I'm very very excited for whats to come from this game engine. I spent hours and hours looking around and testing different game developments, with absolutely no coding. To accomplish this you have a lot of scripts already attached to items in the core community that you can snag, and reattach to your own created items. Afterwards, modify. I'm excited because I noticed everyday as I played the community is adding tons of new items over and over. As this network gets big, people will be able to make way cooler games faster, because more scripts, assets will be available to them. I really like the vision that this platform is taking. Yes! It's a post processing effect called "Advanced Sketch Line Post Process." You can search for it in Core Content or find it under the "Post Process" section and simply drag it into your hierarchy. :)

It looks amazing in theory, but, sadly, in a very early stage atm. Every single unique idea i had bumped into wall of not having the right mechanics implemented into the game, so i either have to code it (that i can't do), or wait for other players to come up with a exact feature i want (that are very unlikely). Even most basic things like weapon pickup respawns need to be downloaded from community content since kit does not officially supports it, and stuff like spawning waves of npc's... i simply haven't found it at all. Still looking forward to future updates with hope that one day this kit will become advanced enough to create complicated game designs without needing to make your own scripts.

As far as complexity goes, you can only make simpler games without coding. This is true for all "codeless" game creation software out there. Even the most notable ones - Game Maker Studio, Construct, RPG Maker, they all provide a way to actually program your own logic, despite being touted as codeless. Expecting Core to handle complex custom mechanics is a bit too much, to be honest. It's not like they can anticipate every single game mechanism out there. Why not collaborate with someone who knows how to code? It's not like you're forced to work alone. It's true that as of this writing, Core hasn't yet come up with an official collaboration tool, safe for the "editable" feature on a game, however game codes are just texts. You can easily share and copy paste them, so finding a collaborator in that field is actually ideal.

@@marioprawirosudiro7301 I wish it was possible. I am trying to make games for my enitre life, and the only time when i managed to get game to release state - it when i decided to find team myself. It took A LOT of time and at the end i found only artist, so we worked without programmer and faced all the issues related to it. And even then, my partner were busy irl, so in 5 years we only made a several hours prologue (it was well received in Steam nontheless). Still i was incredibly lucky to find a person who worked with me for so long. Every other of my attempts to join a team failed because after few months (or few years) teams just stopped working, and almost always without even explaining why. Also since i am a writer and a game designer, it was difficult to even find those teams in first place, since people usually only look for tech specialists. And sine i am quite asocial and don't have any leadership skills, i have no means to convince people to follow me instead. There are still big difference if we compare Core, for example, with Rpg maker. Rm has all basic features for genre covered, in smallest details, giving quite long list of tools to create various events in game. Only thing it lacks is graphical assets and good battle system. Core, in the other hand, lacks such basic systems as weapon respawn, or even having a several weapons at once, despite being built mostly for shooter games. And while it (somehow) can be fixed with community efforts, it's still not possible to make, for example, basic pve wave-surviving game, because there is no easy way to spawn those npc's as needed. I believe it's all because it's in early acsess yet, since people say that their competitor, Dreams, has much bigger functional atm. Sadly it's not on pc, so my only remaining option is wait for Core or some other competitor to add more features... I have no other choice because making games are only thing i am interested in in life, and the only way to do it for me - is finding proper creation kit.

@@ElvenNeko Um, I wouldn't say Core is largely built for shooter games. It IS largely built for multiplayer though, so that might give off that impression. I mean, Core has a generic slashing combo system, which would only be found, usually, in RPGs, not shooters. Also, I don't think I can remake Skyrim in RPG Maker without coding it myself. And RPG Maker is genre specific - it's built for RPGs. And yet AFAIK it has no builtin support for action RPGs, which is a VERY popular subgenre. Like I said, your best bet is to collaborate with someone else. And if you don't wnat to do that (or can't, for some reason), then you'd have to learn how to code. Again, it's true for all codeless systems. They simply cannot put in all possible mechanics into the system. Take me for an example. I know how to code, but suck at art. Like you, I've had bad experiences with teams in the past, so during game jams, I usually go solo. But since I'd still need art, I learn how to do it. Even got myself a drawing tablet. I still suck at it, but at least I'm getting better now. That's just how it is. That kind of tool you described would never exist, unless your design is simple enough that the creator of that tool just happened to have all the necessary components built in. If not, you're stuck with waiting for a tool that'll never exist, and you'll never make your dream game. Trust me, it's worth trying again. It always is. Take it from a guy who's failed multiple times before. 😉

While on the front page of the Core client (hit ESC if you're in Core World or another game) and look to the upper right hand corner. To the right of your username, click the menu icon (three stacked lines) and select Settings. In the window that pops up, select Video from the left hand column. All of the settings you're looking for are in there.

While in the editor press ESC to bring up the settings menu. Navigate to the Video section. There are a lot of different parameters you can mess with, View Distance is listed first under "Quality Presets." Hope that helps!

Core is geared towards making 3D games. You can create 2.5D (ala Little Big Planet). Some people have been able to fake 2D by locking the camera and being very clever is asset placement.
