Not on strap though. Refs grip outside straps and inside straps and the refs should be strict. Now, people like Devon say that if the refs are strict, then the match takes forever to start but that is because Devon wants to cheat and if the refs doesn't allow that, it will take forever to start. But if one or two matches are strictly reffed, even if the match takes long time, the cheaters will lose ultimately and then people Will stop cheating eventually because losing on fouls is disgusting.

In local tourneys yeah refs grip every time, at the highest level make it straight to straps. I love the sport but waiting for over 5 minutes just for both guys to slip and get put in straps anyway is soo annoying. Tbh going straight to straps wouldn't favor Devon as he likes to tire his opponents hands out before the match even begins with all the false starts and fouls. Start in the straps, 2 fould and ya lose the round... competitors will soon start respecting the rules once they are consistently enforced across the board by INDEPENDANT REFEREES. Which brings me to another point, why does EvW and KoTT have different rules?? The sport needs UNIFIED rules that are at every world level event. Otherwise there will be people saying "well if this was at KoTT then he wouldn't have lost" They want the sport to be a global sport yet can't settle the rules in its 2 leading organisations which are both owned by the same people..
