True! SF600 can do the job today, but since the price gap between the SF600 and SF750 is small. I rather get the SF750 and have some extra room for future upgrades that may require more power. Who knows maybe the RTX 3800 + The new AMDs will go high enought.
@geegee97652 жыл бұрын
The ideal is actually to hit 50% when at full load, because that’s when your you hit the highest efficiency. around 300 watts would be ideal for SF600 while 375 watts is ideal for SF750
@jrasero234 жыл бұрын
Now with RTX 3000 launching and the increased wattage needed a SF750 isn't really a luxury or just nice to have but might bee needed in a lot of ITX builds. A high end MITX system of a 3900X, 32GB DDR4 dual channel, 2 M.2 PCIe SSD, 4 USB 3.0 devices, 2 case fans, 240mm AIO and a RTX 3080 comes to 597W max load, so that SF600 isn't going to cut it and you will need a 650W-700W PSU. If we switch to a RTX 3090 the projected load wattage is 627W so the recommended PSU should be 700W-750W
@bertraminc94125 жыл бұрын
The correct thing to do is over clock the highest consuming cpu and GPU combo and state the power requirement and then determine the min output under load of the power supply that will not dip below that power. Then we would know the info we need.
@Scarletpimpanel734 жыл бұрын
Personally the Power supply is a "for the life of the system" purchase in my view. Therefore you want it to have enough headroom to accomodate all other foreseeable upgrades to the system. It's a bit like a motherboard in that sense. So I'll spend a little more on the Power supply than needed for the initial system spec.
@warnacokelat4 жыл бұрын
Bought the SF750 because it's only 20$ more than SF600 and I want my ITX build to be quiet as much as possible. However, nobody told me that the PSU will get pretty warm when the fan not spinning. And I don't think the PSU fan will ever spin inside my mid range system.

Great information! What are your thoughts on using the 750w over the 600w on a typical 9900k \ RTX 2080 TI build in order to drop the amount of noise coming from the Unit? I like the idea of running at 70-80% utilization during my peaks, but that also brings about noise from the fan. Shouldn't being in 50-60% utilization range of the 750w lower the total RPM of the fan, and the subsequent noise? Just curious what your thoughts on this is, because I am trying to figure out which one to go with. Thanks again!
@JTTR5 жыл бұрын
I think if you're not price conscious at all and lowest noise footprint is possible is your concern then what you're saying makes total sense. What I would think about is what the db difference would be and if it is worth the price delta between the two models. I can't be certain since I don't have both models but a quick search online shows that at 600w, the difference is maybe between 5 - 10db but this is from different sources with different environments.

I would've purchased a cheaper PSU but this was the only unit i could find for my ITX build due to COVID-19. I'm pleased with it. its in a NR200 with a 3900XT and RX 5700XT with 32GB DDR4 on a B550I

Nice! How are you liking the NR200? Thinking of doing a build video of my Ghost S1 and NZXT H1 with plans of picking up a NR200 shortly after.
@alkymistendenmark4 жыл бұрын
But when capacitors degrade it could potentially pose a problem if you have it both overclocked and a powerhungry card. I think its not exactly overkill considering the trends in GPU power draw. Better have some headroom. If your test ran 550w a 650w 80% efficient CPU is still only 520w and some years later it might fail.

@longdogsofwar86214 жыл бұрын
I just ordered this and its about 40 ish more bucks than the 600, I think with future proofing in mind even for an ITX overclock, thats a small price to pay for peace of mind. The better option would of been for them to skip both the 600 and 750 watt variants and make a 650 watt but its possible they are forcing ppl to make a decision of possibly being underpowered and save 40 bucks or pay the premium and have peace of mind which is a little shady but thats the business.

@@jhereylle Even with OC on the CPU and GPU I think the 600w should be good enough. I have a SF600 in that system now, with the SF750 in another build and it's been solid. Without OC, the 600w will handle that configuration no problem. For the PSU itself, you should take a look at other manufactures as well. I believe the SFX Silverstone 600w variants are 80 plus gold with some of the newer ones at 80 plus plat.

@@nawtieshehzada I don't have personal experience with the 450gm but it looks decent from reviews. With overclocking, you'll be running real close to the wall. If you want to min-max, you might need to pick up a kill-a-watt and see how much you're drawing.

@TheBigBlueMarble2 жыл бұрын
I disagree with the conclusions you have drawn from your testing. For your initial test scenario I would argue that the 750w PSU is underpowered for optimal performance. An 800w power supply would actually be preferable. If you notice, the SFX750 reaches its maximum efficiency between 40% and 50% load (300-375 watts). This would be the target load to get the most efficient use of this power supply. An 800 w power supply, with a similar efficiency curve, would place its highest efficiency right around the 400 to 450 watt level. Perfect for your non-OC test.
@JTTR2 жыл бұрын
At the time this video was made, there was not a 800w+ sfx psu available. Three years later we now have the FSP Dagger Pro 850W SFX psu. It's efficiency also peaks at around 50% but is rated gold. If I could do a follow-up video, in today's current hardware climate with new arch released for CPUs and GPUS coming left and right, I would probably recommend (from on paper specs and reviews) FSP for both it's higher power cap and it's pricing which has been coming in lower than Corsair's SF750 as of late. Thanks for watching and starting a discussion.
