36.30 - Kate Bush ‘Running Up That Hill’ - absolute masterpiece of a track, playing in the background at the cafe. I miss the 80s.

I love the songs they sometimes have in the background in the cafe or in some character's house. I think it's Sonny and Cher playing in the cafe. Now Kate Bush (Stranger things track now!)
@TheGlassman63
@TheGlassman63 2 жыл бұрын
No, not quite. The song being played in the cafe is the 1985 cover version of "I Got You Babe" by UB40 which features Chrissie Hynde. This song topped the UK charts in 1985. Of course the Sonny & Cher original some 20 years earlier also topped the UK charts in 1965.

3:16:22 it's weird how when Dierdre, Ken, Brian or Gail is seeing someone else, there is a huge uproar about it, but Jack Duckworth seeing that woman he cleans windows for is played as just a bit of fun....
@zeddeka
@zeddeka 2 жыл бұрын
It's a bit of a re-run of the storyline that Stan Ogden had with the woman in Inkerman street when he was cleaning windows. They basically just copied and pasted a lot of the old Stan and Hilda type storylines onto Jack and Vera after Stan died. They wanted to make jack and Vera the replacement comedy couple in the street, replacing Stan and Hilda, so that's why they treated Jack's affair as a joke.

Terry was not the villainous character at all in his early years. A Jack the lad with money making schemes but that was all. Generally his heart was in the right place but the writers turned him into a total sociopath later on.
@SuzyQ334
@SuzyQ334 2 жыл бұрын
I agree. They did the same to Tracey Barlow. I don't think the scriptwriters/producers who came after these marvellous early years gave a stuff about continuity or believable storylines - hence the sensationalist rubbish Corrie turns out these days.

Yes, a Jack the lad with a heart. He was very sensitive towards Hilda, he wanted to look after his baby and he loved his mum, he probably even loved dodgy, idle Jack. Then he ended up selling his own son, going to prison, escaping and doing a load of other dreadful things. I remember a glimmer of old Terry when he went to the hospital to look at his mother through the window to her room following her kidney transplant to save her grandson.

Corrie obviously didn't have money to waste on stuntmen or effects in 1985, Jack's fall from the ladder is so unrealistic it is funny. He fell to the side from a 2 story ceiling height yet landed on his back with only a broken ankle? Fantasy. As seen so often on 24 hours in A&E etc, in reality he'd have broken his neck.

A breath of fresh air with the dreary Claytons gone, including their daughter doing her school exams in her mid-20s. In my opinion - Bette did that to herself!!! The Brewery gave her a chance “as a woman” and she proved how emotional and vulnerable “as a woman” she was! I don’t know what she expected to happen!? She was still basically “under probation”. Real shame as I really like her character.
@chicagogyrl4846
@chicagogyrl4846 Ай бұрын
I don’t know what kind of woman would be that “emotional and vulnerable “ to abandon her business, leaving only 1 bartender, and no other help, to run off with some man she barely knows, who obviously was a liar and a scamming user! I knew this man was just using her from the very first date! The other man she fired got another job at a pub, so why didn’t her fancy man get that job, instead of the other??! Runs off with a user and liar, then wonders why it didn’t work out! She jumps into bed with any man she can get her hands on, and is very unintelligent when it comes to men! And don’t worry, she won’t be losing the pub, because then they wouldn’t have a story line for Bette! 😂🤣

There is zero reason you can’t be home Derdrie, it is purely a choice on your part. For some reason you think being a cashier is more important than raising your own child. Sad since she hasn’t had the most stable situation as far as percents go. Too bad you can’t put your “passion” for checking people out when they buy cheese aside for your daughter. Understandable I guess, who would want to spend all the time possible with your child, ick…..strangers and your passion for running a cash register are obviously higher on the list of priorities 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

A filtered cigarette in a holder?!?! Ummm I think that’s not how they were intended to be used. They became a thing when there were no filtered cigarettes. It looks ridiculous having modern filtered cigarettes in a holder like that. If you are going to use it, use it the right way
