A couple things: 1) Thank you for saying they are not proprietary, that is one of my triggers. I even made a video to explain these connectors were used on CD-ROM drives: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eoDNZZ6Pjdutr6s 2) PirateDogTech does make adapters, though in case of of the Commander Core, it is most likely setup like the RGB Hub in terms of the wiring. You have only one logical RGB port and the 4pin RGB cable of Corsair's passes the RGB data out to the next fan. In theory you can only have one a 4pin to a 3pin ARGB adapter, after that it wouldn't work as most other RGB devices don't have data out. Great review!

No matter how I wire it or which ports I use, my "lighting setup" tab only shows "LED port #2" with both fans wired correctly to the unit. It powers both fans but will only power one fan's RGB at a time and it has been very frustrating as the Core unit is a new product

For anyone who wants to hear a normal customer review: My rooms about 20c ambient and under full load Quiet curve was 63c Balanced was 61c Extreme was 57c Custom curve I made in icue was barely audible and 59c Yes you can use different fans. Any corsair will work, DC fans will run full speed 24/7. I currently have lian li unifans on mine and pwm works perfectly. The commander core does NOT have the usb ports like the commander pro. For lian li unifans I would suggest using lian lis provided hub for JUST the rgb. Plug the 4 pin fan connectors into the commander core. That way you get lian lis rgb software and icues curve creator. A lot of people have complained about pump noise. I can confirm when I first started my pc up after installing there was a high pitch hum. Its one of those sounds that is hard to notice but once you do it's game over and you can't stop hearing. I let my computer run all day and it went away on its own. Been fine for weeks now sooo🤷‍♂️ Don't really know what else to say but hope this helps some people.

Hi! I Just ordered the components for my new build and I ordered this AIO cooler and a set of three unifans al120. May I ask you how can I connect both?

@@enzobenzo. Unifans come with a fan hub and the AIO comes with one as well. To get the best of both worlds, (lian li's rgb software and corsairs fan control), i suggest that you plug the RGB cable from the fans into the provided LIAN LI hub BUT plug the fan 4 pin power cable into the provided CORSAIR hub. The only issue with this is that you may not have enough USB headers on your motherboard to power both hubs (need 2). If that's the case you can purchase the Corsair Commander Pro. The Pro version of corsairs fan hub provides 2 usb headers (ON THE HUB ITSELF). If you buy the Commander Pro then you can simply plug the usb cable from the lian li hub into it along with the fan 4 pin. Then only the Commander Pro usb needs to be connected to the motherboard saving you 1 usb header. Sorry if this is incoherent lol.

@@evan7576 ok so I've to connect both fan HUB apart. I ordered an Asus tuf gaming z690 plus d4 and on motherboard website it says there are 2 USB 2.0 ports on the front . Just connect both hub in USB and Power them with SATA. The pwm fan cables Need to go in Commander core and the RGB cables in Lian li provided hub. Am I correct?

@@enzobenzo. Yes that's correct. Unfortunately though, you said your motherboard only has 2 USB headers and you'll likely need to use at least one of those for your pc case. This is where the commander pro would need to be bought or a USB splitter.

I just have one more question (I swear). The Commander core can Power up only 6 fans and in my case I can install up to 7 120mm fans. The unifans can chain-connect but I don't know if a single pwm works with another hub and not the Lian li One. Do you have any tips? How many Lian Li fans do you have? Thanks.

Yeah their software for their devices is pretty bad. They have no way to create profiles for several Corsair devices. Like I have their keyboard, mouse, ram and head set. All have RGB and they just seem to get confused because there is no way to create profiles for all of them and save it. Kinda trash.

Im using this on my i9-9900K at 5 GHz OC and am getting 38-41C across all 8 cores. Ambient temp is 24C air-con. When gaming I have to set all the AIO fans at Extreme with max temps reaching 86C. When I was using the vanilla H150 it actually hit 96C. The temp of the CPU (at iCue screen) is at 33C but the core temps are closer between 38C and 41C I would think the latter is more accurate. I thought getting the highest AIO model would give me the best temps but I never could see the core temps go below 35C.

I love this AIO. I got the 360mm in white. I did replace the fans with Lian Li unifans to go with the rest of my setup. I all goes together quite well and looks beautiful. The only thing I dislike is that I have to use the commander pro, even though I don't need fans plugged into it. Other than that, It's quite clean in the back.

It's has always been weird to me that people worry about noise. I always put all my fans at 100% no matter what. I don't know why people game with their PC next to their ears. Noise should be the last thing anyone should be worrying about. especially when over clocking. Most quality fans now a days do a pretty good job at noise level.

The installtion of the icue commander wasnt as easy as some would think. Plus the pump not being connected to the mobo makes it so you HAVE to use the icue commander. Plus mine did not come with the temp connectors. If this is your first time building a pc with an aio theres lots of room for error. You are slaved to corsairs icue program which if the software is faulty then it will be impossible to ensure your pump wont work right.

I think you can by setting up the fans to QL type. Install the QL as fan no 1-3 and the ML as fan no 4-6. However for certain effects might look a bit weird as the LED count is different between QL and this "new" ML fans.

You sure can. ML is the same as the SP but make sure the mode is set to QL for its lighting. I have this for my temporary SP’s while 3 of my QL’s went for RMA along with the Node Core that broke.

At the 6:45 mark of this video on the "lighting setup" tab, my unit only recognizes "LED port#2" even though I have fans connected CORRECTLY in port 1 and 2. It powers the fan up but will only display RGB for one fan at a time. I've tried re-wiring, and tried all ports, and have the latest iCUE updates and firmware. No matter what I do, it only recognizes one fan at a time.

I know this video is old but you have the same complaint that many others do, being that the Commander Core isn't magnetic. A simple fix is to buy adhesive magnetic strip and adhere it to the device. Very very cheap stuff

The commander core, no. It only has slots for fan power and the rgb hub. It does not have expansion ports like the pro to plug a lighting node into.

This will work fine, it's an Asetek unit and is as reliable as any other good AIO. I have a 3950x and use a custom loop but a 360 radiator will be fine. If anything, swap out the stock fans as NZXT fans are known to be loud.

@@redonion5980 I am not 100% sure but yes it will work, you should be able to control the PWM (fan speed) of both "type" of fans on Commander Core. But for lighting it’s a different story, it will work if you connect both fan types to the Commander Core but some moving effects may not look good, I think that’s because iCue will consider that have all have 4 LEDs or 8 LEDs (it will choose the max or the min can’t remember) but for static color it should be just fine. What I know and has been confirmed by their support is that an update will come out in January 2021, and it may get delayed depending if they have other projects to work on. And other solution is to connect everything to the Commander Core and if you buy ML120 PRO RGB triple pack it should come with a Lighting Node Core and Lighting Node Pro and if you connect the ML120 PRO RGB header to the Node Core and that to the Node Pro and that to motherboard : iCue should be able to make a difference between the 4 LEDs ones and the 8 LEDs ones and effects should be working fine. (Corsair definitely needs to fix their sh*t with iCue). But if you need more info you can contact Corsair’s support, they tend to be useful.

Yes this pump makes a high pitched noise thats hard to notice but once you do you can't stop hearing. I noticed it immediately after first start up but I let it run for a day and it just stopped. Been fine for a few weeks now. 🤷‍♂️

@@LFiers Oh nice. I love the look of that Lian Li case. At first, it was pretty load but I adjusted the fan speeds on the iCUE software to spin faster as the CPU heats up. Since my CPU is pretty cool, the fans typically spin around 20-30 percent and are very quiet. When gaming, my temps go to about 50-60c and the fans spin at around 60 percent and are noticeable but not bothersome. I think it’s worth it.

Thanks for this video I'm really considering this model because of the reviews but I have a question. My PC is primarily for work, I personally don't care AT ALL about RGB or even noise to be honest because I have some powerful fans in my case so I yea I'd want something tolerable but at the same time CPU TEMP CONTROL is my PRIOIRTY. My question is: Is there any model you would recommend for PRICE/Performance value without all the extra glam like RGB and software control? I am already using MSI command center to control fan speeds and such so I can even do without software. If I can save money and go minimal it's better for me. Thank you!

The firmware updates are very iffy. Software sometimes fails and requires reboot to reset. I have had a firmware update for 2 months now and it will not install. The unit is ok for someone who is familiar with working on computers, I would not suggest it for anyone else. I built my new machine at the end of last year and installed this... so I have been running it for some time. I have learned to wait awhile on updates and check online for issues before installing. This will keep you from installing a update that is faulty.

I'm new to this: If I'm going to buy a Corsair aio do I go h100 RGB platinum and separate commander pro or elite cappellix with included commander core to go with some ll120 Corsair fans?

That’s how I did mine.🤷🏼‍♂️ I just have it on start up but not to launch the actual app. It always goes to the setting I have it at.

I have 4 QL 140 fans and the iCUE H150i Elite Capellix. How would you connect this? I am not sure how to as i wonder what to do with the 7th fan.... 3 for the aio and 4 QL140's. What is your idea on this. Thanks for your help.

To compare 360 AIO's against a Noctua NH-U12A is a bit disingenuous. At this level of hardware, especially a 2066 system, a NH-D15 would be a more fair comparison.
