It makes me happy to see the many comments in support of Palestine and Dr. West. However, those that don’t understand why this channel is posting this content should take the time to try to understand something. A lot of subcultures, like hardcore, came about as a response to oppressive ideologies (racism, fascism, imperialism, capitalism, etc.) Speaking truth to power is a pillar of this genre. It’s also about solidarity with society’s most vulnerable - BIPOC, the LGBTQIA+ community, the working class, disabled folks, our unhoused friends… and all those that want to live happy lives free from true oppression. There is so much art and music that has created a safe space for people to really express their frustrations and fears in a setting that upholds collectivism and community. Being against the genocide of the Palestinian people is NOT antithetical to this art form, nor is platforming the voices of those (like Dr. West) who are calling for an end to the suffering. I am grateful for this KZbin channel, not just for exposing me to new bands, but for staying consistent with the hardcore punk message. “We’re tired of your abuse - we’re gonna rise above” Also, Nazi punks fuck off. What does genocide of poor people in a prison state have to do with hardcore?? Hmmm maybe read the lyrics sometime, genius. 😂🤦 "Hardcore" is not a vacuum of loud uninspired music. It's hardcore punk. A very, very anti-genocide, anti oppression of the poor and working class, anti-corporate, anti-imperialist, anti-oligarchy, anti-police state, anti-totalitarianist, anti-corruption way of life. From there we celebrate the marketplace of ideas. But anti-genocide is non-negotiable. If you don't like it, you don't belong here. Get your dopamine elsewhere. Or read the lyrics at least and figure your shit out. We'll be here if you do. But right now there is very much an active genocide happening right now. That the US and all of our taxpayers are supporting whether they like it or not. MAGA isn't helping. The DNC is trying to minimize it's efforts in supporting Israel. And both are gaslighting hardcore kids and every other person who wants to march in the streets to call for a permanent ceasefire as somehow now "Hamas supporters". Fighting back is the very MEANING of hardcore. It's not a political party. It's a threat to the propaganda narrative that is used by our rulers to rule without consequence. We are here to question everything they do and say. Because it's all for their own benefit. You don't have to dress any special way. You don't have to like everyone or anyone. But you do need to understand the question you just asked. Which is hardcore 101. It's not just sound. It's sound AND fury. Built for this very moment in time. For this very reason. Because an endless sea of tiny coffins is NOT OK here. Not for us. Not ever.
