Since completing this, I'll probably go back and add some Zerk fittings to the bushings to make them easier to grease in the future. Otherwise I'm VERY happy with the new suspension. Front brake upgrades coming NEXT!! Sean & Christie

The rears are solid spherical bearings inside. The only rubber are the two flat donuts, installed to fool the tech inspectors when drag racing the G-bodies. Tack welding them is a good idea.

Good to know, I think you're the one who turned me on to these bushings. I do need to put in some Zerk fittings for preventive maintenance. Thanks Seth, you're a wealth of knowledge!

Great video. Sucks about that broken bolt but no surprise. I, too, was surprised you didn't do the backing plates while there. Although I appreciate the fact it's a pain to pull the bearing apart. You can do it when you do the zerk fittings, especially if you do the bearings while there. However, I've heard that's a good way to ruin the brakes, too. You have to be careful not to add too much grease, otherwise it'll come out the seals and get to your shoes. Looking forward to front discs! Since you've already cut a ring up front, go with the HD or custom springs up front. If you cut 2 rings up front, it won't be streetable anymore IMHO.

HI Shaun, I finally watched all your Corvair videos. I envy you, in a good way, for having such much knowledge, curiosity and intuition to perform so much and excellent changes to the humble 65 flooded Corvair. I love to whatch documentaries and almost anything related to cars. Hlwever, I have nener, never whatched any compilation that compare to what you do. Superb work. Congratulations. I'm an optimist, but also realistic. And watching your videos I apreciate all the hard work you have had to put on this and other projects of yours. Nevertheless we should appreciate all the time and frustration you have had when things don't came out as planed, and during those times I can speculate the burden on your personal and professional live. Hope than xome younger generation can relate to the impotance of working on what one love with pride, consistency and love. At my age and health condition I can only dream, but will love to have a Corvair just like yours. God bless!

Sean, I'm surprised that while the rear wheels and brake parts were removed, you'd rebuild the wheel brake cylinders. The passenger side looked like there was some dampness on the under side. Cleaning up the backing plates and repainting them.

Hi Sean. Thanks for the video! 👍 Great update and now the suspension is better than the rust in the back... 😉 Is it possible to adjust the negative camber? Because you're riding on the inside of the wheels now and may cause higher tire wear.... But looks really good now! 👍 👍 👍 Have a nice day! 🙋🏼♂️

I was curious of how yours would look after the swap. I used the HD springs front and rear on my ‘65. I’m running 195 front and 205 rear tires on 15x7” rims. The smaller tires in front help a bit but the rear still looks too low and my oil pan scrapes on steep driveways. The front is a good height, so I am wondering how best to raise the rear so that the car sits slightly higher rear than the front. Thanks for the extremely helpful videos.
@stephenholland59307 ай бұрын
Bigger section tyres would give more sidewall height. Say maybe 70 or 75 section.
@AutoAnatomy7 ай бұрын
Yeah, I think the rear is a good height but would like to drop the front about an inch. May end up doing the HD front springs as well

Interesting, then were the regular Camaro wheels 15" and the IROC 16?
@sethemerson8857 ай бұрын
@@AutoAnatomy Base Camaro had 14" wheels/tires through the 80s 82-on Z28 wheels were the 15 x 7 spoke allows like yours, also offered as part of an RS package. There were some IROC looking 15" wheels in the early 90s. Hard to find. In 93, the 4th gen cars got 16" wheels as standard and wider wheels were an option, but 93-later wheels have the wrong offset for the Corvair.
