Corn Pie [ Savory ] - Episode 146

1/4 cup chopped red bell pepper
1/4 cup chopped green bell pepper
1/4 cup grated carrot
2 pimento peppers chopped
1/2 cupd chopped onion
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup flour
1 cup corn meal
1 cup shredded cheese
1 cup evaporated milk/carnation milk
6 tbsp . butter
2 eggs
1 tin cream style corn
1 tin corn drained
salt to taste
1 tsp canola oil

Looks good. I usually make mine without flour, eggs or baking powder. I use corn flour, salt, sugar, cheese, milk, onions, garlic, bell peppers, pimento, whole grain corn, cream corn. Taste is absolutely amazing and it's so satisfying. I do not cook my ingredients prior to baking either. I mix all my ingredients and put in a greased dish and bake for about an hour at 350 degrees.

Thank you for your recipe. I usually make this using a different recipe. I like that you cooked the veggies and the seasoning before baking. So I tried your version which is a bit longer than mine. I love all your recipes except for this one......... corn pie don't need flour. My recipe for corn pie is.......... 1 whole unsalted butter , 1 cup of milk, melt butter the butter remove from the heat combine both milk n butter n set aside. In a large bowl add 2 tins of cream style corn , no whole corn needed, add some grated carrots, grated onions some chuped chive. Don't forget to add the milk and butter along with sugar , 2 eggs and last but not lease some grated cheese. place in a baking pan , covering the top with cheese of course bake for 30 mins. Hope u don't mind trying my recipe. I just place d method n the ingredients in one sorry bout that.

Hi, I tried this recipe unfortunately the flour did not allow it to bind well..,,it was to moist inside... cornmeal throughout would have been fine. But the flavor was really nice....

As I said in the video this was shared with me from a friend, everyone makes theirs differently. Baking powder helps it rise, flour and eggs helps it bind so it holds together.

The reason why I asked is because I don't use egg and flour in it. It came out just as good. I was just concerned about it getting enough moisture doubling the recipe and leaving out the egg n flour
