Don't know why, but the end title theme tune brings tears to my eyes.

I seem to recall that this more poignant end theme was used from time to time in later years when there was a sad and emotional end to an episode.

I understand what you are saying. The parts between 38 seconds and 1 minute and 5 seconds I find to be the most melancholic. I just think of all the time that has passed and the changes in between, good and bad. The only other music theme when played in full that has a similar lasting impression is for another soap opera Days of our Lives and even the title for that says it all.
