As a Falklands veteran, It saddens me that when they mention the death of col H they also mention other officers by name but then say "nine others" were killed, those 9 others also have names but it seems as though their names were not worth mentioning. Pure snobbery. disgusting.

I have to slightly take issue with Rick Jolly when he says everyone survived. Many were triaged and died in the field. The never made it to the field hospital.

@@mindyourownbusinessfattyI'm a military vet and I've studied this conflict in my personal reading and I read the magnificent short study called not mentioned in dispatches, and it is indeed an indictment of the poor leadership of Colonel Jones. Apparently by this Arthur's research and that of people he interviewed, Colonel h was merely a control freak and did not allow for the military abilities of his subordinates to be used.

@@decimated550well as a Falklands veteran, who was engaged clearing mines in a close location. I am friends with Barry Norman and Phil Cooper who were H Jones radio ops. They state he did nothing that was heroic.

Talk about trying to make yourself look like a brilliant tactician the bullshit from those high up is "unbelievable "commanding a lot of brave men no mention of them.

It was the section commanders that did the work, and as usual, the first casualty was the plan. I loved being a section commander, but as with life you must progress on.

Were the crew of the helicopter that CASEVAC’ed H Jones injured on his CASEVAC flight ?

My thought is if Lt Col Jones was dead, why would a helicopter dispatched to get his body, surely you would do that after the battle.

I have watched some very good interviews with other ranks who told the on the ground story. Much better. If you want to watch some very good and real battle facts watch the 225 episodes of fighting men of rhodesia / john van zyl.
