Paul, sometimes a model just welcomes your restoration magic! The model casting itself was distressed but not damaged appreciably, and because of your wise purchase, the end results are magnificent!! As good, if not BETTER than the original out of it's box! After watching the debacle of the Crescent Toys Mercedes Race Car, and the shoddy metallurgy and casting imperfections...this Corgi toy showed it's manifest superiority in every way!! It's small wonder Corgi Toys are so sought after, and now being re-created perfectly by the Corgi Car Club. Congrats, Paul!! Beautiful job!!

I am a huge fan of the Volkswagen Beetle -- I have multiple books, magazines, models, etc., and I have only ever seen one other example of a Beetle used by a police department. It was used for parking enforcement (I do not recall where). Thank-you for the excellent video!

This restoration is excellent and I am hoping to restore my own which I've had for 55 years using your video as an inspiration.. In the description you say you painted with the original green colour and go on to appear to use a spray can paint in the video. It would be really helpful if you could show us the can itself or tell us the actual colour you've used. I also noticed it on the Thunderbirds restoration (again excellent). Please could you give us more information on the colours you used in your videos and how you matched them.

Very nice restauration ! I think I can recall the same car in red, also steered by a lamp on the roof. Was it a fire brigade car ? I guess there was also a VW Beetle steered by a spare tyre on the roof. Was it a safari car ?

I had the rally version that was steered by a roof-mounted spare wheel. In the 70's they remade this as a driving test learner's car with cones. I had the earlier, Austin A60 driving test car with steering.

I really enjoy your videos. They give me a lot of inspiration. There is a lot of comments so mayb you have seen this before; you say you use the "same colour green". How did you figured out what that green was? Next This paint job went really good. However I noticed that some of your paint jobs is not smooth so I am wondering if you use to high air presure or the paint is to thick or maybe you just do one cover paint job? I think you will much better result if you use lower air presure and thinner paint but the paint it 2 times same colour? Next in this video you started with the dark green colour and next then white. Most modellers prefer to start with the lightes colour first because it will need a thinner layer of the darker colour to cover the white instead of opposite there need a thicker layer of white paint to cover the dark underlaying colour. Are you not taking that into consideration? But I love this video I had the same car but used. Fantastic to see it like i just went out of the factory :-) Next regarding the tyres maybe I am wrong here but the tires looked very worn and maybe it was just hard to see the details in the video. But for me it looked like the patern in the tires was supposte to all overthe tires but was worn out on the original tires? If I am right here, would had been difficult for you to remake those patern in the form before you made the new ones?

Thank you very much. Some models do not come out smooth because it does not fill the metal, which is sometimes very irregular, I apply a primer on it and then paint with normal paint. If I try to get very smooth, I put more layers of clearcoat, but without exaggeration. I don't quite understand what you mean with your tires. In the Volkswagen Corgi model, I was not able to create tires with the perfect tread, because I used glued used tires. Best wishes

Was tempted at one point with this or the rally version to get a cheapie & just keep the wheels & put them in the A60 driving school car. Might look a bit more authentic with 15mm wheels instead of the stock 12mm it was supplied with. Chassis wouldn't drag the ground then. Found the Corgi Vanguard A60 more authentic. DS version got given to a lad to play with
