I love how this video is not only a showcase of the case's features, but a showcase of the case's compatibility with high end components as well. Not many people doo that nowadays, they just talk about "oh this case has this many drives and look it has this and that here" - information i can just pick up from the manufacturer's site. Mostly I'm left with watching videos, hoping for shots of the interior and speculating whether my components fit or not.

You're right, I'm curious as to why they didn't make it upright like a mini Air, I guess it would clash with the Obsidian front design. Maybe they will make a rotated Air version later.

Maybe if they had called it the 250R rather than 250i (R for rotated), it could be part of the carbide series, alongside the air? :)

Just completed a build using this case. Pretty nice case. Well-designed. Cabling is a mess and there's not much you can do about it-just do the best you can to get them out of the way. The SSD and HDD trays can be a pain in the rear to line up when you are reinserting them. Fans are plenty quiet.

I would love to see corsair make a slim vertical mini itx tower that uses a 90 degree PCIE riser card to make room for a full size graphics card and have its rear i/o aligned with the mini itx i/o to make the case thin. the case could look like a large Nintendo Wii, and could have ventilation vents for the GPU, CPU , and an SFF power supply on the exterior with magnetic fan filters. At the front, it could have a slim slot load optical bay to preserve a clean look. they could call it the corsair 150d. great video review by the way Lauren!

watching the end of the video i was thinking the same thing as you said it. I quite like the case on the side as you were displaying it at the end the only downside to that is the graphics card sucking air in through the side panel would be restricted so may need to make it a little bigger to be honest it wouldn't take much to mod a new panel for the front and just do it like that anyway. Do the feet come off or are they part of the case ?
@TastyPC11 жыл бұрын
The case would obviously need to be re-designed slightly, but it doesn't seem like it'd take much.. facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=448987555227279&set=a.158695394256498.32064.155031034622934&type=1&stream_ref=10

@WiktorJurek10 жыл бұрын
Hey! I am really excited as I am soon upgrading my rig and making it more compact (ITX) so I'll be getting a new processor, graphics card, case and motherboard. Now I've been snooping around the market and stumbled upon this case, I love the look of it, the size. It's just perfect. My only problem is that I don't know if my new graphics card will fit in it, considering it's very small form factor. I want to buy the R9 280x and some reviewers say that It might be too long, and I need to mae this build pretty much silent as it will be sitting like a foot away from me on my desk; any quiet fan recommendations? And also, do you have a cable management tutorial? The guts of this build are pretty much immaculate! It looks amazing! See, I'm new to building PC's (only built 1) and the cables are all cluttered, literally makes me cringe too look inside and it'd be great if you could maybe make a video showing how to get your cables so organized.
@iamjsmith8310 жыл бұрын
Don't go mini-ITX unless you absolutely must. I think the only reason you should is if you want to put it somewhere where the height of a micro-ATX case is too much.
@rps21510 жыл бұрын
Depends on which 280X. I think all the Sapphire and HIS ones, as well as MSI and Gigabyte ones will fit in just fine. Obviously you cannot put triple slot cards in there, though some 2.5 slot cards like the MSI GTX 780 Lightning can get in, though it takes a bit of effort.

Great looking Mini-ITX case and build. I'm looking at some of the new gaming chassis that are inspired by the console/'steam box' trend. AZZA's case that is being used in the CyberPowerPC Zeus Mini and Silverstone's Raven RVZ01 are examples of changing the form factor by re-orienting the graphics with a pci-e riser card. They should be available soon. I'd love to see a build of one of these from you.

Both of the side panels have a removable magnetic dust filter.. Then there is also the one at the front that I showed that clips out, and the one for the PSU intake under the bottom of the case. The only grills that aren't covered is the 2x 80mm fan mounts and the HDD vent.

Would something like a hyper 212 evo fit in there?
@SteveMavronis11 жыл бұрын
There seems to be up to 150mm space inside for a CPU cooler based on my research. I think the Hyper 212 is larger than that. Select something somewhat less than 150mm in height for some breathing room so you don't hit into the window.
@TastyPC11 жыл бұрын
It's 158mm high, so about 10mm+ too tall by my measurements and even then you might have issues with your motherboard/memory clearance.
@SteveMavronis11 жыл бұрын
TastyPCTV Also I wasn't considering if a DVD drive overhangs the 5.25" bay if in use. So maybe 95mm is a safe number after all.

This has become the case I want to build in ever since its debut. Until then I never considered any mini-ITX case. So I've been spec'ing out my build as an air cooled unit. There seems to be a typo or not sure what Corsair was thinking with the box claiming 95mm air cooler height, when clearly there is about 150mm from motherboard surface to roof panel. Maybe they are accounting for DVD drive obstruction. Anyway I can't wait to build this using the Asus Maximus VI Impact and Noctua CPU cooler & fans. I think that will give it a nice look and be a powerhouse i7-4770K system for me. Thanks for the great review Lauren!
@SteveMavronis11 жыл бұрын
***** Well, I'm still evaluating the size and fit specs for anything under 150mm tall to play it safe and I have to account for how much of the motherboard edge over the RAM slots will an optical drive cover for coolers above 95mm. My favorite existing Noctua cooler is the NH-U9B SE2 (71x95x125mm) w/2x NF-B9 92x92x25mm Fans. I'm trying to decide what orientation would work best for case air flow. If I have the fans front to back, one covers the inside RAM slot so I'd have to use memory with low profile heat spreaders, and I have to see if it clears a DVD drive installed. I could turn it sideways since it's 95mm wide and it wouldn't block anything except maybe the Asus Maximus VI Impact's VRM riser, of which I'm trying to get a solid number for its height off the motherboard plus the SFX audio riser card. I also like the low profile Noctua NH-C12P SE14 (152x126x114mm) w/NF-P14 140x140x25mm Fan but because it's large and 114mm high it will have to mount sideways but I'm worried if the heat pipes will hit the VRM module. What I'm looking at are coolers that won't interfere with an optical drive or the RAM slots. There are a couple future Noctua 95x95mm footprint coolers that I like for 100% motherboard compatibility. They were shown at Computex 2013. One is a 95x95x65mm tall version (including 92mm fan) similar to the NH-L9 series but taller. The other is a twin tower cooler that goes 95x95mm vertically with a 92mm fan in the middle. The prototype also has clips for optional extra fans on each end. Noctua told me the expected Q1 2014 release has been postponed due to other projects so they might not be out until later this year. Those would be as perfect as you could get with 95x95mm vertical footprints. As far as that optical drive bay, it is removable at least. One could go with an external optical drive as a workaround but I like everything self-contained if possible.
@SteveMavronis11 жыл бұрын
I'm also looking at all the other brands too. When I find one the right size and looks good to my eye then I check out reviews to see if it's crap or not. I'm trying to do everything in my power to avoid a water cooling solution because for me that seems like an accident waiting to happen. If I was into extreme overclocking maybe that would be my thing.

Well actually, i had an 850D and my power button stuck too. Not to mention the quick swap drive bay card was broken too...had to return the whole case because Corsair would not even respond to me..really soured my experience with them, and will avoid them whenever possible.
