Maestro Corti makes several great points here, and really makes one wonder; What would it have been like to have Bach as your teacher/master? Profoundly meaningful, no doubt...and scarier than unholy Helk itself. I'd have paid a vast fortune to have been put into that position (I'd have snuck in my smartphone to record it all for the rest of ya's...yeah, I'm that nice). "To dot, or over dot?? That is the (one, of trizillions) Bachian question(s). The most poignant, beautiful, and powerful thing is that we spend entire lifetimes pondering/experimenting, and we're never 100% sure...and (as Corti alludes) we NEVER get weary of contemplating these Bachian riddles. Nope, that's totally impossible. // NBS, never cease...ever.

Corti's interpretation for each movement is very interesting: he's adding his own ornaments (at the repeating sections), while letting those of Bach's own ornaments to determine the tempo for each movement. And right he is! - because Bach's ornaments are actually not ornaments in the sense of decorations, but an integral part of the melodic lines. Their realization forces the player to slow a little bit the tempo which would otherwise be faster: like in the Gigue. And as he wanted to maintain the dance-character of this movement, he made it sound like a French Overture - again, very wisely. Thank you Corti for your interpretation, for your interview, and for the very beautifully-sounded whole performance, as was heard in the previous upload. Thanks also NBS.

Concordo. Bach non stanca MAI. Complimenti vivissimi per la sua " super musicalità" e bravura.

Thank you, Maestro Corti and NBS! I can almost hear Bach saying: "I won't change your nappies! Think for yourself! It's your job to solve it!" 😁

Delightful to hear his learned approaches and to understand the reasoning behind his unique decisions for each movement. I had never heard of the pupil's manuscript with extra ornamentation. I think an additional manuscript should be made with Glenn Gould's interpretation, some of his figurations are wildly unique yet once you hear them you never want to hear it the plain way every other pianist plays it. Corti is right that most modern musicians are scared to ornament this music.
