There's a YT from Mortons On The Move, while in the Yukon on the Canol Rd., had porcupines chewing the wire underneath the truck late one night, did major damage. The husband was an electrical engineer, had an amazing tool set with him, soldered and heat shrunk a repair. I was impressed

I love the North Shore! Very meditative, spiritual place. An excellent place to reground one's self. Middle of winter here in the Twin Cities, and I'm missing Gitche Gumee big time. I have a basic wood teardrop trailer which was made by a retired gentleman in WI. Just the bones basically which I custom fit with mods I dream up in winter. I'm thinking of how I can add a cutting board/table to slide under my counter, and an idea popped into my head as I saw you pull yours out. I am very surprised that you did not get a knock on your window at Split Rock with a 'move along now', but i suspect that kindness was shown due to you NJ plates. I'm jealous because us Minnesotans and Wisconsonites are sadly expected to know better, so less grace for us. Did you know there is a place just south of Two Harbors north of Duluth, along Old 61 called Stony Point? It's a fantastic stop on one's way up to the N. Shore where you can walk along huge rock shelves and, if the weather is right, get splashed by the waves. People even surf there! (Check out YT channel for Stony Point Surfers). Plus there is a shop not too far from there which sells excellent smoked fish from the Lake, which keeps well on trips. So glad you enjoyed one of the most beautiful places on our planet! Thanks for taking us along. You gave me the North Shore in warmer weather fix I needed for this month. I have subscribed. P.S. 3 word suggestion: cast iron pans

Hi Paule. O must state that I did pay for the camping the next morning and they were very nice about it. Thanks for the tip! I will put it on my list for the future. I loved the remoteness of MN the Upper Peninsula and WI. They are 3 worlds to themselves. The remoter the town along Superior the more I loved it. I have family in Saint Paul and that is where the trailer was made so there is more MN in my future. Thanks Paula. So nice to discuss vacation in the dead of winter =Cosmo
@paula.haller4 жыл бұрын
@@CosmoWeems oh I was pretty sure you paid when I saw that you spent time there during the day, ;-) But they don't allow overnight parking except for those registered in campsites (you have to write down your vehicle's license when your register in ). They may let you sleep for 2 hours or so, but not much more then that, the the rangers will knock on your window, otherwise that lot would be constantly filled. They knew you were there alright. Camping spots are precious on the N.S. May - Oct 7 days a wk, especially with the State Parks, which are now 100% reservable and more often then not fully booked 6 to 9 months in advance, a year for weekends. That was what I was referring to. I hate that the campsites at the S.P.s are 100% reservable. I've been going up there for over30 yrs and up until 3 years ago it used to be 1/3 to 1/4 were kept as 1st come 1st serve, nonreservable, which gave more people an opportunity to get up there when they could as not everyone can plan a year in advance, plus one could go after seeing the weather forecasts. But state forests are still 1st come 1st serve, and due to them being pit toilets only, one can usually find a spot Sun - Wed/Thur. I knew there were boondocking sites, but their locations were a well kept secret. So you rather widened my world. Thanks for the website link.

Everything is a compromise including van vs trailer.. The risk of "bad guys" id very low where I am going. To put that in perspective there are 16,000 human on human murders a year in the USA. The large majority of those are in urban areas and with people who know each other. There are less than one black bear attack a year and fatalities are less. I just got my GSI toaster in today. I love it. I will be trying it out just as soon as I get some English Muffins or maybe I'll just make some toast one day. I bought a Lodge flame diffuser to use underneath it.
@CosmoWeems4 жыл бұрын
Nice. I love my toaster and I love toast! I have not used a diffuser with the toaster. I just have to have the mental focus to keep an eye on the toast. I look for the first wisps of smoke an an indicator for when I have her over. I wanted to let you know I am truly impressed with your equipment (camping gear)! =Cosmo
@freedomdove4 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I'm not even done yet. Lol. I bought the diffuser first just to have one for my cook-stove, thinking I could also use it to toast bread, and then I saw the toaster. After reading some of the reviews for the toaster, I figured it would be a good idea to have the diffuser in the mix. I'm sure I won't *need* to use it, but I'm glad to have it just in case.
@CosmoWeems4 жыл бұрын
Ya once your on the road it will all fit together and maybe a few little tweaks here and there. I did well on the equipment analysis and only got rid of a few things and a few tweaks. I ditched the round storage containers for left overs (wasted space in a square cooler/fridge ) and purchased collapsible square containers which fit better.
@freedomdove4 жыл бұрын
I'm not much into plastic, but I think I can get square glass containers for leftovers. I realize it's heavier and can break but it's a safer material, especially when dealing with hot food.

12:05 I can't believe you drove down this 'road' that was overgrown with brush & limbs to scratch your car and tear drop - especially not knowing if there would be a place to turn around? I would rather not destroy my investment just to find solitude. Maybe taking the time to get out of the car and cut back some of the branches would be the answer? I like your cooking show and thoughts about eating salads and fresh stuff even on the road. Love the Vistabule. My husband and I are building a teardrop. I just found your channel today by randomly coming across this video. Saw your name was Cosmo and I had a ferret named Cosmo when I was in my 20s and he was a very good ferret, so I subscribed to your channel. Enjoyed this video and will go and watch more! Maybe older videos have answered this question, but do you ever get lonely without having a pet with you? I would have to bring my Saint Bernard but he would probably need his own trailer. Brewgan is a diva, but that isn’t why. It’s because I don’t think both of our wide asses could fit in one trailer. He says his ass isn’t big - it’s his fluffy tail that makes his butt look fat, but he’s just lying to himself.

Do you frequently find yourself in situations trying to find boondocking spots where there are no turnarounds because the road is too narrow? If so how do you get out of those situations?
@CosmoWeems4 жыл бұрын
Ya all the time. I use common sense. I walk the trail in advance to make sure the car wont be damaged. I use a ruler to measure obstacles i have to get over. I check the area to see if I can turn around when possible I have had to unhook the trailer and turn the trailer around by hand on occasion. I believe in some of my boondocking videos I mention this. But even then I have gotten myself into some undesirable situations. I love remote areas. Thanks for watching =Cosmo
