👍 May each person find their best way to start a fire with a ferro rod. Personally, 2cm at the tip of the ferro rod and a sharp edge are enough for me. I press the edge hardly with my thumb over the ferro rod and with a lot of pressure and speed. Although this produces fewer sparks, but they are really hot and glow longer and exactlier on the spot I want than normal wishy-washy sparks.

Take your sharpening stone to the back of your knife, it squares the edges and makes it better for ferro rod and for sanding down wood

I use the morakniv bushcraft knife. It has a very sharp squared spine. It's perfect and I would suggest it to anyone. Great idea though and I have knives that could use that for sure. Thanks for the tip.
