I can't believe the scriptwriters brought the vile, wooden Jenny back at all. Or that they turned Rita into a total wimp who gave her the time of day despite her nastiness. I loved Corrie to bits but by 1990 you could see the beginnings of some of the daft storylines that would lead to the rubbish that Corrie turned into in the Noughties. The bit with Don demanding Denise pay her loan back in full and her agreeing to do so with hardly a word in protest is quite ridiculous. Firstly, the loan would not be legal as Don wouldn't have bothered with official paperwork to make it legal. Secondly, he had a `verbal agreement` with her to make regular instalments, in other words he can't just make changes to that agreement just to suit him. And thirdly, Denise would have simply to told him to bog off, we had an agreement and she was going to stick with it.

Exactly, no legal agreement...it could be construed as a gift but the fact Denise repaid some payments back via check negated that. Don has records.

@marjoriejohnston3038 Жыл бұрын
I have to remind myself that the script writers want us to hate Jenny. In older archive episodes the characters were more nuanced , not black and white like these episodes. In reality Rita would have learned from past experience and not let Jenny get her foot in the door. The Joe and Sally story would have been nipped in the bud too because it was obvious and transparent and similar to the recent Carmel story. It would have been easy for Sally to put him in his place. I also think she would have told Kevin early on. I know it's only story lines but they've become manipulative and far fetched. Darker and more sinister. We have to be creeped out, as entertainment? Two caustic new barmaids in the Rovers? Where did the good times go?

I'd be utterly terrified if that awful Jenny was sitting in my lounge smiling at me (in between the latest foul temper tantrum that is) and asking to live in a house together

Deirdre was too friendly with Tracey, there wasn't that boundary of mother/daughter, that's why Tracey got away with murder. Well, she didn't in the end.

I thought Derek had redeemed himself after all these years with Sarah-Louise and the magic tree ~ but then, of course, he has to start complaining about it and turn something good into something crap, as usual. 🫠
