Whenever I try to make a cosmopolitan the flavors don't balance and all that comes forward is a ton of vodka, but you were so right to add more cranberry juice! Not only did it brighten the cocktail more, but it balanced the flavors very well too! Thank you for making a cosmo I can actually enjoy!

Yikes, isnt it obvious to add more juice if its too strong.

For real, I struggle with the peeler in my bar so bad that when I saw how well it glided through that peel, I had to order it. And it suggested new pour spouts and a wine key so.... here's to dropping $45 on the bar I don't even own. Don't drink and prime folks.

My recipe (40ml vodka, 30ml cointreau) has a bit more lime juice (20ml) and some sugar water (10ml), but I tend to agree that there needs to be more cranberry in there to be refreshing (+- 50ml to 70ml works for me)

I just did one with merely 20ml of cranberry juice and I agree with your suggestion of adding a bit more- with just 20ml it's a bit too sweet from the triple sec. 30ml would've been much better. Cheers from Poland Steve! Go visit Mount Kościuszko ;)

What’s the point of the flamed zest if you use another part of the peel for garnish? Is it to serve as a spectacle? Just wondering

In Norway I seriously can’t find 100% cranberry juice, only weak stuff from concentrate. So I used a raw bluberry juice instead and it tastes incredible! Very fresh but also sweet. I call it the Norwegian politician 😎

Some products can be hard to find! So many companies produce juice from concentrate rather than fresh.. blueberry juice would be an interesting twist!

Hi, Steve. Quick and possibly stupid question: that cranberry juice is supposed to be sour, right? It has no additional sweet or does it? I have these doubts related to pretty much every fruit juice added to cocktails. Whether its orange or pineapple juice for example. Not so much for the lemon or lime because those are squeezed at the moment. If I were to guess these added juices should be as natural as possible, problem is at the supermarket you usually can only find sugary ones. So... how is it? Thanks for the vids 👍
@StevetheBartender_6 жыл бұрын
Are you in Aus? The one I used is Bickfords which is actually a “cranberry drink” instead of a “cranberry juice”... meaning it’s made of only 25% cranberry juice. I prefer to use Ocean Spray which is probably the most readily available. It’s dry and tart rather than sweet - avoid the Low Sugar version too as it tastes horrible!
@LuisCarmezim6 жыл бұрын
Steve the Bartender Not even close! Portugal. Thing is: most supermarkets here don't even sell cranberry drinks. And the ones who do, are the sugar added ones. So if I actually want something cranberry related I have to go those stores that sell stuff for vegetarians or something along those lines. I imagine it's the equivalent to Whole Foods or something. Though not mainstream, quite the opposite actually. I got a hold of one bottle, very similar to yours, and was surprised because it was very tart. I didn't know whether the cocktail was supposed to be sweet or sour, therefore the doubt regarding juices was born. Thanks for the quick response.
@James-zr7ec3 жыл бұрын
I have the opposite problem. I used organic 100% pure unsweetened cranberry juice and it came out really tart. I tried a second one with the ocean spray kind and it was right on.

for my cosmos, i do a 2, 1.5, 1, .5 mix. I also don't like them sweet, I actually like tart. So i sub cointreau for triple sec. I use 2 ounce vodka, 1.5 ounce cranberry, 1 ounce triple sec, and half ounce lime. When i'm at the bar though i make them with cointreau or citron vodka or both for the sweetness, I just personally don't like it. and i undercut everything a little so it all fits in a glass.

For 2 cocktails: Lime: 30 ml Cointreau: 30 ml Vodka (Khortytsa Ukrainian vodka, because солідарність з україною): 100 ml Cranberry: 90 ml Not much difference to yours, but a bit more... Ooof.

you could just use the ratios so it doesn't matter which units he uses. you can apply the same ratios to liters if you like ... though i wouldn't recommend it.. probably if he said parts you wouldn't be so confused... next time just pretend he is. the reason ounces are perfect is because the numbers are small.

You can't use just any cranberry juice. Many are bitter and nasty. The original calls for a citron vodka but that's not a big deal. Obviously, modify to your own tastes. My wife and I like them cranberry forward so: 2 parts citron vodka 1 Ocean Spray cranberry juice cocktail 1/2 Cointreau, 1/4 Lime Juice. optional : 1/4 Chambord for those who like a touch of raspberry
