Hello mate, could you be so kind as to explain what red interest means? I also have a rough time understanding boat mechanics, could you just have infinite boats floating with 5x the cap of troops?

look at your score at leaderboard, multiple it by 100, its your red interest which means you will get less amount of growth after hitting that and will eventually stuck with %0 growth.

for example at 2:26 his score is 25619 and he will hit red interest at 2.561.900 after that he will start gaining much less and will stuck around 3.4m

boats get attritition and lose troops, there were some boat glitches but they fixed it

Interest is higher as you build up to the maximum amount of troops your land can support but decreases as you approx your maximum. Red interest is when the interest have decreased to about 1% meaning that you basically have all the troops you're going to get and is a warning sign to donate or attack so you dont stagnate
