Corgi restoration Rover 2000 Monte Carlo No. 322. Cast model

Today I am renewing the Rover 2000 model from the rare Monte Carlo series. Meetoy added crystal halogen lights and eye-catching two-color paint to the standard model. To display subtitles in your language at the bottom of the video, press the letter C on your computer or the three dots on your mobile in the video. The video has multiple language subtitles. Three types of models were produced from the Monte Carlo series. It was Rover, Mini and Citroen DS. All of them had decals with car numbers and white roofs. My Rover was complete. The previous owner repainted the model dark brown. The tires were not suitable for renovation because they were very hardened and cracked. I restored the factory painting and made copies of polyurethane tires. Rover did not have any opening elements. Corgi compensated the brand's fans by installing plastic headlamps with a light duct in the rear window. The illusion of light was very good. As usual, I made decals and a box with a sticker promoting this model. This was information for buyers that this Rover 2000 is a limited edition. Thank you for watching the movie. Both my paternal grandparents and my dad worked at the Mettoy factory in Swansea. We had all the cars as kids, most seconds or issue, staff sale etc.

Very nice restoration and model That tunnel for front lights is a bit of a strange idea. You need a flashlight or other source of light for it to work. Whatever works I guess, maybe it was a lot of fun for kids.

Yeah, the Trans-O-Lite technique was only used on very few models. The list included this Rover in two versions (civilian (#252) and rally (#322)), the Buick Riviera (with (Gift Set 31) or without (#245) boat on trailer), Commer van (sold both separately (#465) and in the Commer Constructor Gift Set 24) and the VW Transporter Toblerone van (#441) - the term "Trans-O-Lite" was also used about #471 "Smith's Karrier Mobile Canteen", but on this one the system wasn't used for the (head)lights, but for a sign on the front and for a "fluoroscent tube" inside the mobile shop iteself. In my opinion, every Corgi collection should include at least one of these models since Trans-O-Lite is a typical example of the many weaird (and wonderful) inventions made in this era in the mad race against the competitors (minly Dinky.)

My problem with the Corgi car was always that the decals were out of scale from the original cars of 1966. I did a Code3 of the car that started from Poland, and was the only one of the four cars to finish. It came up for sale in UK recently. I have pictures of the restoration I did, but cannot post them here, sadly...

My Brother had one of these Rover 2000 in 1973, he put a diesel engine in it, they were very thirsty cars, I've had several Rovers, i've got a 75 now, i have to say out of 40 cars the Rovers were the best, the worst car i had was an Audi Avant, followed by a VW Touareg, nicest car i had was a 2.5i Rover Sterling, i brought it to Poland on holiday in the 90's, my family couldn't believe i only paid £1250 for it
