Found it pretty awesome that my grandparents in the middle of nowhere were telling me about this great guy who has this show called Roadworthy Rescues. He has a youtube channel too and his videos are really wholesome. I replied "Well I'll be dipped!". Its great to see the progress that this channel deserves. Every person will say "been watching since yadda yadda" but I remember when you flipping chevelles was how you kept projects rolling and I love that you're able to hold onto these beauties now. Hope to see the growth continue. There's no channel that deserves it more.

This build is near to my heart. A buddy of my back in highschool had one that was sky blue, I had a caprice classic, mine was a 78 his was a 76. We used talk about racing them once we fixed them up, but he passed away before we got them done. Its nice to see this one come around for a second time. All of your builds are awesome and I personally love the "budget" aspect + your personality is just awesome. Humble and kind , thank you sir for all the infotainment over the years.

@@stevenbaker9327 compared to widebody frs builds, k swapped Ferrari builds, blower big block firebird build, twin turbo, lenco trans builds, AWD turbo Honda builds.....most of these have a transmission worth more than this car. Just because it wasn't built for 20$ doesn't mean it's no comparatively "budget friendly"
@johnhpalmer6098
@johnhpalmer6098 Жыл бұрын
@@ryurc3033 I would agree, in comparison to many, it's a budget build as he often uses what he already has, and what he does buy are necessary for stock car/drag car/burnout competitions and be street legal for events like Sick week, plus the parts needed to get the engine going properly and I bet the most expensive thing is the fuel injection unit itself, which is no cheapie or stock unit and I bet it is more reasonably priced than some other units. I like that his builds are also low key, but look great and are quite potent for what they are. But yeah, not as budget as some may think, but way more than others we often see. In fact, that LS Corvette he bought oh, over a year ago, wrecked, and using that for the Monte Carlo and if that isn't considered in the budget category, I don't know what is.
@sling3lade791

Dont be a poor. I didn't say all of his builds were broke friendly. But his reuse and repurpose of many parts and the ' elbo grease' paint revival is more of what I'm referring to.

100%. I haven’t messed with cars since 70’s early 80’s. Systems programming for 40 years, and just retired. I want a truck for the farm, a run forever, easy to repair (myself), and finding a good 60s,70’s truck without spending 20k is difficult. So I’m LS on a gmc 4x4. It’s all there but I’m having to learn about modern automotive wiring/sensors/computer management systems. Dereck makes it look easy, which is what I need to see how the big pieces go together. I’ve looked at a few trucks that other guys have done, I’m sure I wouldn’t buy them Becuase the chances that they got all the wires soldered, connected properly are slim. Good luck with your project.

The Landau variety with console and swivel bucket seats. Was one of the last cars I ever worked on with my Dad before he got sick and passed. Hello Vice Grip, next time you need tap a hole try using an electric 3/8” impact , the hammering of the impact helps break the metal loose while cutting threads. Having the tap in a rotating tool allows you to keep the tap centered and eliminates or reduces the chances of breaking the tap because the twisting or misalignment is reduced.

Holy smokes. You are a hit. My first car ...17 years old. Banker Ken Davis lent me $1200.00 first one year. My first loan got me a 1973 Landau Monte Carlo. From what I see this one appears to be that same year. I took the smog pump off and plugged off the EGR , scrapped the ' Rottenchester' and added a Holly. Was a great first car. What you created was a dream car and I enjoy your uncanny ability greatly.

I like the new wheels, but I think the wheels should be painted gold, looks better to me and not liking those center caps, not sure if it's because they are chrome? Either way great to see this coming together. Thanks for sharing. 🍻🇺🇸

I love those 17" rally wheels, had a similar set on my El Camino. I ran the earlier flatter style hubcaps. Either way they look brilliant. Like others have said we love the family approach to your show. Enjoy because they grow up quick.

Looks great and sounds even better... my only issue and it might just be my OCD kicking in... that crooked front bumper lol

Around 6:50, the guy was working on the forklift and then you came over and was explaining what he was doing, but you kept making a shadow right where he was working and I was like, move out of the way, so he can see! Lol

Wow ...What seemed overwhelming a couple weeks ago is now together and working great. This car should run well for many years. I like your idea for a toggle on the two step just in case.

There are 6 different part numbers for the Bosch EV1 style injectors from 1998 alone and not a single one of them are in the Terminator drop-down menu. (Exact problem we had with our ‘98 LS1) Solution was finding a good tuner who had the correct data for them and then we used the Holley software from our laptop to set them up (more options than the CAN offers)

Your just so impressive Derek, basically being a one man army you built this car in such a little amount of time. I would still be trying to figure out how to get the spark plugs out.

I second/third/many over the family interactions - always makes me smile. Speaking of smiles, I think Derek actually cracked a smile while test driving the car after it was all put together.

Your continuous efforts are appreciated. Thank you for the content, and seeing you make the kids happy!! Center caps on is preferred, but it saves time and effort leaving them off.
