The announcers are always complicit too. When Seattle center went up, she knew she would make contact. If you collide in the air, it doesn't matter if you get a hand on the ball, a foul isn't only contact on your arms, it is also the body. And when they aren't in the air, the announcers will call a foul "physicality". The announcers cover for the terrible refereeing.

Yes, it was just too obvious. ESPN was conspicuous as well in their deliberate avoidance of these flagrant unsafe patterns throughout the season. It's targeting a player.

Yes, officiating needs to be based on merit. Easy to train, mitigate and alleviate unsafe play. They need to be incentivized.

This is no different from how they call bs in men's sports because they are tasked to do so. Nothing will happen to them because they are doing what they are told to do. In an HONORABLE game with HONORABLE ref's, that kind of personal foul would have gotten a player ejected from the game and perhaps even the league - but this is "entertainment" so...

And it wasn't only Caitlin who was targeted . The refs also took Aliyah Boston out of the play by calling multiple fouls against Boston and having her benched . I can no longer guess who is getting fouled and for what reason.

Stopped watching the NBA because of horrible officials. Also stopped buying NBA merchandise too.. I'll not watch those teams with professional athletes who can't control themselves. Real basketball is beautiful and powerful. If CC is not in the game, I'm not interested. At least her yeam is playing real basketball, and it's glorious.

After a few games it was obvious that they were being paid for not calling fouls against other teams and especially Catlin Clark, not one, but all of the referee's, but did call them against Catlin. The complaint to the commissionors, but they are pretending not to be aware., So they already a part of it also. Money is was in many hands. The ownerships out of fear were all involved.

What Carter did to Clark would have brought an ejection in the NBA. Problem was that was just the beginning for Clark. Physical play is one thing but Targeting is a call immediate disipline. The WNBA officials used this past are a poor excuse for reffing games and should all be replaced because of it or at least fined severely. The eye poke by DC should have her banned from the league, there is no room for that in this or any sport.

Every one of the 2024 WNBA refs need to be, should be and deserve to be fined and fired for their OBVIOUS and FLAGRANT disregard not only for Clark’s safety and wellbeing but for disregarding the rules of basketball, fair play, and sportsmanship! Refs, umps and any person officiating sports contests especially at the pro level should be absolutely required to adhere to the rules of the game or contest, fair play and sportsmanship! In this case it’s basketball. How can anyone trust 2024’s WNBA refs to officiate a game properly?? IMO they are contemptible and corrupt and are bringing down the league along with the jealous hater players that Clark used all season and the silent higher echelon of the WNBA itself!!

There is no way the eye gauge looks accidental. Watch that player's history of the same play situation. Watch any player's body and hand movements. Watch her eyes focus on her fingers as she guides them into the eye socket. No one attempts to contest a shot in that manner. Try to find some replays that do. Make comparisons. These are players and teams with an agenda to antagonize, inflict unsafe contact. Much more...

About the only recourse left is to press charges, get police involved, and assault and battery charges should be brought against players that are obviously trying to injure CC in some cases severely enough to end her career!

This is the difference between male and female sports, Males would of supported their teammate and a brawl would of ensued. Watching all these fouls and what not and some of her games, I've notice none of Caitlin Clark's teammates ever have her back. Not a single time did one of her teammates get ejected or a foul called on them for sticking up for her.

Coach White: Sign a rugby player that has played basketball at a high level in college or sign a basketball player that has played rugby at a high level. Remember Wayne Gretzky (NHL), Tom Brady (NFL), were protected by the league because FANS pay to see stars perform. Both leagues wrote rules that protected box office marquis athletes that drove up the profit margin. They also paid enforcers and offensive lineman more money to protect the fan draw of the extraordinary talents.
