Pogroms against Jews were carried out in Hebron, Jaffa, Safed, and Jerusalem before Hitler even rose to power. However, it should be noted that Arab Muslims and Christians also protected Jews from these attacks as well. Likewise, there are Israeli Jews (particularly rabbis) defending Palestinian farmers from violent settlers and soldiers. @@freejay3 Well, again, for the record, I don't agree with them, nevertheless, most of them who say they're anti-Zionist, with the exception of Neturei Karta, will not demonstrate for the Palestinians. That's one particular extreme group. But I don't see it as hypocritical necessarily. Their attitude is that Jews have always lived there, and should always live there as long as they follow Torah and mitsvot, some come from families that lived there before Israel became independent, but they don't want to live under a non-religious Jewish government before Moshiach and prefer living under a non-Jewish government. Meanwhile they'll just isolate themselves from the Israeli government as much as possible. It seems consistent to me. I'm a secular Zionist myself, but I'm glad the question was asked because a lot of anti-Israel people love to say that the motive of anti-Zionist ultra-Orthodox Jews was pro-Palestinian, but many were clear that they pray and hope for an ingathering of all the world's Jews in Eretz Yisra'el and a holy kingdom be established and that the Arabs should either serve them or even "evaporate" when that day comes. I'm an "ultra orthodox" jew and I have always been taught that when the Messiah will come it will be in a miraculous way and the sanctity will be so much visible that every single human, and even the whole creation will recognize G-d's kingdom and will serv Him faithfully, to be part of his Holiness. Ultra Orthodox Jews (Haredim) are not monolith people. 1. This applies for the Ashkenazi Haredim. The ones who live in the West Bank settlements and Israel proper are the Haredim (like the Hassidic Ger, Belz, Vishnitz, Breslovs, Chabad etc and the Yeshivish/Misnagdic Perushim) who are non-Zionist but regard the State of Israel as similar to other gentile government of the other countries. They oppose the secular Zionism but accept that Israel is their country and their land. That is why they participate in the government and obey the laws just like how their grandparents live in the diaspora. And somehow they will fight for their own interests too (for instance to get exemption for Torah studies and get government sponsors, religious authority etc). They regard Israeli Jews who aren’t observant as fellow Jews who are deviated and have to be brought closer to Judaism as per their belief. They also believe as long as Messiah has not come yet, they are still in spiritual exile despite acknowledging they are in the Land of Israel with the rest of People of Israel. Some of them are even pro-Israel like the Chabad and the Nanach Breslovers and many Misnagdic/Yeshivish Jews while maintaining very thin line definition of non-Zionist. They do Kiruv (religious outreach) towards secular communities to bring them closer to Judaism. Some especially in the Misnagdic communities do participate in the Israeli Rabbinate and have ties with the Ashkenazi Datim (Religious Zionists/Modern Orthodox olim from US/Central Orthodox olim from UK). The Hassidic Haredim unite under Agudat Yisrael while the Yeshivish/Misnagdic Haredim unite under Degel Hatorah. Both groups unite under United Torah Judaism. Regarding Sephardi Haredim like the rabbis in the Shas but they are Zionist and participate in the Israeli Rabbinate. Many Sephardi/Mizrahi communities who are despite secular and traditionalists still regard them as binding figures. 2. Meanwhile the Haredim who specifically live in Meah Shearim which is the stronghold for anti-Zionist Ultra-Orthodox Jews (Satmar, Dushinsky, Toldos Aharon, Toldos Avrohom Yitzchok etc and some Sephardi Haredim anti Zionists) do not want anything to do with the government and the State of Israel. They could accept any other gentile government as long as it is not by Jewish government whether it is religious or secular. They do not accept the Israeli Rabbinate, neither Agudat Yisrael nor Degel Hatorah. They have their own ruling council named Edah Hacharedis. According to their belief, only gentiles can rule the Land of Israel. They acknowledge that the land is biblically belonging to the Jews but must be ruled by gentiles as long as the Messiah has not come yet. These Haredim do not participate in political argument Israel vs Palestine. They don’t have opinion about that. If one day the government belong to the Palestinians, they will just live in their own stronghold and do not want their daily activities disturbed. If let say the Palestinian government want them to join army, prevent them doing their religious worship then either they will fight against it too or move out of the land just like any similar stories of Jewish history. In the video, some of the guys have different reasonings about being anti-Zionist (some is mild, some is strong) denoting their different background of the Haredi groups within Meah Shearim 3. The Neturei Karta is also part of Meah Shearim and is a staunch anti-Zionist group but a small fraction under Rabbi Moshe Hirsch go further by showing support of the Palestinian movement by joining rallies and expressing thoughts on forums and talks. These small fringe part of Neturei Karta people are put on cherem (excommunicated) by the Edah HaCharedis and not every NK member in Israel support them.
