Perhaps explaining some confusion for anyone reading this, it is also worth noting Andy Le (yes the guy shown, no not spelled lee) was indeed also involved in this film, as he plays the masked antagonist Death Dealer, contributing his own distinct style to his scenes. You can find him on KZbin at martialclub, where there’s a lot of behind the scenes footage and his own Kung fu shorts and fight scenes.

@@TheAdventuresofMightyThor not at all lol. Second place behind shang chi for sure, but go back rn and compare any two fight scenes from either movie. TWS made a lot of improvements over typical action sequences in previous Marvel and Hollywood movies, such as improved choreography and movement, and a more talented/experienced stunt team, but it also suffers from some of the biggest mistakes that dragged previous films down. Shots cutting before the impact of a hit, and then stitching into a shot after the hit has landed is one of the big ones. It causes strikes to lose a ton of force on camera because the actual impact is never shown or felt. If a shot didn't cut the impact out in TWS, then it suffered from shakey cam to hide the softer impacts of the choreography, resulting in very light hits. Shang chi, on the other hand, for many of the fight scenes at least, kept long shots for not just one, but multiple hit impacts AND kept a much more stabilized shot from the camera. The stunt team on this was so incredibly talented. The hits felt impactful and were usually strung together in comparatively long sequences between cuts, all while keeping the camera stabilized in motion. I think it was actually this Corridor channel themselves that did a breakdown of this exact thing a while back which i recommend, where they discussed why Hollywood (and they used Marvel shots as examples) suffered from usually less fluid and impactful martial arts action when compared to specifically Hong Kong action sequences. Definitely worth checking out.

Yeah I gotta say that this disappointed me. They should have renamed the video to just have "Good CGI". I personally thought (subjectively) that Shang Chi had a lot of trash CGI that totally took me out of the experience of the movie (not to mention the screen writing was quite lacking). Specifically the bamboo forest, and pretty much everything in Ta-Lo. My wife had to tell me to shut up since I kept complaining about it while we were watching it. Lol. I understand that budgets and time-frames can be tight, and there was a chunk of decent CGI in this, but man did a lot of it ring hollow and actually distract from the movie itself. I would have Corridor to do a reaction that doesn't involve the people working on the movie so that they can actually react to it in it's entirety. @@WhatsMikeUpTo Worse thing for me was the frequent obviousness of characters shot on green screen surrounded by CGI with lighting that didn't match and fake looking edges. The conversation in this video about the incredible work of artists making the edges perfect just falls flat when in so many shots it was awful. Amazing work in some shots and totally unconvincing work in others doesn't make for a great experience. You just get the feeling while watching that they had way too much work to do, even without covid restrictions. And yeah, simply no need for soulless CGI dragon fight at the end when the whole set up was about a dude and his dad. It should have stuck to that, and the emotion from the mother angle, which was decent. Draco ex machina was boring.

This is so awesome. I literally just created the rings from scratch in Blender. Mind you I'm no expert yet, but it was my first challenge to myself to recreate the ring, no tutorials, just trial and error until I came up with something really close. It's because of you guys that I've been so inspired and passionate about creating 3D content. I'll keep on practicing everyday, and every day I watch CC. Thanks for all the content especially all the tips and advice you guys give out in every video. So much appreciated.

It's super disingenuous. This is an absolute puff piece. Some of the CGI was good, but some of the CGI was a heavy contender for worst CGI in the entire world universe. How do you mess up that bad? The very opening car crash in the bamboo forest looked worse than anything in the entirety of Black Panther and they don't even give it a mention. I mean look how far into the movie this video starts. The bus scene? Nothing they wanted to discuss that happened prior to that?

They were most likely *paid* to film this episode by Disney or whatever PR company handles Disney. There's 0 chance of ANY negativity in that case, even if it's subjective or objective. Every other episode that clearly focuses on a specific film ALWAYS has some average cgi they talk about. But here? Nothing but it's amazing and so good.

@95088753 жыл бұрын
This is exactly accurate, it's a problem thats plagued the industry. I already work in previs and postvis and one of main points that need to become clear to people thinking of getting into this vfx/previs industry is that these films could be interesting to work on but most of the time the schedule isn't set by someone who knows how long it takes. So it's just stress and exhaustion for what should be a well scheduled production. Right now 2 separate unions are getting ready to strike because of these conditions.
@kainpwnsu3 жыл бұрын
Oh, I'm not bitter. I dedicated years on my life to learning my craft, creating a couple of businesses around it, teaching, tutoring, speaking at conferences and professional groups. I pulled way back about 6-7 years ago, to give my attention to my family. Occupying a senior position seems more relaxing, because learning there things is easier when you have experience and wisdom. But, a lot of leadership and personal responsibility comes with the job.
