I can’t help noticing how much electricty today’s higher end PC components are using particularly GPUs and now this cooler. You will see how energy prices are currently going up. From a cost and environment perspectives using 500+ Watts can’t be good. Some PCs are now using the equivalent electricity consumption of electric heaters. In good news much of this electricty now comes from renewables but the cost aspect remains. Perhaps time to highlight some PC specifications that consume low amounts of electricty but can still get the job done?

I guess that's kind of humanity's collective fault for wanting more. Honestly, consumers were kind of ok that Intel pinned everyone down with 4 cores/8 threads until Ryzen showed up. Now everyone calls Intel on their bullshit, but is 4 cores/8 threads really that bad? I work an office job, most of it involving Excel. I honestly believe that Windows 10 and the current iteration of Excel is the point where a Core i5 4960 (with 8gb of DDR3 1600 Mhz RAM and a mechanical hard drive) shows its age. I do think there's still a bit of performance to be had if this machine has an SSD. Maybe two more threads. Even maybe 16GB of RAM. I personally own an ancient FX 6100 with a GT 1030 and a mere 4GBs of DDR3 1333Mhz RAM in dual channel mode. (I'm poor). But paired with SATA SSDs and a 4:3 monitor at 1280*1024, I can still enjoy Control and World War Z but in a lower resolution. I am expecting a bit better situation for myself financially this year, but I since I mostly play DOTA2, this machine will serve me just fine (but the heat it crazy nuts for something not too much of an upgrade from a dual core Athlon). We'll see if upping the RAM to 16GBs would make this snappier but I have my doubts.

Agreed. However, change is on the horizon: given how successful Apple's M1 chip is, I expect both Intel and AMD to come up with similar designs and see the industry switch from x86-64 to ARM - at least, in the not-too-distant future.
@zodiacfml

Intel is using 2015 process node for this i9-11900k but chips are truly more efficient these days, proof is in laptops close to desktop performance despite fraction of the power. The problem is these companies now doing the overclocking themselves, little headroom left for the user unlike the days of early overclocking. Aside from that, they also add plenty of voltage than necessary. I recall undervolting my Athlon XP where a few voltage drops will cause instability but undervolting modern CPUs/GPUs will give slightly more performance while consuming significantly less power.

I previously used a H110i GTX but I've since then upgraded to a custom open loop with a 45mm thick 280mm radiator and a 45mm thick 120mm radiator, both from Alphacool. Its cooling my Ryzen 7 2700X and Vega FE. My rig stays cool and extremely quiet with Arctic P12 and P14 fans. They rarely go over 50~60% in speed and everything stays sub 60C under load. I still have the H110i GTX, I use it on my test bench because its still a really good cooler despite being around 5 years old.

Woohoo, i`m first on this one....early bird catches the worm. Triple 140 mm cooler ....??? ....The first thing in my mind, is what cases it would fit, and it does match a hot runner CPU....What i would like to see from cooling manufacturers, is 2 things : 1 - a Port so that you can add a GPU block to the loop. 2 - a thicker radiator. Also, case manufacturers standardising their naming conventions, so that when shopping, you can easily identify what cooling it is compatable with.

It's really awesome (and kinda ironic maybe? ) that this thing can fit into my Phanteks enthoo pro TG (which is practically enthoo pro, from 2014, but came out as a new, TG version, in 2017 I think). It can fit on the top of the case, not in front which can be used for a 280 radiator max (or 360 if you remove 5.25 bays and do some modding). I am using a Corsair H150i Pro RGB (the only RGB about it is the block's logo and its perimeter). 3 years on an i7-8700K , applied new thermal paste last year, but it wasn't really necessary. It's just perfect, keeping the CPU at 4.8Ghz (all cores , 24/7 for almost 30 months now) cool. I will only change it , if it's broken! It's absolutely phenomenal, and iCue is getting better (at first it was not that good, but the updates made it become stable and bug-free)

I changed the stock Ryzen 2700x cooler for a friend of mine with the H115i 280mm Cappleix AIO. While the performance and the aesthetics we're awesome, the mounting procedure was such a pain. Ignoring the amount of cables, it seemed that the screw holes were drilled but not threaded or something. It took all my force to make a quarter of rotation before the screw river was flying off. And this was for each screw, took me hours. And to make it worse when I looked inside it seems that the screws were actually drilling the fins of the radiator, which got me worried but I heared from someone not to worry as water is not circulating in the most outer part of the radiator where the screws go in....not sure if it was just a manufacturer defect for a specific batch or just bad design, but still, a not so good experience for the person who builds the machine.

i bought the fractal torrent case to replace my Phanteks P600S and now im trying to selling the Torrent ,1st its a bit more wide and definetly its pointelss to use Torrent wiht AIO in the front the main reason is because its missing a top fans and when you have intake from bottom and front there is a hot spot created in the top corner of the GPU and you can feel it wiht your hand the hot air struggle to escape there ,and my GPU temps rise wiht 4 degrees with torrent from 58 to 62 ,cpu is cool thats normal as is mounting in the front ,i wanted to keep just because i want to keep my tubes of the radiator down it fits perfect but there is the other problem ,down you cant use 3x140mm wiht 420mm aio ,you can put 2x180 but without a bracket because hit the cables at the bottom of the motherboard when you try to slide it in , but the problem is that if you want the tubes down you need to remove the second 180mm fan from there because they cant fit together atleast no with push pull configuration like i did maybe wiht just pull yes didnt try ,anyway if i had to remove 1 bottom fan jsut to put 420mm aio in the front its already a bad call ,too much hussle ,this case is made for aio coolers so you can have some exhaust the hot are in this area above the GPU ,now whit my Phanteks p600S i fit the 420 aio in the front pipes up (zero problems ) push pull is just fit nice and tidy my gpu temps are 57-58 and cpu 27 on idle and around 50 during game , i bought arctic liquild freezer 420 aio came from nzxt z63 and wow the diference is a night and day ,remove this cam bulshit and zero spikes anymore from 32-- 45 all the time ,right now is stady 28 plug and play hope this help somebody want to try same builds .

Also the Phanteks Enthoo Pro and Pro 2 both support 420mm rads. I have the rad from my Esibear cooling my 6800XT.

personally i got a corsair H150i in main PC 5800X+ 2080Ti (just resently swapeed that from a 8700k@5ghz) , in backup PC Ryzen 1700 + GTX 970 thats on full hardline custom waterloop , my org plan was to put the 8700k in that , but it was a bit overkill for a media server / backup PC so i sold that onand kept the ryzen 1700 , to much of a ball ache to drain ect (even thought i got EKWB Evo waterblock sat here for Intel the I7 , used it last time on a 6700K CPU , but it still good enuff)

I like Corsair stuff and have a 280mm aio but would rather go the custom loop route if we start getting to needing a bigger case and if we're spending more money might as well go all the way and not just pivot off a 420mm aio. :D

Tech YES City, looking at replacing my i7 4770 with a Quadro k2000 system that is used for my home security cameras which pretty much is running at 100%. Looking at running a Ryzen 5 5600G or 7 5700G using a mATX form factor, not sure if I should run an AIO or just a fan. The system will be in a cupboard and will have 1 camera @ 1440 and 3 @ 1080. Do you think this system will cope and what case do you recommend? BTW I am in Victoria so doesn't get as hot as it does for you in Queensland, but still do get the odd 40+C days.

depending at the airflow in the case used, the 5600 will do just fine with the cooler that comes in the box mos matx cases i have use will fit 2 120mm fans in the front so there is always airflow for everything those are my two cents

Is the Noctua DH 15 still worth using in these newer cpus ? I know its air cooling but it keeps my 9900k ice cold. Not sure if this is the case with the newer cpus.

I just scooped this up the other day. I have a X299 mobo and 7980XE that I'm going to de-lid and do direct die cooling on. Considering how hot that chip gets, I'm really curios how well this AIO will hold up and how much overclocking headroom it will give me with those 18 cores. I'll also set up a push/pull config for the fans for the extra cooling.

Haha the next video will be perfect for you then! I am putting this on my 10980 xe, and it will answer your question (I need a delid too tbh, though be VERY careful on the 7980xe as there is only one direction to delid it in out of 4).

@@techyescity I opted out for DeBauer's kit so it's pretty much fool proof (i hope). I have his deliding tool and the mounting bracket. I got this 7980XE dirt cheap not knowing if it it even worked (from China) and it works great. I want to put it up against my 5950X once I get all this done. Looking forward to your review! Keep up the great work. Love your channel!

@@LawrenceTimme Yup and that summabitch can pull up to 500 watts. I'll have no IHS so going to direct die cool it. Really curious how this thing holds up. Plus I don't care about noise and I run my fans on full speed. I use my computers as air purifiers

try a BIOS update you shouldn't be pulling that much wattage for the CPU , i did on my I7 11700k and seen it drop considerably in wattage use and run at higher frequencies using a Asrock Z490 !!!!
