Accordingto hadith is to advice them directly rather than publicly chriticise them as that is a fitnah, 2 to 3 hadith from saheeh eukaryotic. Fyi sami hamdi has also regretted speaking out as many companies and countires are no longer working with him. Because they think he is started creating a fitna against them. Ultimately if the Dr did this, he would subatage himself and it would also cause possible civil war or political problem in those countires and mihammed be upon him said fitnah is for worse than death. Allah knows best

When he says "backward" keep in mind his paradigm of ranking is Western-Oriented, therefore not an original paradigm free of the Colonial influenced perception of "inferiority complex". Contrariwise, we (i.e., him and his like-minded troupe) are backward precisely because they've internalized a conceptual model that places the West and its impact at the top of the hierarchy while those who choose a different paradigm at the bottom. In other words, you look down on those whom you look up to, look down on. The reality is to be "backward" in a race to the bottom, ought to be a badge of achievement not denigration. If you were to ask him what are the "markers" of being "forward" the unoriginality of his inferiority complex worldview would repeat the same internalized tropes produced by his Western Colonial Masters, this phenomena is not new, we have Al-Tahtawi, Afghani, Abdu et al as useful case-studies, these are just their intellectual grandchildren propagating a rebranded Western Worldview as Taha Husain, one of their golden boys once put it: "Let us adopt western civilization in its totality and all its aspects, the good with the bad and the bitter with the sweet" and as Badawi summarized this imitative impulse: "Modern Muslim thought emerged as a reaction to the impact of the west upon Muslim society. The west forced its way into the Dar AI-Islam, interfering in its affairs and reshaping its destiny. The initial reaction of the Muslims consisted of fortifying themselves with western weaponry. It soon, however, became clear that a modern army presupposed a modern society. The age of the savage fighter descending upon the civilized world to ravage and plunder was over. Military power became one of the dimensions of the degree of modernity. The influence of the west stemmed from the example of the victor whose culture and system of values carry the prestige of the overlord. But even more important than the western example was modernity. The accumulation of knowledge has become institutionalized. Research laboratories and universities are driven by an unsatiated curiosity to discover and invent. It no longer responds solely to human needs. It invents them. But modernity having grown in the western environment has been stamped with its own characteristic colour. There was naturally confusion in the minds of the Muslims as to what constituted progress and what was specifically western. The distinction between the west and modernity, and consequently westernization and modernization, became blurred. The westernizers took it for granted that to be modern the Muslim community must be western. The way to progress was assumed to be one way - the western way."
