I did a mini itx build in it a while ago. It wasn't easy though. Cable management is kinda so-so in this kind of environment, their h100i actually fits, but barely, and the front fan will get choked without any clearance on the inside

I'm getting this case shipped in today to replace my BitFenix Prodigy. My Prodigy case was shipped to me with a slightly broken leg and with it being plastic it eventually snapped. I have the 350D window version. I love the stylish and simplistic design. They really put some effort in to these cases for the enthusiast out there. Plan to add the H100i to mine eventually. I definitely want this one to replace my ugly HP tower that I have been using for a Media PC on my TV.

The new BitFenix Prodigy has a cutout for the PSU for your cables to fit and the sides have been shaved down surrounding the PSU as well. There hasn't been ANY reviews of it yet. I got mine from Microcenter and was planning on making a video about it to upload to my alternate channel. If you live near a Microcenter, ask to take a look at a BitFenix Prodigy BLACK. You might see the new version of it like me. I'm not talking about the Prodigy M.

I had a prodigy and i got rid of it because of the power limitation issue when it cam to modular PSU. Cable would constantly pinch and I was always uncomfortable with that. Corsair is really good at making cases. Right now I'm only considering 2 cases and both are by Corsair. The 250D or the 400C. Obviously it's a matter of whether I go ATX or mITX.
@s1ky1911 жыл бұрын
i like the idea of aluminium for aesthetics. the case is really boxy but its still better looking than most. i prefer my bitfenix phenom as it is similar in size but holds a micro atx case but this case would make for a much easier build.
@MrMagic122511 жыл бұрын
If I wanted water cooling I'd get the Bitfenix Prodigy or any other bitfenix itx case (since they basically use all the same parts inside) but if I were to build a portable PC I'd want to move constantly I'd use the 250D because of its impressive size.
@TheWayOfAlex11 жыл бұрын
I prefer this one. I already have a full ATX rig but I think I want to upgrade it and recycle some of the parts into a secondary rig in one of these cases. I could upgrade my rig to near optimal specs for $1500 and then build a 250D rig for an additional $500. There's just no need for it unfortunately so I don't see it happening very soon.
@waitchison11 жыл бұрын
Very nice review! I've been running the Prodigy for quite a while now, and I have to say I likely would have picked this case had it been available when I built my system. I love the placement of the drive cages on the 250D, and it seems like it's the right way to lay things out. The Prodigy leaves some empty space on either side of the PSU for cable management, but in my mind its not an ideal solution. Some other pro's and con's versus the Prodigy: -Case feet on the Prodigy are flimsy, and the unit is pretty wobbly when loaded up. -The front ventilation on the 250D cannot be as good as a Prodigy Black w/ 230mm fan front and centre, however the front of the Prodigy Black just doesn't look as good in my opinion - just a trade off to keep in mind. Personally I don't care too much about the window placement, or the top radiator vs side radiator mounting.

In my opinion the Silverstone Fortress FT03 mini and non mini are unmached in therms of design in the miniITX/microATX market. The more vertical aproach also makes way more sence to me from a space efficiency perspective. The top panel window however is pretty much the best idea ever.

I actually chose the prodigy for my HTPC build that's on the way. I'm considering moving my main rig into it though and getting a 250d or smaller form factor case for the HTPC instead. The only downside to this is that I would be coming from an ATX motherboard so I'd need a new ITX board.

Given the considerable size difference between the Prodigy and this case, comparing them is like comparing apples and oranges. I personally have a prodigy and I can tell you now that, while being smaller than full towers, it fills the same role. It beats the obsidian there. The obsidian would be way better for plan parties, or as a living room PC than the prodigy though.

I think I might get this case and sell my phenom. The phenom is a beautiful case, but the drive layout is a pain in my opinion. The proximity of the drive Bay latches to the door power side panel is too close and makes routing cables to it difficult. If you put and ssd in the side panel, it makes opening and cleaning the case a chore. If you flip it and put it on the other side, then it is too close to the Gfx card. I could not manage to do that since it was pushing my Gfx card. I like the drive layout in this one. Problem is that I have a kraken x40 and I doubt it would fit well in there. Maybe I should move up to matx.

How big is this compared to the Bitfenix Prodigy? I thought the Prodigy seemed a lot bigger?
@SheepInACart11 жыл бұрын
The Bitfenix is much larger, its 114mm taller and 9mm longer, however its 27mm narrower since it lacks the side rad support. Its interesting to note however they have basically the same internal space due to the Bitfenix prodigy's large handles, so if you where to mod the case to remove them and put the case on some short feet they'd be about the same size. I like the 250d more though, the design is just more sensible, for example you can mount a 240mm radiator and a 5.25" drive, the PSU length isn't a binding limitation and it features dust filters. For those who care it also has a window without limiting the graphics cards intake, but I'd honestly be more likely to mod the 250d to mount a 3.5" (or 2x2.5") drives where the window is than choose a case because it has one.

Here are my two cents on Silverstone SG10 vs Corsair 250D.... I have built two seperate SG10 systems for family and friends, while building with the SG10 and I have found that if you want high end parts, actually fitting them becomes a real challenge. For example, high end air cooler wise, a Noctua NH-D14 gets so close and physically touches the side 120mm fan and stops from fitting extra 92mm side fans without going to 80mm or to thin 92mm fans, so if you buy a high end open video card, you cannot fit the best side fans to cool it. Also the graphics card 8-pin cables become a hassle due to hardly clearing the side fans blades, and becomes much more difficuilt when going SLI or Crossfire. All in all when you start to fit multiple high end (big in size) parts it becomes a nightmare, and every extra cable you add becomes exponentially harder to fit. Do not get me wrong I really like the SG10, I am using one right now as I type this, the SG10 works for single graphics cards and a moderately high end system, but when you start to go high end as in SLI, Crossfire, big air coolers (NH-D14) best of the best, parts start to get in each others way and you have to sacrifice other parts to prevent parts touching, such as having to get thinner lower performing side fans to allow for your bigger aircooler. I originally was buying an SG10, but after building systems in it, I chose to buy the Corsair 250D due how much easier it is to build high end systems in it. In my case I am not after sli or crossfire and 16GB ram is plenty, so MITX works for me and i do not lose anything.

Dimitry, this thing is definitely not " teeny tiny". this thing would have been a great choice for micro ATX. A micro ATX board can fit inside, you could get more for your space with that idea. i hate how case manufactures make cases this big for mini itx! they could have gone with a 90 degree PCIE riser card to allow a large GPU in a THIN and SMALL form factor. Corsair can really learn from Digital Storm, their mini itx case, the BOLT is truly a work of art and ingenuity, not this monstrosity for such a small board.
