damn. you make it look so easy. little screwdriver, dead blow hammer, channel locks and bam ! done ! you give me confidence to tackle this myself! thanks so much for making this video! only thing i as a novice would do different is i would lube all of the seals. i dont know if thats right or not but id do it for shits and giggles. thank you !

You only pull the o-ring with a pick when removing. You might have just cut that servo cap o-ring. I installed mine tonight. I didn't have to hammer it in. Watch for leaks when it's installed, and good luck on your build! It made my transmission shift nice and firm. It's a noticeable improvement.

Without a doubt a smaller turn makes a tighter squeal that sucks and the smaller diameter more torque is going to have the less rotation it's got to turn

@@southerngearz lol.. All joking aside. Since you made this video, have you tried The "Sonnax 2nd Gear Super Hold Servo Kit"? I just ordered that plus the "Sonnax 4th Gear Super Hold add-on" for the Sonnax 2nd gear Super Hold. The Sonnax 2nd gear says theirs holds 15% better than a Corvette servo, and the 4th gear add on is 40% better than stock. I just ordered them for mine. Going to swap out my vette servo for these and see how it does in my 500HP 6.0L swapped, 2000 Silverado 1500 with 4l60e upgraded to 4l65e. I've also seen different servo springs available, but I'm not sure I want to mess with the setup of that.

Like a boss.. installed one today.. didn’t drop tranny, & now it’s struggling shifting to 2nd, rpm’s shoot up and gotta let go of gas to shift to 3rd. I’m thinking I need to replace the snap ring and make sure the servo is in deeper because there is still play when I push it in with snap ring on. Crazy part is, the snap ring looks all seated right.. but guess I’ll keep trying because I think that’s my problem as I did everything else correctly doubled check on many videos

Yea mine has no play in it and the ring I can barely see. It sounds like you are on the right path to correcting it hope it goes well.

@@southerngearz I couldn’t push the ring any further with it already on, it seemed to fit likes it’s supposed to. But if I pry on the cover, it still pushes in. Just took the snap ring off, going to try to pry it in deep this time and set it in

@@southerngearz Please do brotha, I’ll appreciate that. If yours has play, maybe one of the seals got messed up during installation. If so, I’ll pull the whole thing out and inspect it. The normal servo my shifts were smooth, but I wanted to spice it up and hopes of prolonging my tranny lol. But we shall see. Worst comes to worst I’ll have someone look at it if I can’t get it

Installed one correctly now my torque converter is hard to move it moves but it takes effort to turn I did have it sitting without fluid for a bit but I don’t think that would be the issue any ideas??

The install should not affect the torque convertor but as for why though thats a good question. Even leaving sitting dry wouldnt do that unless you tried to drive with it dry. I dont want to say bad torque convertor but it almost sounds that way.

if my truck has a pretty delayed shift from 1st to 2nd but every other gear shifts just fine is it possible there’s a corvette servo in it? gotta shoot up to about 3 grand and sometimes even let off gas before it’ll even shift

That kind of sounds like low trans fluid actually.

@@haydenstorey5236 ah so likely not that then. Other than the fluid I would say the shift solenoids need replacing. The corvette servo makes it shift harder. Or its the torque convertor since that is what transfers the energy from the engine to the trans. It sounds like a high stall torque convertor but whats the chance someone installed a 3k stall convertor

The $20 option comes with just the plates no seals or anything. The $70 kit comes ready to go I believe I know it has all the seals and a new cap of various colors.

Ebay turbos are a good way to start just buy good wastegates and bov among other supporting mods. If you stay with street tires you are less likely to break parts in the drivetrain since tractions is when things break

It is meant to increase shift firmness but i imagine it would provide some quicker shifting but up hills will depend on how much power/torque your engine has since the trans is only as strong as the engine attached to it.
