In this video, we’re going to talk about dealing with high cholesterol and LDL on keto.
Two organs in your body make cholesterol-your liver and your intestines. Bile salts control the majority of your cholesterol.
Excess cholesterol is eliminated through various pathways that involve bile. What this means is that bile gets rid of cholesterol, and cholesterol levels are dependent on bile.
Your intestines have receptors called bile acids receptors (BAR). BARs suppress cholesterol.
There’s a condition called essential hypercholesterolemia. This is when you have an excess amount of cholesterol in your bloodstream. “Essential” means that they don’t know what causes it. This includes familial hypercholesterolemia-this means it’s genetic.
A high-fat diet can cause hypercholesterolemia. Hypothyroidism, kidney damage, and bile deficiency can also cause this problem.
What causes a deficiency in bile? Liver damage is the primary factor. Fatty liver, liver inflammation (hepatitis), liver fibrosis, and cirrhosis can all cause a deficiency in bile. Anything that decreases liver function decreases bile production.
Intestinal damage can cause a bile deficiency. Numerous conditions and medications-including antibiotics-can contribute to poor intestinal health. In turn, this will increase your cholesterol.
Taking purified bile salts and probiotics can help improve your overall bile.

I prefer the old format as the highlights are already presented which makes it easier to understand. I have been on keto diet and IF since March 2022. My weight in March was 97 kilograms and as per today is 70 kilograms. I learned keto diet and IF from Dr. Berg's video. Thank you very much Dr. Berg for your great contribution. Nevertheless, I'm still struggling with my liver cancer Hopefully, with ketogenic diet and IF I could be recovered from the disease.

I tested for high cholesterol levels recently and the doctor said “you need to make healthier eating choices “ without even asking what I eat haha. I’ve been doing keto and IF (20-4) for almost 4 months now and have been in the best shape of my life! I eat 6 eggs a day with an Avocado, that’s probably why I have high cholesterol. I feel amazing though, so I’m going to keep my eating habits the same!

What is a normal day of eating for you? My husband is 37 he had a heart attack last yr and had to have quadruple heart bypass surgery pass all his arteries were blocked except one it was 10%open one wasn’t able to be repaired and he has high cholesterol from genetics he is on meds but it’s not enough
@jacinta2707
@jacinta2707 2 ай бұрын
@@As-fk1rb I did things Eric suggested in his videos; I changed my oils to avocado oil and started eating avocado more regularly, mostly every day in the warmer months and a few times a week when it's cold. I also changed to butter; more recently, I use grass-fed butter. I pretty much cut out all deep-fried food. I started eating salmon a couple of times a week, only 100g serve. All of the changes were small changes, just changing out one product of another. My doctor suggested eating Weet-Bix by Sanitarium and I selected the Cholesterol Lowering option. I used this for a few months; they say it has 2g plant sterols that can lower cholesterol within 4 weeks by up to 9%. I don't know how much that had on my results, as my cholesterol test was more than a year after using it. I have a good diet with a good mix of meat, vegetables and a little fruit. I make most of my food at home. I am usually a relaxed and happy person, which I think helps. Good luck with your husband recovery. The body is capable of amazing things; being full of wellbeing is it's natural state.

What I liked about this new format was that it was easier to see what was on the pad, AND that you were writing/drawing as you went along. When you use the whiteboard with everything written out already, it looks cluttered and the eyes immediately start reading everything, which distracts the viewer from what you are saying. When you use the pad, I am able to focus on one thing at a time. It is much cleaner than circling and drawing arrows on existing text. Breaking away periodically to show the function in the body is great for maintaining interest and clarification. I propose a marriage of the two: start with clean whiteboard or only a couple of diagrams and words, then write/draw as you go.

I always appreciate the time put into making these for free and it has helped me really understand keto and what is going on in my body but I will be more honest than most, I won't watch as many if this is the format now. I need the board, pausing to read all of it before you talk or I can't follow that quickly because I lose focus, I don't pay attention to a face (or just a voice.. can't do audible either I need to read the words in a book) I drifted off and read the comments during the first minute and before I knew it you were finished. I'm hoping it's a sign of high intelligence 😉😁

I like the format. I think over time, it connects well. People don’t like change though... It’s more intimate; more like sitting down at a meeting etc. maybe the cutaways to your writing can be done post ( where you can make them very clear and add some important detail) this might be a perfect blend of a more intimate connection, but also using time and space it takes to scribble out info to create clearer, more impactful written communication. Many times, I’ll take screenshots of the white board and later when I look at them, I feel like they are missing some of the great verbal details you suggest. Good job modifying things as usual. You are doing important work.

Super helpful!! This is a recent issue for me and appreciate the info. I appreciate the change, but do like the older format better. This format is personally fine for me if the info is minimal.

Dr. Berg, this format was very difficult for me to process. There was too much switching back and forth. I prefer your big board. Thank you for all the educational material.

I love this format, you explain everything so well. My dr visit was not scary at all but what she said was disappointing, she absolutely thinks the meds will do much better to lower my cholesterol, I've done it before with 2 visits to her office about my cholesterol the first time was a little high not bad she said, i refuse the meds and said i will take care of it at hm and be back in month. She agreed. The second time my levels were 👍 good, she said to keep doing what I'm doing to keep it down or level' what ever they call good, and all i did was mostly celery juicing and like I said before I'm not a big eat never was. I'm really trying to keep semi healthy in this crappy world of distributing food. But i do grow all my herbs and some veggies, we buy organic local meats my hubby's a meat eater so I do eat some. Thank you dr berg We really appreciate you so much. ❤️

The old format is brighter and more active. Your presentation is much better when you are standing in front of your digital whiteboard. Your handwriting is also better on the bigger board. Keep up the excellent work !
