I was proven dead wrong thinking that Cosmo Sheldrake's performances couldn't get better; Bravo to him, HOWL, and everyone else!
@Ahzpayne10 ай бұрын
Does "standing still in one spot" constitute "performance" at this point? Don't get me wrong. Sounds great. But to call what he did a performance is an insult to any artist who puts in effort beyond instrumental proficiency. Plenty of professional singers can sound good live. The good ones put extra effort into the show. Aka: the performance.
@NeonPaladin10 ай бұрын
@@Ahzpayne This is objectively wrong. Did you even pay attention to the cinematography or the song? Cosmo doesn't have to put on a show and dance around to entertain his audience. His performances are purely about the music.

Does the swallow dream of flying As it sleeps on the wing Does it long for the summer As it flies home for spring Does Daisy feel a sadness At the last rays of sun Does the wind feel a gladness At the work that it's done I won't go making mountains Out of molehills Any more I won't go chasing windmills Round in circles Any more I won't go preaching sermons To the choir what's it for? I won't go through the motions anymore Does the river ever wonder What will come round the bend? As it twists and meanders Down its slow descent I looked out over London With my last cup of tea My gaze was returned by Grey cloud and steel

Does the acorn dream of oak tree As it rests beneath asleep Does it know the full potential Of the roots that it will keep Does the river hear the ocean's roar As it journeys along its way Does it feel the pull that's leading Closer with each day I won't go second-guessing Or predicting what's unknown I won't go judging nature What has yet to fully show I won't go forcing meanings Where there are none to be found I won't go digging answers Hidden underneath the ground Does the seedling know what it will be As it sprouts for the very first time Does the eggshell feel the chick that is growing up inside I looked out over meadow At the buds on new spring trees My gaze was met by new beginnings And promise on the breeze

I loved this song from the first time I heard it, but always felt it ended too abruptly. This is my first time listening to this studio version and it DELIVERS. The horns and wind instruments from around 3:15 onward are devastatingly passionate and powerful, feeling distinctly like an unstoppable, indomitable natural force such as a tsunami, pyroclastic cloud, or extinction-level event. To me, it embodies mortality, and how undeniable it is. But to finish so sweetly is the cherry on top, as if to say "Even when you are gone, life will go on." It is the sympathetic shrug that accepts how temporary everything is. Fantastic as always, thank you Cosmo Sheldrake and Howl!
