MJ being jealous of Peter’s success is actually pretty relatable. Jealousy doesn’t inherently make you a bad person. You can be close to someone and still be jealous of them over something. I have a younger brother who’s in college, and he’s pretty popular and has a lot of friends to hang out with. Something I can’t really say the same about myself. But it’s not something that really comes between us because we’re still best friends.

I myself enjoyed Homecoming, but I’ll admit there are probably potential issues I missed. My biggest one was and still kinda is how badly Tony treats Peter throughout the movie. He’s pretty dismissive and flippant towards Peter, which is a major reason why most of the plot even happens in the first place. I don’t recall if Tony is properly called out for how badly he handled things. And was he at ever point going to help Peter get a better handle on that suit he gave him?

Here’s the thing about a movie like TASAM 2. It’s over criticized, yes. But that’s only because I think people get hung up over the wrong stuff in it while other things kinda fly under the radar. I don’t really see anyone talk about how it’s a bit iffy how Peter doesn’t seem to show any interest in further investigating Oscorp after finding out from his father’s video that he fled from them because of how corrupt they were. He could start by trying to get into contact with Harry. Share with him what he found out and ask him if he knows if Oscorp is up to anything else. Even if Peter doesn’t really get anywhere he’d still get points for trying.
@mr.nobody2858Күн бұрын
One thing you forgot to mention is Harry being another problem in the movie. Due to the fact that he wasn’t shown at all in the first film but they decided to insert him inexplicably in the second instalment because they probably forgot Peter was friends with Harry Osborn. They try to make it seem like their relationship has been good for a while but we don’t get much to go off of it because the first film never established or gave us much to work with for Peter’s relationship with Harry. The second film where Harry does appear, also doesn’t provide us much. So Harry just feels like an unnecessary puzzle and background character in Peter’s journey rather than an important person in Peter’s life we should give a fuck about. But all they did was make him the Hob-Goblin to further the plot rather than taking the time to build on it in order to enhance the impact it would have on the audience.

It's not as bad as his She Hulk vid, as he at least raises occasional good points, but it feels like he's so distracted by the intentionally campy moments he thinks are unintentional that he either misses the actual subtle moments, or gaslights himself into thinking that those moments are campy too. It's the same thing as people who think Mommy Dearest is hilariously campy, despite being an incredibly dark and grim story about child abuse simply because Faye Dunaway is giving an over the top performance while playing a character who in real life was very over the top.

One way I think to improve the Peter and Harry stuff in TASAM 2 would be to actually have Peter working together with Harry to try and create a cure for a good portion of the film, but other stuff like being Spider Man keeps getting in the way, so Harry decides fuck it, I’ll do it myself. It would further add to that ticking clock theme where Peter is not only running out of time to be with Gwen, but to also save his best friend.

Looking forward to hearing your take on the TASAM movies. I could be wrong about this, but the consensus seems to be that the first one is better written and the second movie, while having weaker writing is more entertaining. That’s a take a wholeheartedly agree with. The first movie tells a familiar, but mostly well executed origin story where Peter doesn’t instantaneously grasp the whole great power comes great responsibility lesson. That’s not a knock against the first rami movie just to be clear. I know that’s not quite how it happened in that movie either. The second movie on the other hand has so many characters and plot points going on that some of them either get put on the back burner for other ones, or get almost lost in the shuffle entirely imo. I believe where your criticism of SM2 fails is at admonishing the shitty things happening to Peter for being his fault a lot of the times. Which is arguably the kind of "shitty thing happening" that has weight. Peter for all his academic genius continously screwing his own life up while trying to save others and then selectively blaming one aspect of his life for the errors is interesting. He is a maker of his own misfortune and that's why him renouncing heroism and then accepting it back is logical. If it was purely separate and a result of things out of his reach than the initial giving up of the suit falls on weak reasoning and if it was purely a result of Spiderman existing, it would also then be inconsistent for him to be given the suit back. The misfortune being a result of Peter's bad actions falls in a sweet spot where the lesson is accept Spiderman as who he is and improve his life without irrational blaming.

I do agree that the film has its writing problems and I will explain my take on them but the movie is heavily over criticised by people. @@shandydasquire I think the TASAM movies have similar issues when it comes to things like those. For example, how is it that Peter is still pretty bummed out about his parents leaving years after it happened to the point where he’s kinda shutting everything out at the start of the first film? You’d think Ben and May would have done a better job to reassure him that they didn’t leave him because they didn’t want anything to do with him. Ben himself still speaks fondly of Peter’s dad when he gives his responsibility speech despite the frame up done against him by Oscorp. Agents of Shield is not canon to the MCU. The MCU is Canon to AoS, not vice versa. Same with all the other Netflix shows.
@shandydasquire2 жыл бұрын
The events of the show not only directly impact the events of age of ultranationalist but are also referenced by Fury as to how he acquired the helicarrier so at the very least season 1 to half of season 2 is canon, which only makes sense as joss Whedon worked on both so of course he’d reference his show. However according to an excerpt from “the story of marvel studios: the making of the marvel cinematic universe”, shows such as AOS and Agent Carter are referenced as shows which have been made by marvel studios and which have folded themselves into the MCU, meaning at the very least that their status as canon have not yet been revoked and very likely could be seen as canon again if it would prove beneficial. You also have the introduction of characters such as daredevil and kingpin in the mcu with properties such as NWH and kingpin, so you say none of the shows are canon now is not true unless stated otherwise. The issue with agents of shield is what happens after season 5 since events of the show contradict events that follow infinity war due to Kevin feige not informing abc or marvel tv of how endgame would end, so I can understand those events not being considered canon especially since they were made after the 5 season plan.

Actuality that’s wrong. If Peter told Harry his dad was the goblin then that would actually make him look like a prick. As in the first Spider-Man movie his dying wish to Peter was to not tell Harry. Plus Harry was characterized to be kinda a dick and very protective of his family in Spider-Man 1. If Peter told him one Harry probably isn’t going to believe it right and just take it like that as he beloved highly of his father and that would need some very solid proof. Two if Peter probably shows Norman was the goblin then knowing how harry is characterized that would probably increase the chances of him taking the serum his dad had and going after Spider-Man. Plus Harry would probably want to know how Norman became insane and he would’ve out upon investigation the serum may have been flawed and from Harry’s prospective he could’ve been thinking spiderman didn’t have to just straight up murder him he could’ve just found a way to cure him and it was shown to be possible from NWH as Tobey was working on a cure.
@shandydasquire Жыл бұрын
Harry folded like a lawn chair when his Butler told him that Norman died from his own glider. I think you vastly underestimate just how convinced he can be when someone sits him down and actually talks to him. Peter does exactly that in SM2 when he asks Harry where MJ and Otto are. There is significantly more evidence to support that Harry would be talked out of his problems by Peter if Peter just tried
@Elizabeth-fm6bf Жыл бұрын
@@shandydasquire That’s because the butler told him and Harry believes he has solid proof for it. Plus in Spider-Man 3 Harry was more broken down and was probably more forgiving because of how the damaged relationship they have had at the time. In Spider-Man 2 he was fully convinced by the newspapers Spider-Man killed his dad. He is not gonna believe Peter because Peter doesn’t have solid proof like the butler does because Harry probably knows the butler handled with Normans body before the funeral. Harry can easily just dismiss Peter as a liar and say he has no proof in Spider-Man 2 unlike the butler in Spider-Man 3 because Harry can just dismiss Peter as he is lying to him because he is trying to defend his best friend Spider-Man or something along those lines. Also another things is Peter doesn’t get many chances to tell Harry. The first time he sees him was at his birthday and when it’s your birthday I could understand not wanting to talk about it and just go on just like what Peter did. Because who would want to talk about that. The second time Peter sees him is in the planetarium and considering Harry is drunk there is no way Peter is gonna convince him. The next time Peters sees him is before he goes after Otto. He could have then told Harry about his dad being the goblin but considering Otto is abt to make a machine that could destroy the city and Harry is convinced because MJ is in danger there is no time to actual discus that because it could cause a long conversation between him and Harry because Harry would defiantly be curious and ask a lot of questions. But the point is that half the city is in danger and there is not time to discuss something like that.

I've loved the Raimi trilogy since I was 4 years old. And I will till the day I die. Not because I'm blinded by nostalgia, but because of the memories they bring me. Plus they're genuinely fun and entertaining movies. My favorite of which being Spider-Man 2. Even Spider-Man 3 I had fun with.

kinda annoying to constantly hear about your reviews of the raimi trilogy that i can’t watch ;-;
People like cosmonaut really had me believe that the spiderman movies i saw when i was 3 were horrible, only for me to rewatch them last summer and find all 3 of them to be better than Any MCU movie

I too don’t think TASAM 2 isn’t as bad as people make it out to be. Though I don’t know if I’d call it a good movie, even if it has good things in it, like most of the Peter and Gwen stuff, and the action scenes. I think it easily could have been one of the best Spidey movies if not the best. The ingredients are there. I know I’ve hammered this in so many times already, but they really should have done a bit more with the stuff between Peter and Harry. Wouldn’t it have been interesting if Peter actually did work with Harry to try and come up with a potential cure for a good portion of the movie, but Peter’s insistence on taking it slow because of what happened with Lizard and Spider Man stuff causes Harry to split off and take matters into his own hands, kinda how he does in the movie? You could do a lot with a conflict like that I believe.

This was just a poor misunderstanding about the movies it honestly felt does were cosmos peraonal problems but acts like their flaws he really expects aunt may to just quickly except the way her late husband died and get it over it and be supportive of peter which she does but she needs time to think 😅 he is definitely a watts fan .

1:10:43 an improvement? In what? Because she's under the "it's all about me" mindset. She didn’t tell Pete that she got let go of acting career, she acted like a bitch when he was trying to help her when she told him that she was getting bad reviews, and now she gets jealous of Pete kissing Gwen Stacy when the entire city wanted them to kiss in the first place. Try harder Spider-Man 3 fanboys. 😂

Your BF kisses a random fker just cause of peer pressure. You ok with that?
