The song was originally for a girl that hurt him. His best friend helped him with the song but then passed away. So when he sings it, it’s especially emotional because it’s not only is about her, but it reminds him of the loss of his friend.

One thing I love about Metal Music is that they typically deal with dark, depressing, sad, painful topics and non-metal fans see that as something deranged or twisted but what they don't realize is that it is therapeutic, it is cathartic and it is the reason why studies have shown that metal fans are more mentally and emotionally equipped to deal with the hardships of life than non-metal fans. We handle those dark and depressing moments better because our idea of fun is enjoying art that involves those dark and depressing moments. In spirituality, shadow work is the act of recognizing the lessons of your own dark side to become more self aware. People who live in constant light just don't get it.

Allowing yourself to feel those "dark" emotions is much more healthy than repressing them and/or denying they exist.

Great performance from Corey, thing about just him and his guitar there’s nowhere to hide - it’s just him and his talent and charisma to get the crowd with him. To my mind THE best performance of this song ever!

This entire show was absolutely amazing. Even if you don't react to it, you should watch the full live show. "Corey Taylor Live in London."

If you like Corey Taylor's voice, you should watch "Sound City- From Real to Reel" It's something he did with Dave Grohl from Foo Fighters / Nirvana. Watch the 20-minute version of it and you can see them in the studio making the song. A camera in the booth with Corey right in his face. You get to watch him up close and personal being an absolute powerhouse

Maybe because SLIPKNOT type of music is so different than Stone Sour that was always harder to get that this was written for Slipknot.Stone Sour to many including me was always the band that seemed deeper and closer relationships,even the ones that didnt work,and looking back you may see wasn't meant to work .
@jseedoubleu2 ай бұрын
Corey wrote this song for an ex. However he didnt think ot was good enough to be on a Slipknot album. Bassist and best friend Paul Grey pushed him to add the song to the album last minute which ended up becoming a huge hit. Paul sadly passed a few months agter the album dropped.

I find it so odd that fans argue with the man who wrote the song on whether or not he wrote it for Slipknot or Stone Sour; you would think Corey would know best which band he wrote a song for.

Right? 😂

@@nikkireviews Granted, with Snuff being less aggressive than the songs Slipknot is most known for, I can kind of see where the fans were coming from, but, all it should've taken is Corey explaining once that "Yeah, I wrote that for Slipknot, not Stone Sour."

Originally, but the reason it's emotional is because of a death of a friend, not a girl.
