This follows a new South African Warship Amotola F145 (Corvette Class) from where it was built in Hamburg to South Africa. It shows how the boat is run and profiles the crew. Explores how the boat's operation will include drug patrol in the Southern Atlantic

The old ships were put into long term storage (museum) the new ships are all active including the submarines

The frigates are all defective,only one is working. Lets not mention the limping submarine.. all is not lost tho. The Navy has aquired new ships. The first one pending delivery this year

No they're not. Only SAS Spioenkop(F147) is active. She's on deployment in Mozambique. F145 is in refit. F146 is completely dead. F148 hasnt had a real trip in over 10 years.

there are 4 frigates at any one time there are two operational, 1 for training and 1 in refit.

Ignore the ignorant racists, they're the past, we're the future, and I agree with you, we can be very proud of the South African Navy - our ships and submarines regularly out-perform our UK and US counterparts in joint exercises. Any stupid racists that dont believe me can look it up - this ship Amatola is especially well-run according to unbiased observers.

Sproxxin, If you have bandits raid your marine shipping or people fish your waters to death or an enemy decides to invade you, who will come to your rescue other than your own defence forces? It costs a lot to be free, which is what most people forget these days. In my opinion it's money well spent.

Our navy patrols the waters of the Mozambique Channel. When NATO and EU naval forces were launched in the Indian Ocean off Somalia, they expressed a concern that pirates would begin operating further down the coast, attacking the shipping lanes in the channel that are vital to world trade - naturally our navy stepped up to block them off :)

Listen very carefully, the black people are learning...and quite fast. We are now ALL ONE nations and work together. It is in the US where racism and "Apartheid" (Indian reservations) still exist...as well as in many other countries. I only HATE this "Affirmative Action" policy of South Africa...and it is now 23 years after the end of Apartheid! :-(
