55:12- The depths of guitar. I witnessed this last night, and I gotta tell ya, there was good reason for this hire! All hail the master, and magician, Steve Vai. 🤘

About halfway through currently thinking; Danny seamlessly fills the spot of Bruford... Literally no notes. Flawless. -- Vai, whenever he isn't fully honoring the Frippian aesthetic, he's certainly viewing his own style through the lens of Fripp... most of the time. In other spots he's definitely showcasing his own brand of virtuoso-ism. I think this was simultaneously my biggest point of excitement and concern, that he might be to big of a stage/musical presence for the "role". But this era of KC demanded an open mind and in that sense the creative liberty is practically permissible if not required. Besides... it's fucking Steve Vai. I ain't at all gonna be holding my nose seeing him play live. Looking forward to Beat in Chicago!

Vai is humble here. Little bit showcasing yes, it is still Steve Vai.

Vai was with Frank. Of course it's him. Who else? I never wanted to see something live as much as this.

Vai wouldn't do a "boomer bend" with Polynesia or Pollington or whatever they're called but here he does it.

Bill Bruford has nothing to worry about, at all. For all of Danny Carey's talent, he is out of his element here. Steve Vai is not Robert Frippe, but he is doing a better job than Carey. Carey is the weakest part of the band, unfortunately. This could have been absolutely great. It is just pretty good. Sometimes, nostalgia is best left in memories of the past than trying to recreate it in the present . . .
@fleales2 ай бұрын
lol don't think it was ever a competition. I think it is more to do with the Articulation of Bills playing, Danny hits pretty hard and Bill a bit more subtle...honestly Danny is doing better than most would after only a few shows

It's noise to me. Never was into experimental music. That being said, I respect their skills and showmanship. It's just not music I like to hear very much.
