Hey Everyone, thanks for all the feedback. To clarify - we always aim to get two videos out of our film sessions with guests. We just decided to released the sword focused one first, which is Luke’s field of expertise. Jessica is awesome and you will see more of her with Luke in an upcoming episode of Stuntmen React!

To everyone in the comment thread. They cut our video into 2 episodes. Jessica and I are very close friends and care and respect each other immensely. At no point did I interupt or cut off Jessica while she was speaking. Unfortunately the edit doesnt clearly show the banter between the three of us. I intended the whole episode to feature Jessica but we wanted to address some of the funny things from last sword episode. Next episode is about Jessica. Try to look at things in a positive light instead of negative. We had great time making the episode Jessica is an awesome talent and you guys will see tons of her in 2nd episode.

One thing I loved that they did in the ENTIRE movie - shields used as actual weapons with slams, parries and movement. Rather than just holding them static. You've got a great big hunk of wood, metal and leather on your arm - you can absolutely use it to pummel the SHIT out of some one with.

The thing about the swordfight in "The Princess Bride" is that, at a certain point, neither of them particularly want to kill the other one because they appreciate how good the other one is, and because apparently neither one has had a good swordfight in a while. A lot of the silliness in it is attributed to the fact that they're both enjoying the swordfight too much to actually want to kill the other one. Just another example of the power of good storytelling.
@ahmedamine24

Also, you know, the whole honour and respect they've shown each other up till then, Iñigo sharing his story and even letting the MiB hold his sword for a while, Iñigo clearly doesn't care aboutb Vizzin's plot, doesn't like the job. Likewise MiB doesn't want to kill these guys, just get the Princess. So, they're both just going through the motions.

This, this is what I was going to say. Even before Wesley reaches the top of the cliff to get to the fight, they're respectful, even almost friendly towards each other. It's more like play fighting, showing each other their capabilities. It's like the fight in Civil war. None of them really want to fight each other, the ones that know each other well anyway. Wanda is going for it more, because she's newer to the group, and other reasons, and Spider-man less, because he's just a well-meaning kid. When someone gets really hurt, everyone pauses. Wesley and Inigo aren't dueling to the death, they just want to accomplish their goal, Inigo by stopping Wesley from catching up, and Wesley wanting the opposite.

Troy’s fight scene is just such a joy to watch. It’s intense, well choreographed and has no shaky cam in sight. You see everything. Fun Facts about that Joh Wick 3 scene: The location in Morocco where they shot it was overrun with hundreds of stray cats, so attempting to keep the dogs focused on the actors instead of chasing cats, and wrangling the cats so they didn't get in the shots, was a whole mess. The director said they probably spent more on cat food and cages than they did on human catering.

My favourite thing in Troy was the treatment of Achilles’s fighting. Selective jumping (adding leg strength to arm strength via stored energy) so A’s striking power is extra formidable. The deliberate way he’s shown unleash a series of purposeful and deceptive moves is excellent. That kind of care to show the audience why he is who he is positively heartwarming!

What i like about the troy fight is that surprisingly its believable. Chances are the characters are historical but when the illiad has a habit of mention ing how many cm from right or left nipple x struck y, you know there is plenty of exageration. But in general, adorea has done a great service showing just how intense and complex, how enter training real fighting can be. Their knight of hope really put into persoective just how intense a plated knights presence was. In a way id prefer people go for realism because its realism that allows even complete amateurs to make believable and intense fights.

@@toh6261 I don't think you understand what the problem is. I wouldn't have any problem if there was a part 2 released within a week. They usually do record at least 2 episodes when there are guests - you can see that in stuntman/stuntmen reacts etc. But for now it is only part 1. And we only know it is part 1, because they say so in the comments. No mention of it in the video. Only when they got backlash for inviting 2 guests that specialize in 2 different types of stunts, but only talked about 1 (they teased the other - I know) they said - "oh don't worry, we didn't invite her to be eye candy - she has her own episode". It's at least a screw up on the person who green-lit the final edit on YT. Because that looks like one of the stunt people were there just to say couple of words. Again - I would be okay with that if there was a part 2 soon. But it's been a month. And frankly I'm starting to doubt whether it will ever be released. Or exists. Also you say: "I know. I sword fighting choreographer talking about swords in a video entirely about sword fighting choreography. How weird is that? We need more representation." - you do realize that if they wanted to make a video about sword fights - they don't need Jessica there? It looks like they were trying to do both at the same time and ended up with footage that someone decided to cut into 2 "specialties". And during editing and green-lighting the project no-one noticed it's freaking awkward. When they noticed backlash, they should have immediately released part 2. The question is whether they have the edit that looks fair to Jessica.

yup, this is primarily a bragging fight, they are traing to impress each other. Nothing else. They both have multiple chances to kill the other inside the first 30sec, but they don´t. Much like the famous fight scene at the end of the first Episode of the Witchers, which was basically "suicide by cop": Geralt is absolutely trying to avoid to having to kill Renfri, he is flexing like hell, showing "I am so much better than all of you combined, what´s the point? I even really like you., I want you to have a life. Just go.", while Renfri, clearly disadvantaged, doesn´t let go, and is more or less forcing his hand to kill her, she wants to not live anymore, and she wants him to feel guilty for not helping her. So what Geralt does pretty much until Renfri jumps into his dagger is what these two aredoing here: "Look at me! Look how I can fight! Ha! Look! Look!"

I'm almost certain about Duelist as well - it's kind of "small movie" from 77 - so I doubt they even thought about using stuntmen. Just experts to teach the actors and tons of great choreography. And in all fairness - you probably never heard of Deluge - since it's not a Hollywood/British movie. And old foreign language movies get very little exposure to US/Western public.

So hear me out: The scene in Princess Bride is not a swordfight, it's a conversation. The words are being exchanged through actions instead of verbally. These two people are just getting to know each other, and at no point are you actually worried one of them is going to get hurt, because neither is really interested in hurting the other. Instead they learn about each other, and exit the scene as friends (even if one is slightly knocked out). For the audience, it also functions as a character introduction, as you haven't really come to learn much about either of these two up until this point. This is why the fact that the swordfighting itself is nonsensical is completely ok, because there's no actual fight happening in the first place. The scene is an absolute masterstroke

The Hector vs Achilles fight is still one of the gold standards for Hollywood sword fights and fight-storytelling. Your expert nailed it. Their motivations are crystal clear, their personalities impact they physical way in which they move - in an overall "okay" movie, this is a great moment. And I love how Achilles isn't made out to be totally OP and they didn't play up the demigod thing, they just made him a supreme athletic warrior. Simply better than everyone else, but not because of magic. Him against regular soldiers is like Michael Jordan vs street pickup players. And him vs Hector is like Michael Jordan against other NBA champions - Jordan is still better than all his contemporaries.

We had a group of people who performed a martial arts form with (I think) the decorative style of sword on live television (the type of sword that's more flexible, but still) and wanted to take a picture for local television of someone with such a sword very close to the camera during the rehearsels and I wanted the pose to look realistic because of a quick, strong move that they just ended making. I watched the person I asked if she would feel comfortable with that (which she was) 10-15 times and then marked my position on the floor and had her perform the move and when with a loud vocal outburst she ended the move I took the picture all while sweating my ass off. Even though she mentioned it was not a sword able to actively injure people I still very much got the feeling I needed to watch out, the intimidating nature of the martial arts style she performed really hit home :P.

@agentkirb
@agentkirb 8 ай бұрын
@@vanerek I suppose it would be nice if there was an easy way for them to communicate something like this to us, but even still. I sort of just assumed it was some weird reason why (like an NDA or some weird technical glitch where they lost Jessicas mic for part of the recording), so it wasn’t necessarily worth going into detail why the episode wound up not happening. Part of the reason why I’m kind of “facepalmy” about people seeming to be upset there isn’t a part 2 for this is: what do people think happened where they supposedly wouldn’t want to show part 2? Do they think Nico just dropped a bunch of racial slurs and it upset Jessica/Luc and they left midway through? I feel like if something like that happened, they could’ve lied and come up with a plausible reason (like there being a mic issue or losing the recording or whatever). TLDR: It just doesn’t make sense for people to be upset there isn’t a part 2.
