Hi how do you get a cosmopolitan to turn a more of a dusky pink. I’ve had this drink more of a red colour sometimes then at other times more of a fruity almost sweetie like taste and a dusky pink colour and this is what I’m looking for. I haven’t been able to ask any bartenders as I don’t want to seem rude. I would really appreciate if you could help me out. As when I’ve tried myself it never quite works out to that sweet taste and dusky pink with a hint of a orange colour. Thanks

Last time I making cosmo 7years ago behind the bar in europe. Absolut Citron Vodka was sweet as hell. Problem was that every single lemon vodka brand was sweet. We tried absolut, smirnoff, belvedere, danish Danzka etc. We decide to infuse Polish Chopin potato vodka by lemon zest peels, rest we usisng same ingridents like you (first version), expept we add just a touch of cranberry juice for the pink color, because our homemade lemon vodka was tart and dry enough and 5ml of lime juice.. Anyway I have nostalgie feelings about this coctail. I like it so much but fell ashamed to order it :P You should mencion about "sex and the city". I think this series have huge impact for a popularity of this coctail in europe. xoxo your huge fan

@TrufflesOnTheRocks3 жыл бұрын
I also “hate” when cocktails are labeled “for men” or “for women” but truth be told, while I agree the Cosmo is a boozy drink, suitable for anyone who likes citrusy drinks, I heard Absolut really asked Cheryl Cook to create a cocktail for women at that time. That + Madonna + Sex and the City... No wonders the label stuck.

Hi!! Thank you for sharing💕🍸… what type of cranberry juice do you recommend?
@TrufflesOnTheRocks2 жыл бұрын
I used Ocean Spray unsweetened juice
@richardsalter69883 жыл бұрын
Is there sugar in your 'Cranberry Juice'? The Ocean Spray 'Cranberry Cocktail' is the most readily available form of cranberry... and that's highly sweetened. Sometimes you can find unsweetened cranberry concentrate, which you can in turn dilute to make 'juice'. Where I live, in the autumn, I can also easily buy raw fresh cranberries in the grocery store to make my own 'juice', but that's probably not the case for most people.
@TrufflesOnTheRocks3 жыл бұрын
Ocean Spray is what I used in all 3 recipes. It's actually the brand that was used when it was first created. If you use the fresh stuff or unsweetened juice, you will have to play with the specs a little since raw cranberries and extremely tart and tanic.

Hi, I found your channel recently and it's very informative and interesting to follow. Clarification stuff are amazing. What I can't find is information about ratio between cocktail and milk. How much milk should be used for clarifying the liquid we want? Keep up with good work!
@TrufflesOnTheRocks3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I usually say that a 4:1 cocktail vs milk ratio is golden rule. But is also depends on the acidity of the cocktail, the total abv of the mixture ... But start with that ratio of 4:1 and it usually works

Hey! Just discovered your Channel and I’m already a dozen videos in, absolutely unique. Just one question arose for me - is there a way to get the same effect of the clarification without using cow’s milk? I try to find vegan alternatives to animal products in cocktail (like chickpea water instead of egg white for foaming), and would love to try the cocktails you show! All the best
@clemensD843 жыл бұрын
Hey, alternative milk work also. But you gotta pay attention to the unique flavor from each “milk”. Soy, rice, coco, almond or other types of vegan milk will have a total different one. Sometimes it ads better sometimes more worst flavors. Anyway, the key is protein! And of course, use a 3:1 ratio (3parts milk : 1part sour) without other ingredients.
@magamegabamba3 жыл бұрын
@@clemensD84 Thanks man! And of course, I assumed the different milks will affect the taste in different ways, but I was just curious to know if on the chemical level it will work the same way. Thank! I'll give it a go 😊

Hi JF! Thank you for all your top quality content! I made my first cosmopolitan today and I liked it a lot. To me it was similar to both margarita and sidecar. Also, I'm not a big fan of vodka, do you know some variations with other types of liquor?

That was some low quality cranberry juice - the most important ingredient to this drink. May I suggest using 100% cranberry juice with zero additives - ie no sugar no nothing. The flavor and color is 10x more intense. Most folks will require simple syrup as real cranberry juice is intensely tannic/tart.
@TrufflesOnTheRocks3 жыл бұрын
I also think you will need some more sweetness to balance the cocktail if you do use that kind of juice. That being said, originally, the Cosmo was made using Ocean Spray. Not saying it is the best thing on earth LOL but that's how the cocktail was balanced.

@@TrufflesOnTheRocks Ocean Spray makes dozens of versions. They have an organic 100% juice that is top shelf. It’s in a tall narrow bottle. I think like 24 oz. I live in the heart of cranberry country. Ocean Spray contracts with many of the growers. For some reason much of the organic cranberry juice found in small co-ops, organic stores and such is swill.
