4L60E Corvette Servo Install

Today I install the corvette servo into my truck. the Corvette servo will work with any 4L60E transmission. The part is cheap, the difficult part is getting the servo in and out. It is in very tight quarters, but if I can do it so can you.

old vid but compressing the servo then spraying it with wd40 makes it come out ALOT easier. dont need to cut the gasket doing this as well. makes the whole process less painful lol.

Thanks for the video! Used the jack handle technique. Worked eventually lol good idea. Just did mine as well as filter change and some new fluid. Fingers crossed just about to add fluid. I would like to point out as another KZbinr commented I believe the last piston you put on is backwards.

Really well made video, thanks for posting. Couple of questions though. Did a substantial amount of fluid leak out when removing the old servo? Would you recommend a decent size catch can? Will I need to add trans fluid after I'm done?

Nothing major, I think I just had a piece of cardboard and some paper towels and it was fine.

the parts you were referring to are the cover and 4th piston. the second piston goes in the middle(on top of springs)

If you didn't get new springs and a new pin with your kit then you only got half the kit and it isn't going to be any better because the spring is what changes the shift pressure without a newer stiffer rated spring you're changing nothing

Little problem so how do U get completely out of the where the servo is being held bc I got the ring and stuff off I’m struggling to get the whole thing off cuz there’s not enough spacer

That was neat how you teleported past the part where you angled the servo out of the transmission still being in the truck because on my 2003 Yukon it's impossible? I have broken it down as far as it goes and it's still hits the heat shield and floor molding. Banged it in as far as it can go no luck looking like I will have to cut a chunk of my floor out or drop the transmission so I sure would like anyone to chime in on how they got theirs out inside of the vehicle that part that you just conveniently edited out of the video. But thanks though

Lol, did you try loosen the transmission at the crossmember in the back and lowering or raising it with a jack? That usually will buy you room .

I'm not sure for your vehicle but lot of other vehicles it helps to drop exhaust and catalytic convert a little.

Had the same issue on my 03 silverado I just loosened the body mounts and jacked the cab up on the one side so the servo could clear the floor

I was just under the assumption that it was going to pop in and out like in the video. But I did end up dropping the crossmember and the driveline but even then it was still a bitch to pop the retaining ring back in. I've done it a couple of times now so it's gotten a little easier. But Silverados are way easier than yukons or tahoes

I have a tuned truck , tune activates with the tow mode will this affect my tune?

If you have a medium or high torque impact wrench it takes only a few minutes to loosen/ remove the exhaust parts in the way.

Why did you take it apart. I'm guessing you bought the rebuild kit. I bought the entire assembly from jegs. Now I'm second guessing doing the install. Got the entire assembly to avoid having to figure out all the correct placements. I really don't want to mess up my truck. Running a buisiness with it

What if the snap ring breaks half way in and half way out the servo is like stuck

I think it has been good, the truck feels a little more responsive, and like you don't need as much throttle to drive the same way I was before. The shifts are also much quicker and firmer. I plan on doing a video to compare the before and after I just need to get around to doing it.

In short no, all the bigger piston does is allow the 2-4 band to come on stronger when grabbing the drum there should be no break in period as this mods only purpose is to reduce slip and cause a firmer more rapid 1-2 shift

Hey 👋 I bought this 2005 k Chevy Silverado 1500 4X4 the original owner which was a plumber had the transmission rebuilt in 2018 and I bought it and had it for two years and everything running great and then all of a sudden it started leaking transmission fluid from the servo cover and the snap ring fell out and the other half is in it, my question is how could make that fall out and break like that ? Can anyone tell me. Please. I drove it to the transmission shop Friday April 23,2021

I tried for an hour to get the servo out I couldn't get it out. I couldn't get it to clear the frame

Same here. Looks like most people have enough room for it to clear. I had to take it apart by pulling that c clip and spring off then I could take it out piece by piece. To install, I had to do it piece by piece. Hopefully, for those who ran into this problem like we did, can save hours of time by doing it this way. I read that someone pounded the crap out of the transmission tunnel to gain clearance. That just isn't feasible.

tona6g72 I had to carefully file a small bur on the shaft thing most people hit it with a hammer once it is out but I couldn’t get the last two piece apart in the trans without some manipulation. It is definitely a difficult job in the gmt800 trucks

I had the same problem getting it out, however I just pulled three bolts from the cross member the tranny sits on so it can pivot and lowered the end the servo is in a couple of inches supported with a jack backed up by a stand (incase it fell) and it came right out 😎 good luck gentlemen

you can look on ebay and amazon and such i got mine for like 20 dollars. if you get the corvette servo and a shift kit you might bark your tires shifting from first too second depending on how strong of a shift kit you get and how much power your making

What does changing the servo even do?

The servo presses on the 2nd and 4th gear band. Most stock servos slowly/softly shift into 2nd and 4th. A Corvette servo will shift harder from 1st to second 2nd and 3rd to 4th. Basically allowing harder and faster shifts. This will help you achieve a much faster acceleration. Its really noticeable at wide open. If your just highway cruzing or in town car, you might want to leave your stock servo alone.

John Mills eliminating slip stops the gear from being held as long so therefor you will be technically faster but just barely

Just cut through the floor and get a piece of weather seal and rivet it in under the carpet, you won’t even see it or notice it. Plus it gives you access to your trans lines too

Very important to show which way that last disk goes on! Put in the wrong way and put it in it will RUIN the blue gasket and you’ll have to cut it out again. If you put a video up, be CLEAR, and precise. Thanks

You don't have to cut the blue o ring. All you have to do is stretch it out and the cover will come off. Why does everyone think you have to cut it?...smh...
