I'm not sure you said this: If there is a LMN lesion in the hypoglossal nerve, the tongue should deviate toward the side of the lesion. If it is an UMN lesion, the tongue should deviate to the opposite side of the lesion.

Is the corticobulbar tract just innervating nuclei of CNIX-CNXII or is it all the ones shown here? I sense anatomists and clinicians do different things :S

I thought that the tract inervated bilaterally the hipogloso, except for the portion that inervated the geniogloso muscle: that portion was contralateral.

Yes, I think the genioglossus muscle is the only contralateral one.
