To be honest the king is in a tough spot but he put himself there. He could have avoided this by naming your daughter your heir to begin with going to give tradition and wasting your effort your time and your wife’s life you could still have your queen there wouldn’t be as much trouble and you wouldn’t have to wed a 12 or 16-year-old

Oh yeah I have the book of Fire and Blood it is as thick as the Bible itself. I read half and it’s CRAZY and the fact that George RR Martin the author is part of this project unlike GOT, i think this a better than GOT and I hope that they make a prequel of Aegon Conquest! Though she is young I think you should’ve listened to Laena when she was talking to the King. Maybe a foreshadow. 🤷🏿‍♂️

If Viserys had married Laena Velaryon, they would not have consummated the marriage until she was at least 14. (still too early, but thankfully no one expected that little girl to be dumped into the bed of any new husband to have sex immediately). I thought the scene was exceptionally well-written and well-acted and wished you could have shown a few more seconds of it. Viserys was obviously horrified at the thought of marrying such a small, physically immature girl, however cute and smart she was, he could barely summon up the fortitude to put something resembling a smile on his face so as to be kind to Laena; but he looked like he could not retreat from the situation fast enough (he wanted his model of Old Valyria and maybe Alicent's more soothing presence). Laena was perky, all dressed up and full of Velaryon pride and purpose and, due to her age, unable to understand all the political and sexual ramifications of the situation into which she was suddenly put. I personally believe that the 'date' with little Laena pushed Viserys to decide to marry Alicent. Viserys did not really want to marry anyone. But he didn't want to be bombarded by proposals of marriages with little girls, Laena or others. Alicent was a known quantity to Viserys; what's more, she was physically more mature, he could look at her and not be horrified by thinking he was about to have marital sex with a child (in Westeros, a 15-year-old girl was considered an adult), she had been a quiet, graceful presence in his period of mourning. In the Game of Thrones novels, Sansa is literally almost dragged to the altar for her marriage to Tyrion (she believes, up until a few hours before the wedding, that she is going to marry the heir of Highgarden, Willas Tyrell, who she has never seen, but has heard good things about from his sister Margaery and at least he's neither a Lannister nor a dwarf and she'll get to escape King's Landing and being Joffrey and Cersei's hostage) at the age of 12. Tyrion tries to seduce her, coerces her to remove her clothing during their wedding night and, while she is standing there terrified, removes his own clothing and exhibits his own naked body while telling her he could be a fantastic lover in bed (which freaks Sansa out). Tyrion then gives Sansa the option of not consummating the marriage until she wants to; and she asks something like 'what if that never happens'; and Tyrion agrees but in a rather snarky way. But the worst thing is that he tells her, after asking Sansa's age and while looking Sansa's naked or semi-naked and very frightened self, "you are a child but I desire you" - which certainly freaked me out as a reader. Sansa's horror is from a multitude of sources - Tyrion is a Lannister, Tyrion is a dwarf and while Sansa pities his physical condition she certainly doesn't desire him, Sansa isn't really mature enough, emotionally or physically, for a successful marriage to anybody. Also, Sansa's family did not consent to the marriage with Tyrion; Sansa's family is at war with the Lannisters. Originally, when Ned Stark and Robert Baratheon agreed to the betrothal of Sansa and Joffrey, Ned insisted that Sansa not actually marry until Joffrey until she was sixteen. This was fairly common in noble and royal Houses of Westeros.
