Sometimes we spent a night sleeping on the street together, but he'd always stay close and never left me alone. When I was sick it was Squiggle who would be there for me, right on my bed and never leaving my side. When I left that place I so badly wished Squiggle could come with me, but he wasn't allowed. Initially I moved to a house about 5 minutes away, and Squiggle would show up every morning and accompany me on whatever I was doing that day (because I wasn't going to school) and would walk me back there later in the afternoon. When I left that area I had to say goodbye to Squiggle, which was so incredibly difficult. I heard that he was hit by a car a few days after I left the area, so that bit at the end, about home is being where you're needed most, really hit me as it felt like Squiggle was needed in that house when I lived there, and he was my home and my family, but he was no longer needed there when I left. That sounds a bit morbid though ... I like to think that I was just one if his nine lives, and for his next life he went to live with another family who needed him too. He was a good cat, and I miss him 🐱
@lachouette_et_le_phoqueАй бұрын
Wow, I'm sorry, that sounds like it was so hard! I'm glad you had Squiggle, he sounds like the most loyal and empathetic cat anyone could ever ask for. That's really extraordinary. Our cats don't react at all even if I cry or have a bad health day - I don't fault them for it, I still love them, but certainly comforting a human isn't universal in cats.

I have two cats. They were both abandoned in a cardboard box. Ella was the only adult in the box of kittens, so we have assumed that she is the mother of the litter. We took in her and one of the kittens and they are happy and loved in our home. In fact, the baby has been sleeping on my lap the entire video!

No worries, I balled my eyes out when Olive left Dawn in the middle of nowhere… my cat just looked at me weirdly like why are you crying so much. His name is LSD… and no the other cats don’t bully him for the name. He’s very chill and calm… probably high most of the time… that’s the reason for the name. Bro sleeps in my bed most of the time with me, now he does every single night since I’m sick. Very glad to have him.

Since I found no Comment Adressing it... I´m an absolute Cat lover. All feel so sorry for Olive, I feel more sorry for "our" Dawn. And even the other. Even if she couldnt care for both and had to give away one... why not at leat giving it back to the shelter? At least she wouldnt starve or get hit by a car or killed by a dog. To just let her be by herself is the worst she could have done. For me this Game was a nightmare to watch. Dawn never had a good expirence with a human. All her life she was suffering and disapointed again and again. If I where her, I would never trust any human again. Espacially not Olive or that horrible Daughter. I really hope she´ll never need to suffer again. Like... whats when Olive dies? Out on the street again? No one will care. Her daughter wont care. So they will be left alone again. If at least we could have seen many years happy in Dawns life... ups and downs are ok... but this have only be downs. It just made me sad. I dont like what the devs did here. Morph, you did well, as always.

I thought your playthrough of 'My Child Lebensborn' broke me. This had me crying the whole 2 hours and 43 minutes. And when the credits were rolling my own cat jumped onto me which had me laugh crying. My mum is an absolute cat lover and has 5 rescued cats. Her local vet asked her if she knew anyone who wanted a cat because if they couldnt find him a home they were going to put him down because he has a purr that sounds like the grudge girl and they couldnt work out why. Mum asked me if my friend wanted him and the moment I saw his face I knew I wanted him. I had to have my mum help me with the litter box at first cause that was the main reason I had never owned a cat or considered it. But after months of having to wear a gas mask while hyperventilating, I finally got over it (though I still have my moments). I absolutely love my cat, dont know where I'd be without him, so this game really hit hard.

Tbh i kinda wish Dawn didnt go back to Olive and instead went with a family/person who wouldn't abandon her in the wilderness. I get Olive couldnt take care of two cats but atleast take her back to the shelter where she would get food and have a roof over her head. Even after realising the cat was Dawn, she didnt give it any food knowing that the cat has not eaten in days. I get people do abandon cats in the wilderness but Olive is supposed to be the "good guy". I don't know anyine who would do what Olive did if they truly cared for cats. They could have atleast given Olive a chance to redeem herself for her action of abandoning Dawn but the story just ended like that never happened

I picked my cat up at the shelter a year ago and they said she was wary of strangers, so I started by introducing her to my bedroom only, got all her things, water and food bowl, plus the litter, all in that room.. Then I opened her carrier, sat down on the floor and read a book, while Sazzy explored my bedroom.. She slept in my bed that first night and she's been sleeping there since.. Also, she wasn't a senior, but an adult, but she's a Bengal and thus a high activity cat and she’d been really struggling finding her forever home, so it feels good that she's here..

Olive is the villain of this game
@heiltotheking2 ай бұрын
the problem is, its hard to see her as a villain. She's obviously deteriorating mentally and physically. She didn't WANT to hurt the cat, but he couldn't tell the two cats apart. She's a villain in the cats eyes, but for us it's a bit more complicated. I'd blame the daughter, because Dawn was a comfort to Olive and Olive was a comfort to Dawn.
@Mcflirts2 ай бұрын
@@heiltotheking I agree. I don't know what Mae's deal is but I think she is the villain. However dropping her off at the meadow was... less than logical. "No cages", yes, but shelter would have been a much better decision for care, and for a new family.

The little boy who rejected the kitty as a Christmas present made me really aggrovated. My mom gave me a kitten for Christmas to help deal with her divorcing my dad just under 18 years ago. Misty was my Christmas kitty and I’d do anything to have her back and healthy, I did the best I could for her until her kidneys shut down in June and I had no choice but to let her go. That bratty kid needs a reality check, the unconditional love from an animal can’t be compared to inanimate objects.

I tried to hold it, but after I hit 2 hours I cried like an ugly baby. The scene where Olive and Dawn are rubbing faces just reminded me of my own cats and i BROKE When i first got my cats, it was my mom's idea and it was meant to be a surprise for me so i couldn't turn them down and we both had to live w them. The reason i wanted to turn down the prospect of having cats was because my mom was allergic and a neat-freak. She was also planning to marry a guy who had even worse allergies than she did, and within a month of having them she said we'd have to give them away. I was stubborn about it tho, and knew her allergies wouldn't be a problem after another week or so (I was right - she's not allergic to them anymore), but she still said we'd have to give them away. A year passed and she would remind me at random times that they couldn't stay and every time she did, I'd ball my eyes out. I used to bury my face in their fur and one of them would always give me kisses and act like a concerned parent whenever I called her. The whole experience still sits with me, and that bloody face rub scene just took my soul and twisted it until it snapped. I'm just glad that it's been literal years since then, and i still quite literally have them on the couch w me. That was an unnecessary set of stressful warnings and events omd☠

Recently adopted a dilute tortoise shell cat from our local humane society. She was the last of her colony left at the shelter and was badly bullied after the last of her kittens were adopted. When we adopted her she had a large gash on the top of her head from the other cats. after adoption, she didn't come out for nearly two months but now, after six months, she never leaves my side. We named her Montana bc her colouring reminded us of the mountains there. She sleeps with me every night and her favourite spot is either on my back or on my stomach. I love her more than anything

I’m all grown up now and live in a big town, but still rescue cats when I can. I usually go for the shy, half wild ones. It takes a lot of work but it’s so rewarding when they realise they are safe and they don’t have to hoard food around the house anymore.

Catios are good for them, but you gotta remember cats domesticated themselves and they are invasive to wildlife. And while you can keep your cat outside or indoors…they need lots of enrichment. If they don’t get enough enrichment and healthy food (expensive kind), they will terrorize your house bc they’re bored. Get them microchipped if you’re going to let them outside.

He got out at night when we opened a door and the moment before we could catch him, our neighbor's dog chased him off. I was devastated. Some of the worst 10 days of my life. Looked everyday for him. He came back one night in a hurry and panic and I've been carefully watching him ever since.
