and you chose one type of strain to collect single ascospore and mate with each other ...what if we do the same process with 2 different variety of strain and mate there single ascospores for form new hybrid strain ...i am new and curious to do it if you give me little notes on the process and suggestions

is this necessary to 7-8 ascospores isolate is must to mating with each other or we just do it with less no of isolates
