The raping the sister part is supposed to be shocking but it isn’t cause the dialogue involves him literally hitting on his sister every chance he gets. I mean I’d understand a compliment from a sibling every now and then but he does it nearly every day. That’s subtle writing for ya folks!

I actually think your own theory could have worked as a much better film. If instead of being a demonic presence, the film's real "villain" is the brother, who was actually doing all that stuff to his sister but was gaslighting her into believing it was something else. I think it would have made an interesting take on these kinds of "demon" films, and could have served as an allegory, as well. Did the script writer have that much talent, though? Of course not.

When the found footage style became popular, I had dreams that someday there would be a full length action found footage movies from like the shoulder cams the marines wore in Aliens. To date the only 1st person action movies are Hardcore Henry and that one scene from the Doom movie with the Rock. Found footage just became an excuse to make cheap horror movies.
@bathumb454 жыл бұрын
There are some genuinely good and creative found footage films, though. They can be very well made if enough care and time are put into them. Cloverfield, V/H/S, The Blair Witch Project, Man Bites Dog(SERIOUSLY recommend this one if you havent seen it), REC., The Poughkeepsie Tapes, Creep 1&2, etc. I totally see your point though, its way overused and has lost its luster in recent years.

That's just what studios do. • 24:45 - That's the reason that a lot of directors make bad movies, to get a girl to do a nude scene. ¬_¬ • 28:05 - You missed the best part of the movie, the sound she makes when she croaks, it's so fake it's hilarious. 😂 • 30:44 - Bruce Davison? Smaller studios will do this sometimes (not quite to the extent of Asylum) where they will take an existing B movie/Direct to video low budget affair and rename it to cash in on a trend. Or a studio remarkets a film after one of it's former stars becomes more famous. Recently Jesse Eisenberg just sued a studio for remarketing a film he did a long time ago as if he was the lead actor, with his face front and center of=n the cover when he only had a bit part in the movie.

Bad directors make a movie so they can shoot a nude scene. Great filmmakers only do it when it's critical to the plot. That's something Neil Breen told me. He also noted that a great director doesn't force anyone else to shoot a love scene with a woman. He takes that burden on himself.
