The only complaint I have about the HS80s is that the earcup fabric Will inevitably start to pull away off of the ear cups, so just be aware of that. They will most likely need repaired or replaced because of it. Aside from that, literally the best $100 range headset I've ever owned, with the best mic by far, and I've gladly bought two so far. I was excited about the HS65 Surround... And then I noticed it was open back. I like headsets that block out background noise. The open back headsets tend to let too much outside noise in. With a closed back headset you can play games while there's someone else in the room watching TV, etc. With the open back you usually can't do that because, not only will you hear the TV, but sometimes the other person will even hear your audio coming through the back of your headset.

When considering the HS65, be aware that the headband is prone to cracking in the middle. I only had mine for three months before it cracked, and now, a year later, it's completely broken in two and held together with duct tape. I'm thinking about upgrading to the HS80, but I’ve heard from others that it can feel tight for those with slightly larger heads. I hope the HS80 has more durable plastics and doesn’t experience the same issues.

Looks great overall but I would maybe suggest 2 things. 1. Make it into a detachable cable incase there would be a problem with the cable in the future 2. Make the earpads of the hs80 a possible separate product that would fit the hs50 and 60 lineup since some might like the lower versions more but would want the pads of the premium version. Overall, goodjob corsair!

Sounds a bit robotic. The H65 and H80 mics sound amazing! BTW - Amazon currently has a coupon code (may require Prime but don't think so) in the US site for $20 off the H65; $59.99 + tax.

A good directional microphone can sound fine. Sound processing on the other hand does tend to degrade the sound quality, especially when using older and simpler algorithms. Some of the newer developments are however miles better than what was available just a few years ago. Krisp as implemented by Discord is pretty light weight, doesn't have any HW lock-in, does a pretty good job of eliminating key clicks and most noise from the surrounding while leaving the voice recognizable if still definitely processed. But if it's noisy enough it can be worth it. Nvidia Broadcast is objectively better than Krisp, but is tied to Nvidia hardware and still adds some of that robotic quality that you talk about. The good thing here is that it's possible to choose if you want to or have to use noise suppression instead of the microphone sounding crap from the beginning.

Hey, just wanted to drop some info here as a buyer of an HS65 White. I've had this headset for about 7-8 months, and I have a bit bigger head I guess than some. If you've seen enough reviews online about the HS65 you will hear some people address that the headband's plastic will start to crack in the middle over time. I took a bit of a gamble seeing if it was as bad as people made it out to be and unfortunately, it is. The headband cracked within 4 months of having the headset. Keep in mind I'm not absurdly hard on my perifrials, I try to take good care of my things. Anyway, the headset band is just a bit narrower than lots of other headsets I've tried and it seems to put an abnormal amount of strain on the top plastic making it almost pinch downward in the middle. I'm 4 months down the line of the first part cracking and it's gotten a bit worse to the point I'm thinking I'm going to be buying another headset soon. Just thought I'd share that important piece of info some people might find useful. One great thing about the headset though is an amazing microphone. Just like he describes this headset sounds so good with its mic quality. I'm assuming It has something to do with Corsair owning Elgato and having that microphone tech. Anyway, the headset is very comfortable despite me having a larger head. The fit and finish of the headset is super nice. The soft-touch plastic around is sensitive to marks and scuffs, but if you get a black one I can imagine a lot more of that is hidden compared to the white one, so just keep that in mind if you want a white one. Another plus is the USB dongle that comes with the headset. You can actually connect any standard 3.5mm headphones into it and use the IQUE software to eq them which I found cool. The cable itself like they said as well is very nice, though it does have weird kinks in it due to the way it's wrapped to send out and I've noticed it doesn't like to 100% unkink. Again it's been 8 months of owning this so thought I'd address that. Now to the sound, simply put it's great. Out of the box, it sounds (for my liking) a bit too much in the highs and mids, but with the software, I can bring the perfect amount of bass back into the sounds and pull a little from the highs to get a great crisp sound. Also the built in SoundID Personolization is very good and can get you a great sound signature for an automated process. I use these headphones for gaming, streaming, music, KZbin, movies, etc... kind of everything and they sound very nice all throughout. The most you might have to do is if you listen to metal and rap like I do, I find I need to go in a adjust the EQ quickly to make the most out of the headset sound. (since you can create custom profiles it isn't much of an issue once you do it once since you just have to click on one of them). Ultimately I got these on sale for about $45 and I can't complain much at all. Considering the price these were a steal and honestly, I'd love to buy them again if the headband was just a bit better and I could trust that it wouldn't break again in the future. Now with that being said I'm thinking about getting the HS80 USB which would seem to mitigate that gripe for the headset and I think that will be the best affordable headset on the market in my opinion. Hope anyone reading this found something useful I 100% recommend these if you are certain your head isn't much larger than the average person's.

Seems like all budget headsets have pleather earcups which instantly kills me even considering them as an option. What I wouldn't give for $40 headphones that prioritize comfort, it's all I want. But if I want comfort I always have to go to the $100 category which blows because most headphones die after 18 months of use for me despite how much I pay.

@DEEJ these headphones are not intended for busy environments, so the microphone picks up everything around you. I had a problem with the size of the headphones and they did not suit me at all due to the comfort of the ear pads. ear pads are very small and the material is not pleasant at all. I recommend 100% leather ear pads. If you are looking for gaming headphones buy something from hyperx and don't look at the reviews because they will probably tell you that they have bad sound. If you want something of quality, buy something from audio technica. But if you are looking for headphones purely for gaming without dealing with software and settings, buy the hyperx or shennheiser which are praised rightfully. But cheap all-in-one headsets are hyperx for me mainly because of the comfort. I wouldn't bother with the microphone at all because it will be at the same level everywhere and HyperX doesn't have an extra good one but it's enough to chat with friends on discord without sounding like a robot. If you want a good headset with a microphone, I know of only one audio technica that is comfortable leather gaming headsets in the more expensive category. Don't rely too much on the reviews. HyperX has deserved popularity.

Great video! Which wired headset would you recommend for predominantly PC (and XBox very rarely so not a deal breaker) at the below Australian prices right now: (a) EPOS H6PRO at $186AUD; or (b) Razer BlackShark V2 at $89AUD (the V2 X version at $67AUD); or (c) Corsair HS80 RGB USB at $$113AUD; or (d) CORSAIR HS65 at $99AUD? If going wireles, what would you choose over (i) CORSAIR HS80 RGB Wireless Premium at $195AUD; or (ii) Razer BlackShark V2 Pro Wireless at $149AUD; or (ii) Razer Barracuda X (2021 model) at $100AUD or (2022 model) bluetooth version at $164. Or any other headset that is superior/better value than the above. Thanks

What the fuck, I clicked on microphone test and thought (before reading info on the screen) that you're still using your regular microphone. @@leothunders9366 sorry i should have been more specific, the cable they used for the wired headset is REALLY bad, the material is a low quality plastic that almost feels like rubber and over time it will literally break and expose the internals, it's not good for longevity, i owned one and had to wrap the entire cable with electrical tape to make it last.

This review got me to buy the HS80 and they were indeed really outstanding in terms of mic quality , sound clarity and overall design. I chose however to return them after a month and I am writing a long post to explain why : - Dmitry was not kidding when he talked about the range - it is very poor, I can not leave my room without my mates on discord complaining that sound was cutting or my music/podcast interrupting. From what I gather as soon as there is a thin wall between you and the reciever you can still hear your media playing however the mic starts cutting. Take one or two extra steps and then the sound cuts also. I understand that high fidelity wireless sound comes at the cost of range however I do not see the point of having a wireless headset that can only be used in the same room as the reciever especially since you'll be plugged in once per day to charge it anyways. Probably this is only useful when you want to game from your couch on your PS5, however go grab yourself a beer in the kitchen and you'll have to tell your mates "yo I'm grabbing a beer, I won't hear you because of the shit range on my wireless headset, brb" - The "Mic off, Microphone Feedback off" continues to be irritating even after a month ( I just wanted to point out this issue does not go away and it is actually bothersome especially because the voice message covers any sound that might be playing ) - The battery life is less than the 20 hours that were advertised. In a full work from home + gaming at night day I would have to recharge it about every 8 hours (even though the RGB component on the sides as well as the mic light was turned off) - Dolby Atmos did not fit my needs even when I tried multiple custom EQ settings. The only game where Dolby Atmos's Surround feature shined (for me) was Red Dead Redemption 2 However in competitive FPS (Apex, Warzone etc.) the 3D Surround was underwhelming at best in my subjective experience. Dolby Atmos in general makes everything sound quieter and I would have to up the gain of my sound in order to actually hear stuff in movies and games - I've had the "quiet microphone" issue which seem to affect a very reduced set of users where the microphone's gain was set to -6db so no one can hear me in discord or Slack calls. This issue has been fixed however for me in the latest ICuE patch and a temporary fix was using EqualizerAPO to manually set the mic gain This headset has good things going for it and some of my opinions around dolby atmos are subjective - what doesn't work for me might work for you. If low wireless range does not bother you this headset is incredible. I've decided however to return the headset and keep an Arctis 7 which : - At least allows me to have the wireless range in all my appartment - Sound clarity and microphone quality of Arctis 7 is miles below that of the HS80. However using and tweaking Steelseries's Sonar I managed to close the gap using their pretty decent EQs for sound and mic ( thank you for taking the time to read 🙏)

Thank you for this very detailed review, now I have a better image about this product. Low range is no issue for me, mic quality is nice to have but nothing I would require or decide my purchase on (if it's at least decent enough). My concern is its weight, and battery life of course

I had to return it because it does not fit large heads well. My hat size is 8 3/8 and this headset was way too small, even after removing the elastic band. It kept sliding up and falling off my head, it's a shame because the mic is so good. The elastic design is so counter-intuitive. You are trying to push the headset down so it fits your head... and then they add an elastic band that is pushing the headset UP away from your head.

Btw, it's not sound "compression" (that is reduced bandwidth, for instance horrible bluetooth mics codecs that compress so much you can barely understand ppl) but noise cancellation and/or just that some mics are more directional than others.

Hi Dmitry, I love your headphone reviews. How do you rate the VIRTUOSO RGB WIRELESS XT? I'm looking at a higher-end set and thinking of cutting some wires. I got my hands on one to feel at a local store and like that there's almost no plastic--the band is metal so no chance of breaking from constant putting on and off. I hate to say it, but my Sennheiser (now epos) gsp 600's are mostly plastic, which has cracked and the ear-cups have disintegrated . . . again after less than a year after replacing the originals. I love how they sound and feel, but the quality issues are really pissing me off. I need good sound when editing videos and doing audio, but also for gaming, so if the Virtuoso's are good, I'm down to try them. Unless you think they'll be upgraded/revised soon. I can wait some. Thanks and great vid as always!!!
