Core Nexus 2 Review

Flew my brand new Nexus 2 kite at a gusty new spot yesterday. Couldn't get a feel for it, maybe because of the unfamiliar location and kite. During turns, it seemed to swing lower in the wind window than my F-ONE Bandit.

I've been riding XR4s (7/9/12/15) mostly twin tip. I started foiling this year, and doing a bit of foiling. Would I be disappointed by the nexus jumping or wind range? Or should I think about introducing it at the ligherwind side with the 15m or 12? Thanks for the review

Cool. I think that you are on the right track to split the quiver. Do Nexus 2 7m and 9m and XR6 12m and 15m. That way you get the best of both. The Nexus 2 will have a different feel than the XR4, but you will love it. In those winds you will gave plenty of range and boosting too. Those sizes will be perfect for foil too. The bigger sizes with the XR6 you will freak on the improvements from the XR4. You can foil with the 12m in really light air if you need that big of a kite for foiling. I say go XR6 in the big sizes and for the power. Give us a call at the shop when you are ready and we can trade in your old wives to get you lined up with the new gear. STOKED!!

@@REALmattnuzzo thanks! this was the type of recommendation I was looking for. I just did a session on the foil with the 15m... and it was passable, so if the XR6 is better, I'll be super psyched. I'm doing about 20% foiling, 15% surfing, and the rest twin tipping, so its kind of a hard blend to choose kites for. Thanks!

Thanks for the comment. The Slingshot Rally GT and Core Nexus 2 are very different kites. The Rally GT is a much fatter kite and more oriented to the straight beginner. It is a very ease and slow kite. The Nexus 2 is great for beginners as well because it is so freaking stable overhead. The Nexus 2 has way more top end performance in multiple areas of kiteboarding. We recommend the Slingshot Rally GT for those riders that want the easiest kite to learn with and want to go back and forth mowing the lawn. The Nexus 2 is better suited for the riders wanting something easy to learn on but plan on ripping it hard in multiple disciplines of kiteboarding.

Comparing to a Bandit the construction does not look very good or simple. But I knew the Nexus has its lovers for a reason I guess.
