EveHenleySpread you're a life saver posting these videos. I look after my elderly mam who has COPD. These videos remind me of happier times. I worked as a carer for nearly 30 years and I worked shifts, so I didn't always see all of the Corrie episodes. Thanks for posting.

Once the extended honeymoon was over, the marriage was basically over for Vicky and Steve, wasn't it? He married her bank balance and she just wanted to 'win' him from Fiona. Once she'd won the man, Vicky seemed intent on molding and re-training him into ideal husband material but Steve had no intention of changing. I still think Vicky got what she deserved though, she was so mean towards Bet who had given her a home and tried her best to help her see Steve for what he was, only Vicky knew better! (Alec went about it the wrong way, however, which made Vicky more determined to follow her heart - straight into the criminal courts as Mrs. Steve MacDonald!)

@@EveHenleySpread That era really was great, but there have been some high points in the 90s', which is the period I know CS from. Back then I didn't see the Bet and Alec phase from the beginning, so I enjoyed watching that. Then it ended, and now Bet's gone too. I'm glad Jack and Vera remained, they've been stand out characters for a long time. I think making them owners of the Rovers was a mistake, but I've forgotten how that ends. In later years I remember Liz and Steve McDonald owning it, so she got it for a while in the end.

I must say i really like the Bill Webster character! Hes very jovial & aimiable despite his woes, very different from his mercurial son Kevin who always seems on a knife edge & shouts all the time! Little Sal has the patience of a saint to put up with him! Charles Lawson who plays Jim Macdonald is really good in his role of Jim, esp when in his cups! Hes very convincing as the big Irishman with many axes to grind & becomes an argumentative & belligerent drunk! I used to think, way back when, When Liz MacD was cheap & tarty but viewing now, realise what a very pretty woman she was! Despite her short skirts ( which in real life she hated & tried & tried to get the producers to moderate her dress sense to something more discreet) However she did have the figure & legs to show off, a very attractive woman all round. Plus ive heard her in many plays & productions & she has admirable talents. I still want a Maud Grimes for Christmas! I adore that feisty old lady! & she is such a mischievious & funny character! I recognise her real name, Elizabeth Bradley & wonder what other productions she was in, also if she was in any long running radio shows like the Archers or similar. Im sure she's been in BBC 4 Plays In the afternoon. Thank you EHS, your dedication & Hard work in bringing us these Corrie episodes, i dont think you really realise how grateful your viewers are, what happiness you have brought us, not just the British audience but world wide. Its such a tonic to re-see these Episodes, i missed many of them esp the " good years" by being abroad at the time so im so grateful to see missed Corries! Id even say your wonderful episodes are an antidote for the blues & depression! A HUGE Thank You Regards 🇬🇧👧

Why is Liz badgering Jim when she is the one who demanded he leave Baldwin to get her to go to the brewery? This sudden turn in their relationship is puzzling. I guess the writers thought they were too happy. Got to remember it is a drama and there has to be drama. 😀
@lynnem3300
@lynnem3300 7 ай бұрын
My thoughts exactly. Liz turns into a complete shrew almost immediately. Her badgering, bullying treatment of Jim is beyond irritating. And he was fired because of her own hysterical demands. This is clearly a sudden decision by the writers who repeatedly turn on a dime to meet their new plot directions.

The story of Jack and Vera getting the pub was very interesting and exciting. The breweries can pull the plug on a pub at any time. Jack and Vera had to cough up every penny they had and buy the business. This was a first on the show? The Rovers was previously managed by licencees? It’s an eye opener. We know Liz would have had no worries running the place but her big obstacle was Jim. Jack knew the biz. Unfortunately, Alec Gilroy was circling them like a shark when he realised they were not good book keepers.The reason why Jack and Vera resonated with audiences of all ages during their last decade was the family situation they established with Tyrone. They were unlucky with their own son and grandchildren but that’s down to well written characters and actual characterisations. The Duckies always managed to get up, brush themselves off and carry on. True northern spirit and charm. They were true battlers. Appreciated by an Aussie who is thoroughly enjoying the mid nineties. Thank you Eve 🙏

Poor Phyllis looks rather thin & peaky at the moment! You can tell shes lost alot of weight! Ive read from other commenters that i think she died in 1996 & wasnt even written out just ignored & forgotten about This is so indicative of the ever decreasing integrity of Corrie producers & writers No wonder Corrie went downhill & up the spout! Lol I cant understand why Corrie writers & producers didnt look back to the best years of the show when Bill Podmore was producer You cant help that old established & beloved characters left or died But with the right application of tried & trusted formula & handling of characters, Corrie could have kept its number 1 spot. They relied on more & more new characters & dreadful families The nasty family trend is what ruined Corrie! The lack of good meaning humour & the talents or lack of, of the bunch of actors who turned Corrie into a quagmire of despondancy! It just shows that these channels like Professional Gun, EHSpread & others are so popular bringing us the best of Corrie & how damn good the episodes were at that time. No one is keen to view the last decade, at least of, more recent Corries. Id like to compare the recent Corrie viewing stats against the episodes of 1970, 80, 90s of the same dateline, Eg view April 1979 to April 2009 & April 2022. Anyway thanks to EveHenleySpread! Lol 🇬🇧👧

Judy Mallett left in 1999 too -star in fat friends, yes it takes a year to film stuff hehe, and Catherine Hunt was written out of fat friends to star in Coronation Street as Angela Harris for a 3 year contract 😄. Nobody liked her character in Coronation Street so she was writen out after her contract, she was a brilliant actress just an unlikeable character/ Famaily, I liked Judy, Garry and her mum. But I didn't like Gaynor Faye in fat friends because her mom wrote it, and after season 1-2 all the characters left and it just became about her character.
