When I rewatch Colbert with my family, we have the subtitles on for the sake of my dad, and it annoys me to see them off-centre, all-caps, poorly synchronised with when he speaks, and often having spelling mistakes. On Myers, they're always in the middle, capitalised like regular sentences, and include prompts like "[Imitating PERSON/CHARACTER]" or pronunciations to make it clear how a pun/play on words sounded (for those who _need_ the subtitles).
@sparkythancztwise8 ай бұрын
@@PerovNigma I'm mystified because I always use CC when it's available and I couldn't get it to work watching Seth on YT and asked about it in comments months ago. It wasn't long after that I noticed it became an option. Maybe it wasn't Corrections but the Closer Look segments where I couldn't get CC. I am not sure when I became aware of Corrections and began watching it (at least over a year ago), but have now gone back (finally) to watch every episode in order to see all the ones I missed. And clearly CC has been on here all along. That intrigues me. I've been using the same laptop and CC was not available when I tried to use it watching Seth for a long time.

However, doubling in this sense means "doing something again" so redoubling means "doing something again again" thereby meaning that it's the third time that a thing is being done, not the fourth. 🙂

Note that "you the audience are" isn't correct because of "audience," which is a singular noun; it's correct because of the *"you."* If you just said "the audience is" it would be fine, but you said "you, the audience" and "you" is in the second person and is an "are" as in "you are so beeping annoying"

To say “Why would I re-engage with this whole charade a second time?” as you do at 2:52 is to say that you have already re-engaged with it a first time..

Also, "The Dirty Dozen" is still a great title because it could be a subtle hint to the reader that the rooster was doomed to be caught from the start. Could be a nice layer of depth to play with, might inspire you to rewrite a scene or two to drop more foreshadowing or something IDK. I'm not an author so...

I live in Eastern Canada just north of the Maine border. All my life everyone I know calls these the Appala-CH- ian Mountains. I mean you don't call it a Kain saw - it's a chain saw. Or kids are told to CHEW their food, not Kew your food. Most of my ancestors came from England, Ireland and some from the Black Sea area. Most immigrated to New York, Boston, Quebec, Montreal and other parts of the eastern seaboard and still visit back and forth. And I will tell you that ALL of them pronounce this mountain chain with a CH sound, not a K sound. Sorry folks, perhaps the back woods people who, during the formative years of that neck of the woods all had a lisp or some sort of speech defect and caused them to all mispronounce the area where they lived. In fact I even worked in Toronto with a gent who did hiking in the Appalachian Mountains with the family and even HE said it the same way

Loss of a hat trick: Sanka need not be instant. Or at least, it used to be sold as beans or ground (97% caffeine free!). Instant coffee was a later development and I am fairly confident that brewed ground decaffeinated coffee is still sold in many locations. The orange handle on the carafe commonly used to distinguish decaffeinated from regular coffee in American restaurants, AA meetings and staff rooms owes its usage to Sanka. It is truly vile. The word is 'nictitating'. And a nictitating membrane in birds is most often semi-transparent, not translucent.
